  • YOU ARE AMAZING! Congratulations
  • I have Charge HR. I do not track any of my exercise on MFP anymore. All I do to track exercise on FB is to hold down the button when I start a workout and end it, then it shows up on the Workout portion of my FB dashboard. Technically, you don't even have to do this, as FB will just send over your adjustment for the whole…
  • here is my favorite low calorie dinner option! a bit of effort, but only 300 cals and 7 sugars. I cook the turkey in Mexican-inspired spices or a low sodium taco seasoning. I mash the avocado for a quick guacamole and use it and the black bean dip (or salsa, same cals) as the dressing. * "Sweet Frozen Corn" it should…
  • massages and pedicures :)
  • I do incorporate a lot of vegetarian meals into my diet, just because I love vegetables, beans, etc. But, I've lost 41 lbs also eating lean white meats and the occasional red meat. So, I wouldn't necessarily say it helps you lose more than another type of diet. calories in, calories out.
  • Artificial sweetener used in a myriad of diet products, but very prevalent in diet drinks. There are always two sides to every food story, but personally, I think anything sweetened with it just tastes bad. This article may be a bit over the top, but you get the…
  • I posted here before, but I now have an updated progress pic I thought I would share! I am 5' tall and started my journey at 155+ lbs after having my daughter three years ago. I am about 5 lbs away from reaching my goal! (and need to do a lot of toning ;)
  • don't drink it at all, never really have except for a few years when I was actually addicted to diet Coke. Now that I understand what aspartame is, I won't touch it. I did find some great organic sodas and tried some as a treat and they were really good! sweetened with stevia, zero calories.
  • Take some time and get organized. Get all the foods that you like to eat regularly into your "My Foods" tab. Plus after about a week of regular logging, everything is right there, and it is so easy to just check things off and add them to your log. It literally takes me 10 seconds to add my breakfast each morning. Also, if…
  • I've lost 7 lbs since getting my Charge HR and started wearing it on March 9th. I LOVE IT. It is very accurate for me and has helped me see exactly what I need to do to take the weight off. Before my Fitbit I was losing weight inconsistently, and yo-yo'ing. I now have seen steady progress that makes me feel confident I can…
  • The hardest thing for me has been finding the right "calories in." At 5' tall, I have to be VERY careful about how much I put in. Yes, I realize the point of MFP is to eat back all or half your exercise cals, which i know works for many, but not for me. If I have an extra busy day or do a heavy workout, sure, i'll add a…
  • I am 5' tall, gained 50+ lbs during my pregnancy three years ago and have been on the journey ever since. Weighed 122 lbs when I got pregnant, was 155+ post-pregnancy, and am now 116 lbs with six more to go!! I don't have a current progress pic of myself, but here is one from last summer.
  • It will get easier. It took me about two weeks to not have cravings and be hungry all the time. but i absolutely go through days where I am starving and could eat everything in sight! I am focusing now on adding more healthy volume to my meals. Say veggies and apples versus a serving of pita chips. I use raw sugar snap…
  • I have a Fitbit Charge HR, and I wear it to ride. It seems pretty accurate! But it also does take my heart rate into consideration. I do think the steps are a bit inflated, since it picks up on the movement of the horse, but my calories burned during a ride always seem to be dead on with what MFP says I would burn. I love…

  • Hi there! I am new here too -- I just started thinking yesterday (while riding), "I wonder if there are any other horse people on MFP?" I will do an intro post for myself, but just wanted to reply :) I am sorry about your knee troubles!! I hope you can find a good path to healing. My husband has had both knees done as well…
  • I have been wearing the charge HR for almost two weeks and have lost 2 lbs because of the data it provides me. I used to wear a BodyMedia Fit armband and have found the FitBit to be far more accurate. Just try it!!! If you lose weight in the first two-four weeks then you know you are on the right track, if not, then just…
  • I just got a charge HR and started wearing it a week and a half ago. I love it and find the HR is accurate for me at all activity levels, even intense exercise. I have worn a HR monitor in the past, and the burn rate is right on target. The only time I have found it a little wonky is after exercise when I know my heart…
  • I am 5' exactly and my ideal weight is somewhere in the 105-115 range. People do not understand "short person" problems. WE ARE TINY people, who, when healthy do not weigh very much. I will also say that my BFF, who is 5'5", just lost 25 pounds, and is now healthy and slim, while she was in the thick of it her co-workers…
  • Be patient!! It takes my body two weeks to get into the swing of things once I start a regimented diet and exercise program. I do also find if I start really working my muscles with a different or heavier routine, I will gain some water weight in the first few days; what I have been told by a fitness professional is the…
  • From a fellow short person ..... I am 5' and I have learned that eating like "normal" people is just not possible. I am getting close to my goal weight now, and I literally can ONLY eat 1200 calories a day and not eat back my exercise calories in order to continue to lose weight. I will also say, that when I started my…
  • I was not overweight when I got pregnant at 36; but I was not healthy either. I was soft, not exercising and not eating well. I gained 50 lbs during my pregnancy (i'm 5' tall) and it has taken two and a half years to get that weight off. THE biggest thing I regret was NOT getting in shape before I got pregnant, especially…
  • ALL of this. I experienced the same. No one can understand the hunger when your body is producing such a nutrient rich product. I also started "dieting" while nursing and I found the best thing for me was eating A LOT of whole, fresh foods and healthy fats kept my cravings at bay. Lots of big leafy salads with avocado, nut…
  • Thank you very much!! I will definitely check those out!!
  • Hi i'm new here as I just decided yesterday that I was going to try for a half marathon in September and came across your post about a race in Buffalo, NY. I am in Naples, NY, which is just south of Rochester. Do you have any others you are doing in the area that you would recommend?
  • peanut butter hummus is amazing. i also make my own at home and drizzle it with olive oil and curry powder, now that I have started making my own, cannot even do store bought hummus any more....here is the recipe I use http://www.inspiredtaste.net/15938/easy-and-smooth-hummus-recipe/

  • Honestly, unless your BMF is perfectly in alignment with the MFP numbers, it just doesn't work out. It didn't for me anyway. I recently unlinked the two apps and am using them separately now. I use the "Workout" function on the BMF app to calculate my exercise burn and then log those into MFP manually. Going the other way…
  • UPDATE: Since calibrating my BMF last week using the suggestions in this thread: (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1234999-calibrating-your-bmf?hl=calibrating+your+bmf#posts-19334962) I am back to losing weight again and also wearing my armband all day. Although I am still keeping MFP and BMF seperate. I bumped my…

  • Try salads! They are super filling, easy to make, and you can have them along with just a small portion of your family's not-so-healthy meals. Get prepared dressing and measure out your serving. I love romaine lettuce, its inexpensive and easy to prepare. Also, two whole cups of most salad is only 20 calories :) Other…
