  • Thanks for all the tips! I'll probably do the 30 day challenge. Taking quick walks throughout the day has already helped break up the monotony of work and ease my occasional back aches. Hopefully I can get back to my step classes soon!
  • Way to motivate...
  • Thanks for all the helpful tips! My travel times vary - last month I had 6 hour flights, next week's trip is under 3 hours. Looks like I'm going to go make a quick trip to the store for some of the suggestions you guys have made!
  • For a late night snack I'll usually go for grapes or almonds, but if I'm feeling really hungry (even when I shouldn't be) I'll make a cup of steamed broccoli. Fills me right up without tons of fat and whatnot.
  • I bought some t-shirts from 5 and Below... But recently started shopping the sale items at jc Penney and Walmart. Super cute, good quality clothes and the most I've spent on a single item so far is $8
  • Maybe you should politely ask them if they want help. If someone asked me that, I'd be embarrassed but I would accept the help. PS, my pet peeves are people just sitting/standing on machines not working out or only working out half asked when the gym is really full. This is why I mostly get my exercise from classes!
  • I was never motivated until I discovered les mills classes at the Y. I get super bored just doing weights or elliptical but I Love the classes. Time flies so quick and I leave the classes drenched in sweat, then look forward to my next class. I go several times a week and like to do 2 classes in a row at least once a week.…
  • Whoa I didn't realize there had been so many replies! And yes, I tweaked the original recipe to make it less calorie dense. I actually sat down with MFP and an excel spreadsheet to figure everything out. Obviously you could add to them to make them more meal-like and you could switch around ingredients to your liking. Hope…
  • Usually I cook chicken in large batches in my crockpot. Usually I buy a few pounds of boneless chicken breasts and either throw them all in as is, or chop a few in half if they won't all fit. Add a little bit of water to help them stay moist, seasonings, turn it on Low, and go about your business for several hours. I then…
  • Wow, judgmental much? I personally like to stretch, then walk the treadmill for a bit to help me warmup. I do it at a decent rate and at an incline. Treadmills are NOT just made for running!
  • I don't eat it often but I usually get the Jennie-O reduced sodium turkey bacon - mostly because I can't eat beef. If I could eat beef, I would totally eat full on, real beef bacon every once in a while!
  • 20 minutes on an elliptical-like machine (not sure what it's called, but it felt like I was running in slow motion). 10 minutes on a stationary bike, then ~20 minutes of strength exercises (abs & arms) + stretching before and after. On a side note, I signed up for the Y Weight Loss Challenge!
  • I've done this workout... very quiet, and since you do slow/controlled movements it's actually pretty good - burns some calories and tones too. Leslie Sansone's Walk at Home burns an OK amount and doesn't really make noise. You can get away with doing JM 30 Day Shred if you skip the jumping jacks and do something quieter…
  • I don't log cleaning in MFP because I'm pretty sure that the calories burned numbers are way inflated. However, I do feel good about cleaning anyway because A.) Clean house = win and B.) Time not spent sitting on my butt = win!
  • headed to the Y a little later tonight... planning on the AMT Trainer and upper body workout. Maybe I will try the stairmaster again, I'm determined to master it!
  • You should check out Allrecipes.com some time. Use their ingredient search to find new ideas. I like to put in unusual food combinations that I have on-hand sometimes and see what recipes pop up.
  • I laughed out loud when I saw the teeny tiny bit of butter. This is why we pretty much forgo using butter anymore in my household; we bought a small tub of Smart Balance butter w/ flaxseed oil over a month ago and it's barely 25% gone. The fruit and veggies made me smile - seems I'm making the right choice to choose them…
  • Ice and/or a straw... I think flavored water is gross!
  • Not really. There's a joining fee and you have to sign a contract as well.
  • Pants are loose enough that I actually needed to bust out my belt... which is now too big for me.
  • Whiting filet (4oz) + broccoli... maybe some grapes, cantelope, or a banana too.
  • I probably eat that much just with the fruits and veggies I eat each day...
  • If I have it on hand, I find watermelon to be very filling (and delicious!). Guessing it's so filling because of the water content. Low cal too, technically somewhat high in sugar but at least it's the natural kind!
  • Without knowing what types of food you're eating, I can tell you that foods that are more nutritionally dense are going to make you feel fuller longer - as of course will fiber. For instance, if I ate just a whole wheat english muffin with some natural peanut butter for breakfast, I'd feel pretty full for several hours. If…
  • I started doing beginners HIIT workouts... I can't do any of the crazy hard stuff yet, but it's fun alternating between lunges, squats, burpees, jogging in place, etc. I don't get so bored that way. I also like to find random workouts on YouTube and try them out. The last time I got super bored with exercising I ended up…
  • Thanks OP, I was just about to post the same exact question!
  • Hmm. I think my biggest one would be regular old milk. I've tried all types of soy and almond milk but I never liked the taste, and I love my 2% milk (in moderation!)
  • To the OP, I'm the same way. I've tried multiple brands and varieties of both soy and almond milk and I just don't like it. I generally stick with 2% cow milk and only drink 1 cup a day. On the other hand, I did like regular almond milk with cereal! But I could not drink almond milk by itself, gross.
  • I cook for two as well. Instead of making meal plans and freezing entire meals etc, I just cook large portions of meat and then freeze them in 1 - 1.5 cup and 0.5 cup portions in baggies. Usually I'll just season with black pepper and garlic powder so that I can add other specific seasonings later when I'm actually making…
  • I love black beans in chili and on burritos with salsa/diced tomatoes and meat or eggs. I usually buy dry black beans and soak/rinse/cook half a bag at once and then freeze them in little baggies. I add them to pretty much any meal that has diced tomatoes in it because I love that flavor combination. I know some people…
