  • I was never interested in a PT until my gym got a new instructor and she started working with a few of us at a time on little classes. I now use her as a PT for 45 minutes on a Monday and Tuesday every week. She pushes me to do things I didn't think I could do and although I haven't lost a tonne of weight in the last year,…
  • I am fairly sure the standard answer will be why pay for Slimming World when MFP is free! I like the accountability of class. Although I follow SW I also log what I am eating on here and still weigh out my portions of pasta/rice etc. I also like Weight Watchers points system but there aren't any class times locally that…
  • I'm getting married on 01st March 2014. I had already lost close to two stones however I am hoping to lost another 14/21 pounds for the wedding which was my goal for then anyway, wedding or no wedding. I have my dress and it fits however I need to get the length altered so if I need to get the bodice altered as well it's…
  • I had bursitis in my right hip a few months ago and could barely walk. I had to take around three weeks off from exercise and went to see a physio a couple of times who gave me strengthening exercises to do. Once I started exercising again I built up slowly for a week or two but have been fine ever since. Sometimes after…
  • I follow WW while also logging my calories on MFP as I'm curious about my macros. The link below will work out your points for you plus on top of your daily points you get 49 additional points to use however you like over the course of the week and you can also earn exercise points. One point roughly equates to 40 calories…
  • I follow Weight Watchers and on the most part would say my diet is pretty 'clean' (I hate that term) as I cook mostly from scratch but I allow myself little treats every day whether it be a packet of lower calorie crisps or a small chocolate bar or as it's hot today, an ice lolly. I love Weight Watchers- iot gives you a…
  • Based on where you are pointing it could be trochanteric bursitis. I had this a couple of months ago & got to the stage I coukd barelywalk. I went to the physio twice & it took around three weeks of doing the stretches he gave me to be able to walk without pain. When I started to run again I used C25k to build me up slowly…
  • ** Raises hand and waves! Scottish girl here.
  • I would love to do this but none in Scotland unfortunately. Boo!
  • I follow WW alongside tracking calories on here for everything, including fruit and vegetables. I find most days including zero pointed items I am just below the 1450 calories I have set on here however I do cook mostly from scratch which I find makes your points last longer. I used to go to class but now I use an android…
  • Staples in my cupboard/fridge/freezer are: *Onions *Carrots *Chopped tinned tomatoes *Bananas *Arborio Rice *Chicken Breast (I keep a bag in the freezer) *Prawns (frozen) *Porridge oats/ oatmeal *Tortilla Wraps I think if you have onions, carrots and tomatoes you can make a meal from anything. 45g arborio rice made as a…
  • If I do more than 3 runs per week I tend to split my week into Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. This week I ran Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and on Tuesday night I fell to pieces as I was so tired. As above, I think most training plans advise only one long slow run per week increasing your distance by around 10% per…
  • Well done! I seem to have hit a mental wall. Went out for a 5k run last night, took a bit of a panic attack about halfway round but managed to get myself together to finish the run and did a little extra so ended up completing 3.4 miles. I ran Sunday, Monday, Tuesday so not sure if I'm really just needing a rest day and…
  • Well done on running 22 minutes so far. Excellent! Physically outdoors is harder as you need to control your own pace rather than having it pre-determined for you plus no matter how flat you think a path is, there are always little inclines and changes in the terrain. However, mentally I think outdoors is far easier than a…
  • Try moving on to Week 5 Day 3. I know it seems like a huge jump but I think the first 6-10 minutes of running are the worst and then you find your rhythm. My friend didn't believe me about that but she found Week 5 Day 3 easier than Week 4 and the start of week 5. After that she didn't want to run intervals again. As has…
  • Went out last night after work to do a 5k and it was awful. It was a really hot and sticky late afternoon and I couldn't get my head in gear. Gave up at 2.5 miles and decided I would rather just walk the rest so gave myself a mental beating for giving up so close to the end. Decided when I got home to turn it into a…
  • Well done! It's amazing how good W5D3 feels once completed, especially after all the nerves leading up to it.
  • Well done! I think Week 5 Day 3 is the one that finally convinces the brain that you can do this and the rest of the week's don't seem so frightening after that.
  • Graduated on Thursday and decided to try my first 5k on Friday. I used to run regularly a few years ago so know all the 5k routes start and stop points around my way. I live in the middle of the countryside which is great but no matter which way I run I am hit with hills. Friday's 5k felt good. Kept my pace slow and steady…
  • Come back in 9 weeks and tell me that you can't do it. Honestly, hard as it may be to believe right now your body is more than capable but your mind just needs to catch up with that. I used to run regularly a couple of years ago but my friend hasn't run since she was around 12 years old. At the moment she is around three…
  • I've told my friend to savour running the 30 minutes for a week or two and then we're going to take it up to 32 minutes and then 35 minutes two days a week. On the other day we run together we're going to work on her pace by repeating C25k from week 1 but instead of run a minute, walk 90 seconds we're going to do the run…
  • Well done. I think W5D3 is definitely the turning point. Once you reach that 20 minutes it's like your mind somehow believes that your body can do it.
  • There is no such thing as too slow. Make sure you are covering your time comfortably and with practice your pace will naturally improve.
  • Thanks. I'm going on holiday next week but plan on taking my running gear and getting a few runs in while there. Once I come back I'm going to start concentrating on getting up to 10k.
  • Started C25k on 22nd April and graduated today. Had to take two weeks off due to Hip Bursitis but as soon as I was ready I got right back into it again. Finished a week ahead of the original schedule and today's average pace was 11.30 minute/mile. My first goal is to complete the 5k, run a parkrun then start training for a…
  • Well done. I always think the first 8-10 minutes of a run are the hardest as you struggle to find pace and regulate breathing. Once your body has found a rhythm you could run forever if your mind would just switch off. Week 9 complete here- GRADUATED! The last four minutes were tough but mentally more than anything as I…
  • Congrats. You've just completed the hardest step!
  • I have an Android Phone and used RunDouble. It gives you the first two weeks free then you have to purchase the remaining weeks for £0.99. I paid £1.99 and got all of their training plans for this.
  • I use MFP as well as following WW. All programmes work if you stick with them but if you're getting bored of WW have a look at what you are eating and try and change it up because the principles of both WW and MFP are the same- calories in v calories out. Good luck!
  • Well done. You look amazing and wow, look how big and bright those peepers look now.
