  • KC masterpiece Ruffles potato chips.
  • Produce can be expensive and it is very much location based. Even when you try to eat seasonally, the cost can add up. The other issue that some folks are afraid to consider is the absurd amount of meat people eat. You don't need to eat it at every meal, you don't need to eat it everyday and your kids don't either. You can…
  • I freeze everything! I think it depends a lot on what you're eating but for things like soups and such I just take it out the day before or the morning of and by supper it's mostly defrosted and ready for the stove or oven. Unless you like playing the 'what does this smell like' game, always label whatever you freeze.
  • I've never really been a fast food lover so take what I say with a grain of salt but is there any possibility that the issue isn't really the food but the act of going to get it? I remember on a road trip, I stopped at a McDonalds drive through to get a cup of coffee and I recall thinking "wow, I could get used to this…
  • One of the things that helps me is to log a day of two in advance. This also helps me when I want a little wiggle room for a treat or something.
  • Personally, my go to is their blonde roast. I’ve always had my coffee black so the sweeteners and not an issue for me. Every now and again I get a triple tall non fat flat white and it only costs me 100 calories or so. Somehow the way they pull the shots or steam the milk makes it seem less bitter to me.
  • I’m a peanut butter addict and i pb toast a few times a week for breakfast. I’ve found that the jiff whips offer me a lot more volume for spreading. I know it’s not the all natural stuff and is loaded with sugar but I love it.
  • I’ve had my Fitbit Alta hr since August and overall I really like it. I’m a data nerd so I really like being able to see the changes over time. The only gripe I have about it is that it doesn’t track my figure skating as ‘active’ minutes even though my heart rate is in the very low end of the cardio zone. Not sure why.
  • So this is from grocery run today- Aldi and Whole Foods: Eggs 2% milk Unsweetened almond milk Bagged kale Bagged spinach 6 bananas Quart of plain Greek yogurt 1 yellow pepper Head of cauliflower 1 lemon Chunk of fresh ginger Chickpeas 2 cans of black beans Bag of shredded carrots 12 vegetarian ramen noodle cups ( I forget…
  • I ate a ton of quest bars before the changed the formula. Now I probably eat 3 or 4 a month when I need some extra protein and don't have any time for real food. Honestly though, I really only ever liked the cookies and cream and cookie dough ones. That said, their protein chips are expensive but amazing.
  • My Doc usually comments on how fit I look and how she wished her other patients were more focused on nutrition. That said, I'm an athlete and weight wise I'm at a very good place. I do think that it must be very difficult for docs to discuss this with patients, especially when they are on an extreme end of the spectrum.
  • Nuts. I really love them but I have almost zero self control unless it's pre packaged. So I don't buy them. That said, I never like almonds or walnuts.
  • Kale. It always tasted so strange but I can deal if it's hidden.
  • So I got an Alta HR on Monday and so far I love it! I still probably haven't figured out all of the features but in addition to counting my steps and active minutes, it can sense when I'm working out and logs it as such. However, I'm a figure skater and my Alta knows I'm exercising but it's logging it as 'Sport' and I can…
  • I'n not a parent but I work with that age group and I think the best approach to take is to focus more on making healthy choices and getting the right macros than actual weight. Teenagers change so much between 14 and adulthood while it's likely that she's just going through a growth spurt, I don't think it would be wise…
  • Everything bagel seasoning, tiny avocados (perfect for one person), sprouted multigrain bread, mini mint ice cream cookies, rosemary raisin crisps, lemon ginger water.
  • When I was a DDD cup I wore the Enell bras and they were awesome. Now I'm a D and I love the VS sport Knockout. They are cute too which is more than I can say for the Enell.
  • I'm a figure skater and I typically only log for half the time I'm skating as I'm a little older and slower than your average ice princess. I have taken my phone out to track and I don't think it's terribly accurate. I'm thinking that maybe movements on the ice don't have the same acceleration patterns as moving on solid…
  • As someone with ADHD, the thing that has helped me the most with sticking with exercise was making sure it was something different everyday. By doing that, I was able to make exercise more of a lifestyle and had sort of freed myself from thinking that I had to do the same thing (like 30 day shred) everyday.
  • Avocado prices have definitely been climbing over the last year or so. Although, if your not dead set on organic, Aldi usually has them reasonably priced year round. I've also noticed that all of the berries I usually. It are significantly more expensive. Even strawberries, which are usually $2 a box on sale are $5 or $6…
  • I wore the Enell bras for years. Those were pretty heavy duty. When I dropped some weight my chest went from a 34F to a 32dd. Now I'm wearing the Knockout front close from Victorias Secret. It's super cute and you can actually wear a tank top with it.
  • I don't think doing high impact exercise during normal hours is unreasonable. I've lived in apartments for half of my life and part of living in an apartment is dealing with the noise from neighbors. For what it's worth, I'm a professional classical musician and practice at home in the late morning or early afternoon. I've…
  • My favorite are quest bars. They are sort of pricy but it packs a pretty hefty punch as far as protein goes. I usually use them as a snack but on occasion I will eat one for breakfast or lunch if I'm in a hurry. The Oreo and the chocolate chip cookie dough are my favorite.
  • Most mornings I have a scoop of Amazing Meal ( made by Amazing Grass) blended with almond milk, ice, and a scoop of pb2. I sometimes add a cup of Greek yoghurt if I am really hungry but I never have a big appetite first thing in the morning.
  • I adore my foam roller! It's important to start off slowly. It will probably hurt a little but it really shouldn't have you in tears.
  • Every day but I only log once or twice a week.
  • I too go through periods where I'm just not really hungry and I think it's pretty typical if you are active and busy. What helps me is to make sure I eat little snacks throughout the day and try and throw a few liquid meals into the mix so I can drink them on the go. That said, if it's a consistent problem you may want to…
  • I don't really buy into the whole set point idea. As others have said, it's an excuse used by those who are uncomfortable changing their eating habits and lifestyles.
  • I really like the Amazing Meal line from Amazing Grass. The have a lot of different flavors and they taste fantastic. I just put a few ice cubes, a scoop of powder, and a cup of almond milk into my magic bullet and it's done in about 30 seconds. The vanilla chai and cafe mocha are my favorites. The only downside is that…
