  • My first reaction was to agree on lighter accessories... but then I realized that I'm 'trying it on' for my own coloring. OP has a rather light skin tone and black hair - very high contrast looks. Quite enough to support and even demand high contrast black accessories. Well, maybe one of the three could be something other…
  • Recipe for feeling light as a feather:  1. Go downhill skiing. Spend several hours going up and down mountains with several pounds of rigid plastic boot strapped tightly to each of your feet. For extra bonus - rent the boots, don't buy your own, expensive fancy ones. If you can't ski - even better, more time walking…
  • I once told an acquaintance: "Have you lost weight? You look good". She gave me an incredibly dirty look and responded "I've been very ill". I apologized, but that relationship never recovered, she doesn't even say hello to me anymore. Not to mention that some people hate comments on their weight, no matter how positive.
  • Add me too! 47, 2 boys, lifelong struggle with weight. Currently trying for 130lbs (I'm 5'3"). On MFP since August. Actually - it's a milestone, I joined on August 11! Exactly 5 months ago. 20 lbs in 5 months is not a terribly impressive result, but I'll take what I can get. Exercise is my biggest problem - I still haven't…
  • The ads you see in most civilized sites are based on your internet usage. We all see different things - complaining about *your* ads only tells the world what you have been looking at  Have you looked up a recipe lately? My personal favorite is when people get indignant about porn ads. :smokin:
  • I have a question that's probably only peripherally scientific. If a group of cells is full of water, wouldn't it feel *less* squishy than the cells with a little water around a fat droplet? What's the relative density there? If we are talking water masking fat loss, it would mean same weight or same volume? Or is the…
  • I joined Curves a few years ago, when I was at my highest weight and quite out of shape. It's very low intimidation, an easy circuit, but as you get stronger it's possible to increase intensity. Compared to other gyms I've been to, it was very simple and user-friendly. There was a mix of women in very different shape at my…
  • Yes. On the "Check-in" page, go to "Edit previous entries". Add your starting weight to the date in the past. Keep your current weight to today. The default assumes that you are starting now.
  • This is a really cool one! I find these "accidental confirmations" even more inspiring than numbers on the scale, or more straightforward things :flowerforyou:
  • Parties. And party dresses. And dancing. (I'm actually not as shallow as I seem to appear.... )
  • There's more to fit than size. I did this exactly once - let someone talk me into buying a pair of too-small pants. Yes, I lost weight, and yes the size fit, but they just didn't fit me right. Did not look good. And then I lost more and they got too loose and I got rid of them without any regret - except the wasted money.
  • Because it's over a year old. Zombie thread.
  • SW - 166 w1 - 156 w2 - 153 w3 - 155 w4 - 152 w5 - 153 w6 - 152 I don't even know why I bother...
  • Fairy tale characters can be easy - Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, Snow Queen etc. You need a cheap costume wig, makeup and some cape/hat - things easy to throw over your normal clothes. Or you might be able to style your own hair, wear hats or crowns. Another perennial favorite is a pirate - eye patch, tricorne hat…
  • I'm in. Something I'm doing is not working, so I'm re-examining my food habits... again. I'm not really sure what I define for myself as binge, but now I'll be watching it.
  • SW - 166 w1 - 156 w2 - 153 w3 - 155 w4 - 152 w5 - 153 Net result - I've been stuck around same 2 lbs for almost a month now. Not happy. On the bright side - I'm not gaining. And I'm not giving up.
  • Still stuck on same number - three weeks in the row. Not very promising. I'm not quitting, I'll take any loss at all, even if it isn't 15lbs.
  • Mine is an expression of my general attitude on the process. I like diet and exercise about as much as cats like swimming. (disclaimers for that swimming breed, generalization, etc.) And I'm doing it anyway - just like the cat - because I need to. Well, and I like cats.
  • I don't think of it as "doing a weigh in". I just step on the scale in the morning, if I don't forget or get too busy - just to see how things are going. I log it when I see a new number for a few days in a row. I just like seeing trends - fluctuations don't freak me out and don't depress me. Some people like it, some…
  • SW - 166 w1 - 156 w2 - 153 w3 - 155 w4 - 152 4 lbs in 4 weeks. Not terribly impressive. Well, there's still some time :ohwell:
  • I've always been overweight. Not hugely, just "plump", probably near upper end of normal. My family was pretty good about healthy eating, but I was never into any sports, and yeah, genetics. Started to really put it on after 30, culminating in 180 lbs (after pregnancies, surgeries and other stuff.) Decided to do get my act…
  • I got two pairs of pants that were a bit tight, at the end-of-summer sales in 2012, thinking that I only need to lose a few pounds for them to fit well. Instead by the following summer I gained another 20. Hopefully next summer. I generally don't buy smaller sizes though. Once I let myself be talked into buying a…
  • SW - 166 lbs Sept 21 156 Sept 28 153 Oct 5 155 I've been reading forums with graphic descriptions of all the horrors of 1200 calories, or, heaven forbid, less. So I tried to make sure I get at least 1200 last week (despite my age, height and weight). Result - plus 2lbs. I think my diet plan is to cut down on forum reading.
  • I'm at the same number as last week. Because I spent the week reading forums and worrying that maybe I don't get enough calories. So I was trying to have more, which I didn't even want. Gained 2lbs from it. I'm over that now and back to actually trying to lose the extra weight I have. But the week is a total net waste. :(…
  • That is not necessarily a bad thing. OP was looking for a girlfriend, not a race... :smokin:
  • Oh, I'm late to the party. I'm 47, 12 and 15 year old kids, still 25lbs to lose, and looking for company on the journey. I think having people to share with is an important part of the effort. At least for me it is. Add me if you'd like!
  • Ohhhh, data!   OK, I think I'm now ready to go figure out my own BMR and TDEE. Thank you!
  • If you like veggie pizza, maybe some sort of a veggie omelet would be ok? Or just some vegetables with cheese? Maybe a frozen pack of mixed veggies if you want it fast - so you just dump some in a pan, add an egg or some cheese - and a few minutes later it's ready?
