  • I love the Liberte yogurts, but I can't stand 0% fat ones of any brand. I buy the plain 2.5% organic and add honey and berries, or papaya. It isn't branded as Greek, but it has more protein than the other Greek yogurts I have tried. Oh yeah. they have a coconut one, and when I am in the mood for a treat, I buy that or the…
  • The first question I have is why you are in the boot? Ruptured achilles? Ankle surgery? You should speak with your doctor about appropriate exercise that won't put your recovery back. My sister was in a boot cast for achilles rupture and she didn't do much at first, but found she was able to get on a stationary bike near…
  • I ate five tortilla chips today, and didn't log them.
  • I agree with this. I've been swimming my whole life, but until I got the coaching my endurance (effciency in the water) had a lot to be desired. Breathing and form are what you need for endurance. When I started swimming for fitness again, I could barely swim 50 meters without stopping. After I took the class, which was a…
  • I'm not sure where you are, but in my area the community centers offer adult lessons which will help you focus on your strokes, breathing and in water form. The one I took was pretty inexpensive ($50 for 10 half hour lessons) and it helped me immensely with endurance and form. That said, I was already a swimmer. My…
  • I have a pizza stone. I make the pizza on it while it is cold (oiled), then put it on my BBQ until done. Perfect crispy crust every time.
  • You are my hero today. :)
  • I'm with the majority here. Go enjoy yourself. I'm heading to Mexico in a week and I will not be counting calories. I will be mindful of what I eat, will hit the gym or the pool in the early morning, and walk everywhere I can. Last time I did this, I came back 6 lbs lighter. However, my last vacation was an 8 day kayak…
  • What a turnaround in a year and a half. Congratulations on your recovery and discovery. Very inspirational!
  • I use my HRM and log it as a custom cardio exercise. I burn between 150 and 180 cals in 25 minutes but you could be different due to age, weight, etc.
  • The thing I have found useful for myself is to have the same thing for breakfast and lunch daily. I keep most of my calories for dinner and switch it up daily. I eat yogurt, fruit and an egg for breaksfast, a salad with some sort of protien (shrimp, chicken) and then eat whatever I want for dinner within my calorie goal.…
  • I created my own exercise, and I use a HRM and burn about 170-210 cals per workout based solely on the HRM. Since there are some good strength movements in there, actual burn is probably a bit higher. But, we're probably not the same size, age, height, so YMMV.
  • In for the awesomeness!
  • I wouldn't allow yourself to get used to it. Any change in diet is going to result in some loss. Nine pounds in a month is pretty good, but at your weight, water weight is going to play a bigger role. Prepare yourself for some normalization of weight loss, and a harder time losing it as you go along. At my heaviest, it was…
  • The most I have lost in a week is 6 lbs. Crazily enough, it was the week I went on an 8 day kayak trip and I ate like crazy (and got lots of exercise just hauling gear and boats). I guess my body got all confused and shed the pounds.
  • I don't think you will damage your metabolism in the short time it takes to recover from a flu. Just listen to your body, and if you don't want to eat, then don't force it. Metabolism changes happen over a long period of time.
  • I walk every day. I also do other stuff, but I always walk. It burns lots of calories, is a great way to think about stuff, and I try to vary my routes for interest. 34 lbs so far!
  • Under. I have two abyssinian cats and they are evil. My boy cat actually uses the toilet (in the bathroom downstairs that no one else uses) and I can't have toilet paper in there anyway. He just unrolls it when he's done his business. Now all I have to do is teach him to flush.
  • quote] This. Don't f@#k with it. Heh. I made a funny. [/quote] [
  • It's doctor time .... I can't remember the term, but it is just as you describe and may be due to straining while lifting. Don't mess with it, have your doctor check for fissures, and rest up before doing anything else strenuous.
  • Honestly, if you look at MFP as some sort of service and what it can do for you, you need to change your approach. MFP is a tool. It doesn't tell you what to buy, how to exercise, or any of that. YOU need to commit to a healthier you. MFP is simply a tool to help you do that. The tone of your post suggests you just want to…
  • By the way, I started my class in April and it took five weeks, so success was pretty quick.
  • I was where you are now. I knew how to swim but had problems evening out my breathing, breathing on both sides and with endurance. I took a class at my local pool called Moderate Training Swimfit which was geared towards adults wanting to improve their swim technique. When I started, I could barely swim a length without…
  • Let me be the first to point out that mushrooms are actually grown in crap. Have you noticed the brown dirt like substance on on mushrooms? Crap. So there. So crap or maggots. Pick one. At least there's protein in maggots.
  • I don't think I made myself clear. I didn't eat high sodium chicken. I noticed the high sodium counts in my journal and did some research. It ended up the fresh chicken I was eating was not high sodium, which is why I was not having my usual sodium reaction. Then I did some research and found out the labelling requirements…
  • The count for 350g of chicken is about 150mg of sodium. That is about equivalent to about 50mg per 4 oz. the 350 was referring to the chicken weight, not the sodium content. What blew me away was some of the sodium counts on some of the chicken entries on MFP and I only noticed it due to some high sodium numbers. Most…
  • THAT sounds fabulous!
  • Because it's main ingredient is garbanzo beans. It's high in fibre, protein and iron. Plus the garlic and lemon is good for you too!
  • I have substituted crackers with cucumber slices. So I will build a little canape with the cucumber as a base, a slice of cheese, and a little hummus on top. Yummy and low cal .... just don't go wild on the cheese. I also love it with carrots.
  • I'm a regular drinker. I love my wine and gin. I don't drink to get drunk, but I can put them away with the best of them. I do count the calories though and will cut back a glass of wine if it will impact my calorie goal. I haven't had a problem losing weight.
