  • Eat bananas. If the vast majority of your carbs are coming from fresh fruits and vegetables, you have nothing to worry about. You can change your MFP goals too. MFP thinks you need tons more protein than you actually do. It's fine to eat good carbs instead! Limit your grains, not your fruit! You'd be better off eating two…
  • I have been vegan for 8 years. I just averaged 15 days from the last month and my ratio is generally about 58% carbs, 31% fat, and 11% protein. That is close to what I would set my goals to if MFP let you set your own exact percents rather than multiples of 5. I would aim for 58-30-12. That's me, a moderately active 28…
  • A few ideas: 1. I would swap out your peanut butter for something else, as peanut butter is very inflammatory. Try almond butter. http://nutritiondata.self.com/help/inflammation 2. Cut down on processed foods. Sugar and oils are very inflammatory 3. Smoothies are a good idea. Fruit and maybe a protein powder that won't…
  • It's nobody's business what you do or don't eat or drink! People love to have company gorging themselves it seems! I am so annoyed at people trying to force me to drink alcohol or eat things I don't want to. It surprised me when someone I kniw who suffered with an eating disorder for a decade was giving me a hard time. I…
  • Vegan for 6+ years, Meat Free for 10+ years! I have an open diary and like to share recipes!
  • I'm vegan with an open diary. I love making smoothies with flax milk, fruit, kale greens! Bananas are awesome!
  • Coffee is really acidifying and blocks nutrient absorption. Your best move is to wean off of it. Otherwise try almond milk and stevia. Almond milk has 45-70 calories per cup, and stevia is 0 calories and natural! You can get unsweetend almond milk to avoid sugar and just get the sweetness from stevia.
  • Low calorie, delicious, and packed with protein: Black Bean Brownies! They are seriously delicious!! http://minimalistbaker.com/vegan-gluten-free-black-bean-brownies I replaced half the sugar with stevia to cut even more calories and it worked wonderfully!
  • Eliminating or at least cutting down on gluten (wheat) is a great idea. Gluten has a negative impact on a lot of people. It causes bloating and digestion issues. Try using healthy flours like buckwheat, sorghum, and oat flours. I just posted a pumpkin bread recipe to my diary yesterday! My husband has Celiac (gluten…

  • vegan 6+ years, meat free 10+ years! open diary! Try to eat more whole foods vs processed foods. Beans and rice are relatively cheap and a good protein. Leafy greens are invaluable! You can make a vegetable bean soup pretty cheaply! throw in some garlic and dried herbs for flavor!
  • I get cold a lot easier now! Brrrrrrrrr! Also I have less natural cushiining, so sitting is not as comfortable. It makes me get up and move more!
  • First, my fitness pal overestimates protein requirements. You only need 11-12% but if you are really active 13% will do you. For example an 1800 calorie diet would require 50-60g of protein. Requirements may vary slightly due to age and sex. MyFitnessPal suggests 68g for inactive 1800 calorie diet, for comparison. My food…
  • Yay for supportive parents! Wish I had that when I was transitioning! 6+ years vegan now, and 10+ years rotting flesh free!
  • Broccoli actually has more protein per calorie than beef!
  • I use unsweetened flax milk by Good Karma! They sell it by the half gallon at a few of my regular local grocery stores in the refrigerated section (sometimes the natural/organic section). It's only 25 calories per cup, and full of omega 3's!

  • Have you done the elimination diet? My friend did it and found out that both gluten and dairy bothered her. She avoids both and feels great now! Those are two foods that cause a lot of problems for many people and are just not worth eating!
  • I'm vegan and eat very little processed food. My diary is open. I also work to meet my protein, calcium, and iron goals with the food I eat!
  • I'm 5'9" and vegan!
  • I drink a bunch of water to curb late night hunger if I've already met my nutritional and calorie needs. It usually works well!
  • Clean eating > calorie deficit, BUT I don't understand why you can't do both. You want to be healthy, right? Make better choices and you will be healthier and leaner! It's pretty simple. You can eat a calorie deficit and be eating complete crap and what is the point of that? It's not good for you!!!!!
  • Feel free to check out my diary. I try to eat mostly whole foods and limit processed foid which I recommend. You can make your own sauces like cheese type sauces. Make vegan friends, if only on the internet, check out recipes and do some research. Try not to eat a lot of breads. Hmmm that's what I can think of right now!

  • I was looking into the flex too. I really want a Fitness tracker/Heart Rate Monitor. I'm tired of guessing howmany calories I'm burning. Today I'm working overtime (a 16.5 hour work day) and I still don't know how to account for that. I have had my activity level set to lightly active because I am on my feet for a few…

  • I changed my macros to show calories carbs fat protein calcium and iron because my sugar is 95% from fruits and natural whole foods. I eat very very little processed sugar, and that's what matters. I work instead to keep my protein calcium and iron up instead!
  • I'm glad I found this post! I'm going off the pill in a few months after 7 years on it and I'm so excited to be hormone free! I had been looking into the copper IUD for a while with some concerns, but after just casually mentioning a vasectomy to my husvand he surprised me and is getting one in a few weeks! I've been…
  • Why not veg? Peace, love, non-violence! :)
  • Public Diary here full of vegetables! I work to meet my macros too!
  • Open veggie diary here!
  • Meat free for over 10 years! My diary is open! I've always got lots of legumes like lentils split peas, chickpeas, and various beans in the pantry as well as almonds, cashews, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, pea protein powder for smoothies, etc! Also lots of fresh vegetables and fruits in the fridge!
  • I've been cutting down on my gluten, but my husband's recent bloodwork calls for him to go gluten and soy free and avoid a few other foods. We'd love friends to share vegan recipes and favorite products with. Today we made Ethiopian food! On Friday he made gluten free seitan! He worked off of these recipes, but I'd have to…
  • A lot of your food is not vegan. Do you mean vegetarian?
