  • Pardon my ignorance here, but what is nonbinary?
  • Thanks all for the great words!! Mdorisi - I have a suit I want to wear that I haven't worn in a LOOOONNNNGGGG time. I am going to try it on this weekend!!!
  • I live off Subway now - I only get a salad though with all the veggies and only roasted chicken breast - no cheese, no dressing. 130 calories. 4 times a week at least.
  • Let's get something straight - A calorie is actually a unit of ENERGY!!! It takes 3500 calories to lose or gain 1 pound. To lose that pound you can do it by eating less, working out more or both. Most likely doing both will provider the faster and more beneficial loss. Basically think of it like this, if you eat 200…
  • hmm - I think eric had it right - just think about it - if heat was all it took, we could all lay out at a beach or sit in a sauna and melt away the pounds. Despite saying we are "burning" calories, the concept of burning a calorie is by definition a result of the ENERGY that it takes. (Calorie definition: A UNIT OF ENERGY…

  • I am not an expert, but I think it has more to do with the duration and intensity of your work out. A calorie on a larger person is the same as a calorie on a smaller person. To eliminate that calorie, there has to be a certain amount of exertion for a certain time and intensity. Less intensity, more time. More intensity,…
  • Wow - In one year you have already lost 60 pounds!!! That is great! I am on the 2 lb/week plan too. Not sure I am actually getting that result, but I am getting good results and I am happy about it.
  • 204 yesterday for me!! 199 is just around the corner - I can feel it!!!
  • I can relate - especially on days that I work out - sometimes it can be 700 or 800 calories. I let my body be my guide. If I am not feeling hungry, I don't worry about it. If I do, then I eat something. It is a great feeling to know I can eat something if I need to and not worry about it too much.
  • If you work out, be sure to eat your workout calories - in other words, if you do an activity that consumes 400 calories, you can add 400 calories to your 1200. If you are finding it difficult to get down to 1200, take a 30 minute (fast paced) walk or something like that to give yourself a buffer. Best wishes to you!!
  • Wow - it does sound like a tough week. Welcome back!!
  • Damn!! I forgot it was that time of year!! I am in trouble now!! Seriously - seeing that nutrional info was very interesting and a good deterrent......and that was just a small - who gets a small anyway?
  • Here is the rub for me. About a month before Christmas I went out and bought about 4 new pairs of pants. 13 pounds lighter and ALL of them are now getting baggy. The good thing is my pants that were getting tight or impossible to wear are now available again. In addition, I tried on a pair of jeans I have NEVER worn and…
  • I believe the following will apply if the label contains this information. Carbohydrates and Proteins = 5 calories/1gram Fat = 9 calories/1gram It may not be exact, but should be close.
  • Welcome!! My best recommendation is to stick too it and celebrate every achievement, no matter how big or how small. Every little step counts. There are lots of great people here and lots of help, but perhaps the best thing you have done is made the commitment toward your goal. Congratulations!!!
  • I eat breakfast on the go - one container of lite yogurt (80 calories) and a slice of bread is enough to get me started in the morning. It is cheap, easy and ready to go out the door with me in seconds.
  • Hmmm - good question. You know you could try changing it to see what the change is and can reset it if you have doubts. What you didn't say is how long you have been sticking to the 1200 calorie consumption. If it has been a few weeks or even a couple months, then I wouldn't worry about it. If it has been several months or…
  • Most people on here are trying to loose, buy I have run across a few that were trying to gain. People fail to realize that those who are trying to gain weight have very similar problems to those that are trying to lose weight. Clothes don't fit right, dissatisfied with body appearance, perception of being unhealthy, etc..…
  • HA - everyone wants you to go out and shovel - how about go out and have fun!!! - Build a snowman - start a snowball fight with someone, go sledding - find ways to burn off steam and have fun doing it. Of course you may want to shovel too - it is good exercise!!
  • Wow - lots of great advice on here for you. Probably the best I saw was the one about increasing your calorie intake. 1300 seems very low for someone in decent shape that eats right..Another thought I had that no one mentioned is that you may have a very high or active metabolism. You are only 22 so still very young…
  • Congrats kat!! Charity - everyone loses differently - at least you are losing!!
  • Running is good for losing weight, but also consider your age and fitness level. Running can have a very strong impact to your bones, so makes you more susceptible (?) to injury because of the jarring and smashing of the bones together. If that is the case for you, you can switch to the elliptical or bike for less bone…

  • I think it is great you and your mom and working together to lose weight. I am sure she needs your support very much right now. Just a thought though about being depressed, you may want to find a counselor or someone to help you deal with it - that alone can help motivate you in your weight loss goalf and help you and your…
  • Hmmm. I would think the food police are sincere and wanting to help with a reminder (whether you think it is helpful or not) - I mean obviously these are "friends" whom you have told about your weight loss goals - whereas the saboteurs are intentionally teasing and tempting you - trying to get you to eat something both you…
  • Has anyone checked out the Wheaties Fuel? Just curious if it is as good as the name implies.
  • I am not sure I agree either unless you are targeting a specific part of the body. It would seem to me that any time you are exercising you are burning calories, so if your goal is weight loss, that would be sufficient. The exception would be like I said if you are focusing on a particular part of the body - stomach, arms,…
  • Well at least you are doing something!! Even keeping track of your food and exercise lets you know where you are at and helps you make better decisions. I hope you find that special motivation that will jump start the weight loss!
  • I was hoping someone had started a group like this. I am 47, 3 kids, divorced. Live in Louisville KY. Started working out at the beginning of the year (recommitting to working out). I was not going to worry about eating differently until I found this app for the iPhone and then got on this site. Wow what a difference!! I…
  • Mine is at 1450/day. I am working out 5 times a week so I try to eat my exercise calories too. I figure I will reset when I get to 200 lbs.
  • It is normal and it will get better soon. :flowerforyou: Think about how long it took to gain the weight you are trying to take off. It was not overnight, so you will not see big changes overnight (although I do secretly wish to wake up tomorrow morning and have the body of a god). Besides big changes usually are not…
