  • Wait, your dog is a French bulldog and her name is Stella? That's very Modern Family.
  • Yup, I will probably make a trip to Sweatshop or maybe Runnersneed when I can swing it. Hah! Still a student, so technically not paying that type of taxes...I think.
  • I borrowed some from my friend and tried it out. The problem isn't the laces but something plasticky. Just part of the design, I guess. I appreciate all the help but it appears that there is no way around it. Just have to give them away and get a new pair.
  • Thank you for the suggestion but I have tried and it does't work. I have tried Brooks Ghost 7, but they gave me blisters and the advice I got was that that probably means they weren't right for me. So, I exchanged it for these Mizuno. The Mizuno aren't quite at 100 miles yet. They are probably only around 80ish. And I…
  • Great point about that!
  • Oh wow, that is really good after-sale service.
  • Thank you for taking the time to reply. I see all of your points. I am always vigilant about avoiding injuries when I can and was just hoping for a hail Mary (so to speak) in that someone experienced the same thing and found a way around it (especially those who own Mizunos) before I give them up. Appears that I have to…
  • Oh, I should also add that I have tried different ways of lacing and it doesn't work.
  • I have the same pain, I think. Suspect that it may be extensor tendonitis. But yeah, rest and ice it. Also maybe try to lace your shoes differently. I am currently using Mizuno Wave Rider and the top of the shoes are quite stiff. That may also be the case for you.
  • In London. Lost the weight and got very near to my goal but gained some of it back because of binge eating. So now back at it.
  • It's lower than the shins, I think. The pain is at where the tongues of the shoes are (or rather where they end). Funny thing is that I have been running in these shoes for awhile and I don't unlace them after each use and usually just slip in. No problem whatsoever. The pain isn't sharp, though, but I am still going to…
  • I was hoping for a longer run but the the front of my ankles (what is it called?) hurt on both sides. Not sure why. 2/12 - 3.2 miles. 3.2miles/160 miles.
  • Aiming for 160 miles. Not sure if I will make it but I believe in aiming high and at this point, the goal is realistic.
  • I used to, and sometimes still do (injury, long break from running, etc), run 15 min miles. People walk much faster than my run. No shame in that. I think as long as you're out there working on it, it doesn't matter if it's a 5 mins miles or 20 mins mile. You're a runner.
  • This. And sometimes, they very helpfully put up a sign saying that the item is in season.
  • I shop at Sainsbury's. They have this membership card that allows you a certain amount off of your next purchase. You can also use your point as cash. They also have bulk buy and offers like 3 for £2, etc. I have friends telling me that Asda is much cheaper but when I compared the prices online, they are pretty much the…
  • Full time law-student with a really small freezer here. So can't really do much bulk meal prepping. That and like you, I want to eat what I want to eat. So many assignments and tests these couple of weeks. But hopefully I can still get all my workout sessions in.
  • Actually I experience that with my Wave Rider as well. But I still love them. I love Brooks Ghost but was getting blisters from them even when I was just doing short runs, so had to return them. Am going to test out a pair of Saucony Triumph and a pair of Mizuno Evo Cursoris tomorrow. Got them in a sale. :D
  • Anyone who knows anything about running knows that we all have different pace, influenced by various factors. Who cares what the guy thinks? I am almost like you. Used to run at 9min/mile for about 10 miles but after some injuries and moving away, I am now at 12++min/mile and only for 4 miles. But I am not giving up…
  • I have that every month. My run suffers and I am tired/ sluggish. Then it gets better around day 2 of TOM.
  • I think most people cross train to prevent overtraining. If you're just looking to burn some calories, I don't see how it's bad to stick with just one type of cardio. That said, it is still a great idea to introduce some variety into your routine. As an aside, I hate using the elliptical, too. Funny how people say that it…
  • The one here only has smith machine. Just the one. No squat rack, nothing. And the line to use the smith machine is really long.
  • Thank you for the replies. I guess I am going to take the train there. But am definitely walking home as the only reason I don't want to walk there is to avoid losing my pre-running high.
  • I thought so, too. I used to not be able to run even 200m and was literally the last in every running event in school. Heck, even just 2-3 months ago I couldn't run a full minute. Now I am running more than 10km every other day. C25k is a great program to start you off. Also, since you're new to running, run slow. Like…
  • Seems like it may very well be the air quality/ temperature. It has been a little hazy here these last couple of weeks. I shall monitor it and see if there's a change in performance. I appreciate all your inputs. :flowerforyou:
  • Since I don't want this thread to go down that road, let me reiterate. My difficulty here is not in my attitude towards running. Rather it's the fact that I am completely exhausted (out of breath, physically tired) at that point when I have not encountered this problem in my past runs. It's a physical barrier. While I…
  • Thanks all, for your assistance. I do appreciate it. I hope you don't think I am being difficult and shrugging off everything you all suggested. I was just providing information so that you can have all the information you need to help me. The point made about maybe it's the weather/temperature could be it even though it…
  • Not in the UK right now. Hence, only able to run outside when I return to UK in September. Not looking for excuses but I was out most day running (rain or shine) when it was feasible.
  • My worry is that it's four bad runs consecutively. I've experienced the interspersed bad days and know that they are quite normal. And also, I am actually at a really slow pace in that I walk faster than I run. Nope, I don't drink. As for coffee, I have not had any for a couple of months. Also, I drink A LOT of water each…
  • On a treadmill right now. Running outside is not very feasible at the moment due to the temperature and safety but I will be back to running outside next month. Nevertheless, thanks for the perspectives.
