  • Born in Allentown, Pennyslvania, moved to sticky, humid and hot:glasses: , Tampa Bay area, Florida and have spent more than half my life here... Hope to move farther north N. Carolina near family, or (dreaming about it ) Hawaii  .
  • I feel kind of silly :blushing: ... but I'm really not sure...there are some days when I'm home and don't do much of anything because of my back problems, but when I go to work I'm doing paperwork, sorting, and feeding papers into a scanner, stapling and my arms are constantly moving in mid air in front of me, etc. Some…
  • This lists horseback riding calories and figures it according to your weight. http://primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/jumpsite/calculat.htm This one lists types of horseback riding...type in "horse" on the right side of the page in the pink box area and a list will appear.…
  • I sort of have the same kind of question.... feel kind of silly:blushing: ...there are some days when I'm home and don't do much of anything because of my back problems, but when I go to work I'm doing paperwork, sorting, and feeding papers into a scanner, my arms are constantly moving in mid air in front of me, etc. Some…

  • Follow up- Thanks for all the great advise. His last day was Friday the 19th. I gave him a card with a personally composed poem and my email and cell phone number that Wednesday and he said, " I'll be here till Friday, so I'll keep it on my desk desk till then." Additionally I sent him an e-card to his work email that said…
  • This sounds like you could add in some frozen/thawed french style green beans to round it out for a complete meal over the rice. They wouldn't add that much more in calories. I'll be trying this soon!
  • I'd thought about asking him for his email, but I'm not sure he has one outside of work....(I know that sounds wierd, who doesn't have a computer these days, right? But, believe it or not, I do know some people who don't because they have to deal with them at work and don't want one at home too) I don't know about…
  • Hello everyone, I dropped out for awhile and even kept off the weight I had lost for several months, but am in physical therapy now and gained some back. (Yikes!!!) What I need to know from you all...can anyone give me some pointers on how to let someone from work (who will be leaving for another job within 2months....I…

  • I always loved "Horton Hears a Who" from the Dr. Seuss book series when I was a child (and how upset I was about everyone laughing at him and saying he was silly for thinking he heard something), how little did I know then that WE are really that speck of dust in the whole scheme of things....and that like Horton, God…
  • Wow, sounds like Canada is the place to send kids to school for healthy eating habits! I don't know about the offerings in different states in the U.S., but I spoke with my sons middle school cafeteria manager and she explained to me that the reason schools differ in what they offer the kids depends on how lazy or…
  • I think there should be a law that salaried employees can't be worked more than 60 hrs/week....80 hours doesn't allow enough time for sleep and personal care (let alone family) till the weekend...not good at all :noway:  I hope you do get a break sometimes, like slow periods when you only have to work 20 hrs/week.…
  • Banks posted this very informative link, after reading it, my comment is, what's wrong with teaching the kids how to eat healthier by snacking on good foods? Good chance to set an example? I was thinking today how sad that our educational system is sorely lacking in teaching our kids healthy eating habits....I always hated…
  • Poses the question....how much better or easier has technology made our lives in the long run? Not to sound old fashioned, but how much better have our children's lives become since mom is out working and relying on fast food or store bought meals with high concentrations of sodium and chemicals ...but low concentrations…
  • Made a copy, thanks, says it all so well....certainly explains why the hunger every 2 hours when starting out with breakfast....and how not to fear that hunger but use the very natural function efficiently. that you do so much for this site....hope the wife doesn't feel like an MFP widow!! LOL
  • Just to add...I'm pretty sure the amounts of fat (and type of fat) in those calories make a difference, as well as the balance of fiber. Beans are high in calories, as is milk...but beans are high fiber, no fat calories and milk is no fiber and high fat calories. Brown rice is high fiber as well...as opposed to the oreos…
  • I know with me there are times when just pressure can cause bruising, such as holding a bucket or bowl with my legs to drop the potato peels into, etc. Same for when I was married and intimate. You don't really notice it at the time, but later (sometime days) the bruise(s) shows up and you can't imagine where it (they)…

  • Guess I add my 2 or 3 cents worth.....started out when I was a little girl with Michael Landon (Bonanza, Little House on the Prairie).....Richard Dean Anderson-(General Hosp. that my mom watched, then on to MacGyver)......Harrison Ford in my teens..(Star Wars, and what, half a million movies since?)......Adrian Paul.. (the…

  • This is probably a stupid question, but isn't the oatmeal a bit dry or do you use cooked oatmeal?
  • Cassia, please go to this post and read the link posts. You did great eating your calories, but I fear you have your settings for weight loss too high. These people know what they are talking about when it comes to not going too far below your BMR (basic metabolic rate) because that is the amount of calories your body uses…
  • Ice cream is usually measured in liquid ounces, like your liquid measuring cup. If they say a serving is 6 oz. (actually the marble slab website says a serving is 6.75 oz.net weight so that's closer to 7oz. and they strangely use weight instead but use 'cup' for the frozen yogurt,…
  • Well, sgtinvincible.......(should I call you Mr. Smooth? ) since you are going to keep this one alive.....IMHO: This is a question that I believe should be asked with the intention to make people THINK....and not really answer to anyone but themselves. Because everyone IS entitled to their own opinion, and…
