  • I can definitely identify with what you said. I was diagnosed this month as being in stage 4 renal failure. Since I only have 1 kidney this was very scary. I've been in a weight loss support group for many, many years and have lost and regained the same weight many, many times. I know what I need to do ... but had to be…
  • This is pretty much the same as me. I'm in a weight loss group so I know how to lose weight and keep a food chart but MFP makes it so easy. I've lost almost 20 lbs. since starting here and am soooo glad I did. On July 5th I was diagnosed as being in stage 4 renal failure. I'm sure that losing what I've lost will help keep…
  • Great loss .. and good for you and for your kids. Sounds like they're definitely keeping you on the right track. And you're not alone ... you not only have your kids support but we're here for you as well.
  • As the wife of a Navy retiree I can sympathize with you. Even though most people think the Navy is a "safe" military career .. believe me it has its ups and downs also. I don't know what branch of the military your husband is in but it's all hard to deal with at times. And when you say the word "deployed" that is…
  • FANTASTIC!!! So proud of you ... and for you. What a milestone. Keep it up ... you CAN do it!!!!
  • Yay!!!! You're almost to your desired goal for the 29th and you're almost to ONDERLAND!!! Keep it up girl. You CAN do it!!
  • Weigh in on Friday April 15th .... 222 I had a "BAD" day yesterday but am still down the 2 pounds that I hoped to be for this particular week. Today is a new day and a new chance to begin again; correctly!!! And I'm taking it. I don't know what the challenge is for this week but will find it. Hope everyone is doing well.…
  • Sounds like you're doing great. Keep doing what you're doing and you'll keep getting what you're getting ... smaller!!!!

  • I'm not a nutritionist ... never claimed to be .... don't know anything about all this "stuff." But ... if I'm exercising to burn calories it doesn't make sense to me to eat them back. Don't I want a deficit on the calories in - calories out in order to lose weight? So far I haven't been eating back my exercise calories…
  • I love you sense of humor. Hope you feel better from that 'annoying cold' real soon.
  • I'm from south of San Antonio (Texan born and bred) but have never been to Fiesta. I'm a LOT older than you and wouldn't be able to walk around it anyway. I understand the temptations of being at an event where there is food, food and more food. And I think your choice to stay away this year is a good one. We make choices…
  • I was out of town on Friday so no weigh in for last Friday. But I went to my weight loss support group this morning and had a loss of 2.5 lbs. so I'm on my way down!!!! And for the challenge this week: 1. I like the positive attitude I've had since the first of this year. It's quite different from the past. 2. I like the…
  • The chart looks great!! I'm sorry but I won't have a weight for Friday April 8th as I will be out of town for 3 days. Hopefully will be able to eat sensibly and come back with a great loss on the 15th. Good luck to everyone. Almost forgot my new thing to try was flax seed. Have always heard how good it is for us but have…
  • You've already done the hard part. You've admitted to yourself that you need help. Start logging your foods again and take it one day or one meal at a time. You did it before ... and you CAN do it again. We all slip up at times but what counts is that we don't GIVE up.
  • Name: Jeanette Goal weight on April 30th: 219 04/01: 224 04/08: 04/15: 04/22: 04/30: I'm glad the challenge for this week is to eat more fruits and veggies. That's where I have a big problem ... I eat way too many carbs and very few fruits. So this week I will eat more fruits and veggies.
  • I'm in ... first time I've participated in a monthly challenge but I'm ready. My name is Jeanette and my goal is 5 lbs. less of me by April 30th. I will post my beginning weight tomorrow morning. Name: Goal weight on April 30th: 04/01: 04/08: 04/15: 04/22: 04/30:
  • Your yesterday sounds like the way my day started TODAY!! Ate FOUR filled donuts this morning!! And now I have only a few calories left for the entire day and it's not even noon. And to top it off I feel MISERABLE .. am on such a sugar high and feel stuffed and bloated. But there is NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU or ME!!! We're…
  • I also tried the Atkins plan years ago. I lost lots of weight very quickly but felt horrible. Little did I realize that the problem was that I only have one functioning kidney and the program had thrown me into ketosis which was affecting my kidney. My doctor told me to NEVER do a program like that again unless I was…
  • "You have to make up your mind what you want.is that food worth all the hard work you`ve done." This is so true. I'm in a local weight loss support group and one of our daughter's is also in the group. After our meeting on Tuesday mornings we go to a restaurant and get breakfast. This morning I decided I wanted hash browns…
  • Those "small" things will add up to big losses. Good for you for making a healthy choice. Keep it up.
  • I'm 72 (you're never too old to lose weight and become a healthy person) and have at least 70 lbs. to lose. I hope there's still room for me in the group.
  • I hate wasting food ... but in the case of a honey bun the garbage disposal is a good place for it. You made a GREAT choice in not eating it. Good for you.
  • I'm apparently older than most of the members answering this question. My 2 sisters and I were adopted by an aunt and uncle when our birth mother died when I was 4 years old. This was in 1943 while WWII was going on. Their 2 sons were grown and then all of a sudden, when food was being rationed, they had 3 young girls to…
  • Let go of the past and look forward to the future. You can't change what already is but you can pick yourself up and get right back on track. If you dwell on that 5 lbs. too long you might get depressed and feel like giving up. Also look at how far you've come on your journey and let that inspire you to continue.
  • Don't think of it as a "diet" .. think of it as a lifestyle change. Think positive and be positive. You CAN do it.

  • Don't get discouraged. You CAN do this. This is the easiest program I've ever used and it's really helping me lose weight. I am in a weight loss support group and have lost for 5 consecutive weeks using MFP. You've taken the first step by using the program today .. now do it again tomorrow. One thing that has helped me is…
  • I'm in this with the rest of you. I just started MFP last week and would like to lose between 80 and 85 lbs. total. I belong to a weight loss support group that meets once a week and this morning I had a 2 pound loss!!! Yay!!!! I've taken the first step of my journey and look forward to reaching my goal!! Count me in!!
