  • I'm having a double knee replacement January 9th...... I go to a cross fit gym 4-5 times a week. Owner has modified some of the exercises for me ..... No I can not squat jump onto a box!! lol...... but everything else is a go. It's a *kitten* some days but I love it AND I'm getting my muscles as ready as I can for surgery.
  • In the past my goals were very similar to many on here .....be more active.... learn to run...run 5k... run a half.... run a full..... I've been lucky to do all of these. This year my goal is to be able to walk..... hopefully with no pain. :# I'm scheduled for a simultaneous bilateral knee replacement January 9th. Lots of…
  • I still hurt and I've been doing it for months! Who knew I had glute and ab muscles???? I hate *kitten* Wednesday.... :# :s :p
  • I'm hoping op will give us an update too!! It would help alot of other moms experiencing the same or similar!
  • I have followed their program with one little adjustment and have had FANTASTIC success!! The only adjustment I made was not buying their product. By eating balanced lower calorie meals and exercising daily just like they recommend I've lost over 100 lbs. The "herbal" part does nothing! I looked at it and actually went in…
  • I get everything ready and set out the night before. My husband is retired so I don't really want to wake him up every morning at 4:30 opening and closing drawers and such. I shower and change into work clothes at the gym so it takes a bit of discipline to have everything all set up & packed. But then in the morning I just…
  • Are you looking for exercises just to try to keep as fit as you can while you recover or for losing weight as your title suggests? Cause you don't have to exercise to lose weight.......... be diligent in your weighing and logging and stick to your calorie goal. You don't have the cushion of "exercise calories" but it is…
  • Ice baths help with inflammation. :# :)
  • I ran alone down country roads also. I ALWAYS let my husband know which route I was going and about how long I would be. He actually came looking for me a couple of times, both times I had been talking to neighbors who stopped while driving by. I carried bear spray and if I was on trails wore bear bells. I mostly worried…
  • Pretty much the same only up at 4:30 - hour drive into the city and gym before work. I also try to get a 40-45 min cardio workout in at lunch..... luckily gym is like 60 seconds from my office. Sadly I am one of those hated creatures............. a morning person! :) Just works for me.
  • Today's workout is sponsored by the makers of Bengay and Aleve! x 3 : 6 burpees 5 get ups 40 meter vailslides 3 S/L hurdle jump with hold (e/l) x 3 : 6 deficit lunge with SLDL (e/l) 8 eccentric vailslide ham curls 15 banded S/L rvrse hyper ext (e/l) 30 banded wall walks x 3 : 20 hip thrust (with weighted bar) 15 hop split…
  • I guess I fall under the "more specific fitness goal" category ..................... I do 60-80 min HIIT workout in the morning 4-5 days a week and 30-40 minutes easy cardio..... stationary bike, treadmill, rower at lunch. I'm lucky cause: a) I'm a little older with less "life" distractions b) the gym is like 60 seconds…
  • Hey look at it this way..... even if your at the back of the pack..... your still in the pack. Chill and enjoy. I was NEVER fast when I ran......... still loved it and I swear no Olympic Gold medalist felt better than me when I finished my first 5km!!! All relative man...... bask in the glow of your effort! :)
  • I try to stay away from negative words like "cheat". I log everything cause that's just what works for me. It's not so much about how many calories over my goal I am that day but more about being able to look back and see if those "over" days are becoming a trend. I know I will always have to be "mindful" when it comes to…
  • I've got two bad knees - scheduled for a double knee replacement Jan 9th :) Rowing got me thru last winter and was instrumental in my 100lb + weight loss. One thing I will say..... if you do get one.............. Watch ALL of the Concept 2's "How to row properly" videos !!!! Seriously...... incorrect rowing technique is a…
  • Hi - I'm on everyday..... I've lost approx 115 lbs in the last 18 months and am currently hitting the crossfit gym 5 days a week in preparation for a double knee replacement in January. Feel free to add me. :)
  • The injury didn't cause you to gain weight, eating more calories than you burn did. I lost almost all my weight by weighing and logging my food and sticking to my calorie goal. It took me about three months to slowly begin introducing everyday normal activity ..... walking, biking, etc....and none of it to the excess as I…
  • It's as simple..... and as hard..... as this!!!
  • Double knee replacement January 9th!!
  • Started at 288 lbs in April 2017..... 112 lbs lost...... only 20 or so left to go! I went from hardly being able to walk or stand to crossfit workouts 5 days a week ...... Prepping for my double knee replacement January 9th! :p finally starting to feel comfortable in my own skin..... loose and wrinkly as it is. :) :) :)
  • No more than 50%.... I haven't gotten to maintenance yet and this gives me a buffer against overstated exercersize calories.
  • Is the 1200 calories net after eating back exercise calories? Because unless your a tiny person with not a lot of weight left to lose there's just no way you're not losing on 1200 calories. Which means you might be netting more calories than you think.
  • Wow..... this exactly!! I will say, having gone down this road a couple of times, I actually feel the best when I'm "losing weight". Because to me it's not about losing but gaining..... gaining control of my diet, my fitness, my life!! It's a slow process with twists and turns, ups and downs but I truly believe committing…
  • Geesh..... life is too short to let what you think others are thinking bother you.... You've done amazing ! And it was probably just a shock to them...... seriously, peoples memories are short .... give it a week or two or three and life goes on and they will have forgotten the "old" you. ;)
  • Hi everyone...... I see this thread was revived..... YAY !! That gives me a chance to update it. So..... I ended up purchasing a used rower...... worked on it and my bike on a trainer all last winter. Walked, biked, kayaked and golfed this summer. Fast forward and I've lost 115 lbs with about 20 to go. I'm scheduled for a…
  • My condolences on your fathers passing, I just lost my mother 3 weeks ago. :( As to getting up early? An hour commute into the city means I'm up at 4:30am so I can make the gym by 6:00 before I start work.... lol.... it sucks..... never used to be a problem when I was younger..... but I'm definitely finding it harder to…
  • Agree ! I will say that losing weight completely got rid of my back pain - but I was closing in on 300 lbs. As to being embarrassed by how much you went "backwards"...... welllllllllll your not alone. In 2004 I lost 105 lbs, in 2005 I ran my first marathon....... in the next few years I ran 17 halfs, 4 fulls and an ultra…
  • I'm up at 4:30am to get to my gym by 6:00am - it's an hour commute for me. Then work and another hour commute. But then I'm a morning person and usually in bed before 10:00pm :) I've gone a few times after work but it just doesn't feel the same...... doing it in the morning energizes me for the whole day.
