Sorry, this was the bit I picked up on... OUTSIDE PRESSURE..... this is not helping, I'm sure. It's not up to his family or your friends as to when or if you get married. Lots of people live happily together without the pressure of marriage these days. I'm not against marriage, far from it. I'm on my 2nd! lol. Be polite to…

Thanks for your replies and help :) I enjoyed the class yesterday and today, despite everyone telling me 'boy are you gonna hurt the day after' I feel really good.. so (a) I either didn't put enough effort in yesterday in which case I need to up the weights, or (b) I did a really good cool down and drank plenty of water.…

It turns out I am giving up 'calories' for Lent...... reason being, I recently adjusted my goals and workouts on MFP and to my irritation it told me I now have LESS calories to play with each day! <sigh> Means I now have to get my lazy butt to work out more each week in order to be able to eat more. Oh well.. onwards and…

If it is any help, I am over 20 stone and I go to the gym. What the others say is true, you are there for YOU.. not anyone else! Get them headphones in, crank up the music and go for it :) good luck x

Oh I did!!! Vigourous all the way! lolol Thoroughly enjoyed it and looking forward to going back next week if I can get in, as the classes are pretty much fully booked each week. I had a chat with the instructor afterwards and she said, in a typical class of one hour you can burn upto 800 cals!!!!

Try to make sure you have your own cupboard or area where you can keep your own low cal snacks/treats, which then means you have no need to venture into his 'snack domain'. My husband also has treats here but he keeps them separate. It was hard to begin with, but as time goes on you will find you are not even tempted to go…

Once a week, Monday morning. Never at any other times. :)

I don't have anything contagious, but I stayed away anyway as it's now gone into a chest infection. Keeping myself hydrated and warm and the only exercise I am doing is up and down the stairs a few times a day. Hopefully all clear by next week so I can resume gentle cardio

I like that way of thinking! lol. Right. Gym, here I come tomorrow. Thanks all for advice :)

Ok that makes sense to me now.. Thank you

The hardest part was walking through those gym doors with the eyes of very fit bods of both sexes watching. However, the instructor was great, very informative and very helpful. I did half hour there yesterday, am back up there tomorrow, to again get used to the machines, then I have another appointment with him next Wed…

A lot of my body and mental issues, I think started from when I was a child. I come from a 'big' family. We love our food, no question about it. I can remember being put on a 'diet' when I was about 10 and yes it worked, but as soon as I came off, the weight came back. Enter the teenage years... I became a secretive eater,…

Good morning :) Thanks for advice. I have no intention of giving up (then again, how often have we ALL said that! lol). Even though the weather is totally atrocious out there (I'm in West Wales, UK), not stopping me from going out. I know I need to concentrate mainly on the cardio side of things, and I haven't a clue when…

Thanks Dianne, will see how things go this week. I am also a creature of habit and so tend to stick to the same foods day in day out. perhaps a change, something different each day may help too. :)

Thank you all for your comments and advice. Yes with regards to the calories, I didn't eat them all back, tempted though as struggling with food addicition. Hoping to go for a swim tomorrow and maybe a game of badminton if my leg muscles have forgiven me by then. Will keep going :)

Same route again today, shaved about 20 seconds off the time, but since I added my weight into the Endomondo app it now says I used 415 calories on same walk! Not convinced.. Doesn't seem right. But.. heyho.. I still did better than yesterday :) Go me!

I'm on here for my health.. no.. really I am! :) lol. I was recommended this site, by a friend, and I love it. So easy and straightforward to deal with, and there are all you lovely people to help and advise if we have any issues or problems. I think 2014 is going to be MY Year, and I look forward to posting a before and…

Hi all.. Yup, over 100lb to lose here too, so count me in :)

Hi Sarah I thoroughly relate to this. Like you I am never thirsty and it felt so wrong trying to down endless glasses of water/low cal squash I try to have sips little and often and aim to drink at least 1 pint every two hours. Also I try to have at at least a pint every morning, before I go to work, so getting a head…

Well done to you :). Such an inspiration to us who also have a long way to go and a lot to lose. Shows that with determination, exercise and healthy eating, you can accomplish anything. :)

Hi, I am also in Wales (Pembrokeshire), please feel free to add me. I'm also trying to cut down on Facebook (she says, sliding the page down out of sight..) Good luck with your weight loss x

Thank you Sunman, will let you know how I get on :)

Thank you for the link :) It has already given me some good tips about nutrition, footwear and how to start.. looking at the chart though it started off with 10 miles.. Yes I can halve that to 5... but in my current unfit state, i'd better halve that again to 2.5! lol. I will read it more indepth when I'm home from work…

Try getting your family on board to help you with the weight loss/exercise. Also set a small goal each week, even if it is to lose just 1lb. Better to be slow and steady. As for the takeaways, there ARE low cal options out there, or just have a smaller plate. I know it's easier said than done. I personally hate any form of…
