  • Brussels sprouts or eggs. Snacks are almonds or low fat cheese sticks :)
  • Abs are the combination of low body fat and the actual size of the muscles. More body fate % than anything else I'd say. As an example Brad Pitt in Fight Club and Snatch was not very muscular but extremely low in body fat. He put on muscle for Troy but his body fat was still very low.
  • I drink 3-4 coke's a day cause I don't want to give them up. They're figured into my caloric allowance. When I'm at work it's straight black coffee or water.
  • I cancelled my LA Fitness contract the second day after that shaming nonsense.
  • Keiser M3 is my personal favorite. It's pricey though. The magnetic resistance feels the most like a traditional bike. You could try rollers. But you need to be really good at balance or it's dangerous. Resistance trainers are usually loud and cumbersome. But you can use your own bike.
  • Cut it into smaller cubes or fries. Add cornstarch and spices of your choice to a bowl. I like creole seasoning and garlic salt. coat all the sides and deep fry. You can also coat them in honey and pan fry for sort of a caramelized snack.
  • I agree. Small at the pedals and big in the back. You may want to look into a mountain bike cassette if you like that bike. They can be installed for not to much
  • How far is far to you? I recommend chamois short for padding and chaffing. Possibly a body lubricant like Chamois Butter. Other then that just work your way up to the distance you want to ride. I start out with water in my bottles but replace it with a sports drink by the first rest stop. Let someone know where your going…
  • 40 miles last Saturday in TDI on a fs mountain bike.
  • 1.Push the mode button till you reach hrm setup. 2.Push set/reset button to change the hrm setup. 3.Hit the mode button till you reach weight. 4.Use the start/split and heart rate button to change weight up or down. 5.Press mode again when done.
  • Please take my comment with a grain of salt as I am not a medical doctor. Your resting heart rate sounds fine. Your heart is just a muscle. If you work it out it gets stronger and pumps more blood per contraction ie. Lowers your heart rate. Genetics play a part in how high your heart rate goes. How do you feel when your…
  • I hear on average you burn 100 calories per mile walking or running. If you can calculate your distance you can get a ballpark of your calories burned.
  • What is your first Bachelors in? This site can help you track your intake and build in a deficit set by you. It's a slow but safe method. It really pays off if your honest with yourself when logging food and exercise. Dancing is a form of exercise that can burn plenty of calories and it's fun...so is it really exercise lol?

  • I allow myself regular coke as my cheat item. I still eat healthy and exercise like Lance Armstrong. The only issue I can see with soda's of any kind is that your body doesn't recognize it as food. So you can drink many calories and still feel hungry. But diet soda probably has some chemical enhancements that smarter…

  • Hi Jeff. How's the weather in San Anton? It's getting pretty hot up here in DFW.
  • I wish you luck in your weight loss journey.

  • I love my HRM. I use a Timex Fitness HRM with chest strap mainly for cycling. It has a good calorie counter and heart rate zones. I got it at Academy for $100. It's easy to use and I use it as a regular watch all the time. I tried the Polar brand and was disappointed.
  • Polar is the most common brand. I much prefer my timex hrm. imho

  • I like the Cateye line of bike computers. Corded computers will be the least expensive. The only features you need are distance and speed. Cadence is nice but that ups the price. The calorie counting function is total bs so skip anything with that and either log it into mfp or get a heart rate monitor if you want more…
  • I read an article in Bicycle Magazine about finding my ideal riding weight. Skinny enough to climb well and fat enough to keep my immune system healthy. I can out with 178 lbs. based on my height, frame, and gender. It made perfect sense to me because I have been that weight before when I was in my best shape and felt great.
  • I'd go with a hardtail with good components. Save the rest for a better bike if you find you really enjoy mountain biking. Check used as well. Local bike clubs often have members that will cut you a deal if they know it's going to be used well. You never know what kind of great deals you can find.
  • I ride a bike trainer in front of the tv. It's just a routine. I don't focus on the bike at all so time goes fast.

  • A HRM will be far more accurate then MFP estimates. Your heart rate is a direct correlation with effort done. It can also tell you when your over training if your HR stays high after you work out. 90% max heart rate sounds like to much unless your doing intervals. Also MFP estimates don't take wind into account. Which is a…
  • I have the Fitness HRM, one step below the Ironman HRM. To start the heart rate you push the orange button. It can take a minute. To reset the calorie counter you go to the CHRONO/STOP WATCH mode and hold down the reset button. It resets both the calorie counter and the timer.
  • I find that I ride for longer at a more relaxed pace outdoors and spin class is high intensity. The slower pace burns a high percentage of fat and intense spinning burns more overall calories. Some of which are muscles being eaten to keep up the intensity. You'll burn only slightly less calories outside do to natural wind…
  • What exactly are burms?
  • My mountain bike experience is limited to text only so far. The trails here are closing because of rain every time I have a free day. I've read for turning you have to load the front tire because that's the one that grabs. Also putting your weight forward when climbing sounds logical. I think beyond that practice and…
