  • I’m back after a long absence. Diagnosed in 2012, lost 125 pounds in the space of 2 years, at one point my A1C was 4.9 and I was kicking butt. Then I got pregnant with my daughter....suffered a painful, acrimonious divorce.... and I just didn’t care, as awful as that sounds. The shock to my system came this weekend - my…
  • Are there any services like this that will send meals for just one person? I hate to spend the money for 2 people when it's only just me and I may not necessarily want leftovers.
  • Back here again after a devastating, painful divorce and the birth of my daughter. I had lost 120 pounds previously, but I'm back up again to a depressing 303. Could use some encouragement. :/
  • Feel free to add me if you like. I'm 44 with a ONE YEAR OLD daughter. Yep. Started REALLY, really late.
  • It's actually going there that I don't like. Once I AM there, I'm glad I came. It's just taking the time to actually get on the train/bus/etc. and travel there, especially if you're on a tight commuting schedule like I am. You don't feel that there's enough hours in the day already, so taking the time to get there feels…
  • I feel intense shame just typing this, but.... I used to binge on cake frosting, of all things. An entire tub of Betty Crocker cream cheese cake frosting. No cake needed. I think that's when I hit my low point. :(
  • LOL, "fun-sized". I'll have to tell my husband that one the next time he makes fun of my height. (I'm scraping 5'4". Barely.)
  • I have a T-Fal steamer that has saved my life on more than one occasion. I just throw a piece of chicken or fish in the bottom compartment, some raw veggies on top, turn it on for 30 to 45 minutes (depending on what I'm making), voila finished. Throw on plate, eat. (I'm also a diabetic and have to watch my meals. I'm also…
  • I currently take a multi-vitamin, 50,000uu of Vitamin D (I'm EXTREMELY deficient, according to the doctor), chromium picolinate (which I suspect is doing absolutely nothing), and an extra 600mg of calcium (since I don't drink milk and my family is prone to osteoporosis).
  • In a way I'm grateful because it means I can't look up how many calories those Dunkin Donuts in the breakroom have... which means no donut. Saved! :cold_sweat:
  • I used to hate the taste of ground turkey (in anything), but I started using it in chili because my husband preferred it. I've grown so used to it that I've started using it in other recipes, and I finally "braved" it in burger form the other day. To my shock, it wasn't nearly as awful as I'd remembered, and now I probably…
  • I've tried the red velvet Oreos. Unfortunately (or, maybe, fortunately) for me, they tasted just like... a regular Oreo. I was actually kind of disappointed. I was expecting a lot more. At least I don't have to worry about them being in the house. I left the whole package with my mom, heh.
  • I also used SP for a very long time before I joined here - I'd lost a good deal of my excess weight through that service (but I still have more to take off, ugh). I also noticed a HUGE calorie difference - it's much more restrictive there than it is here and sometimes I do wonder if that's the reason I haven't seen as much…
  • Oddly, I've also found the SF Torani at Burlington Coat Factory, of all places, in the housewares section. Usually at ridiculously low prices, too. :)
  • I suspect that I may be allergic to an ingredient in the powdered mixes. I don't have as much trouble with the liquid stuff (although if I drink too much of it, the same thing starts to happen - I can usually do about 1 full water bottle before it starts to bother me). Food coloring additives do seem to trigger off the…
  • I actually can't drink water flavored with Crystal Light, or Mio, or anything added other than natural fruit. There's something in the mix that irritates my throat something awful - it gets dry and scratchy and feels terrible. I've noticed that Powerade Zero does the same thing. There's just something in there that my body…
  • My reply will probably be lost in the shuffle, but I am approaching this question from the POV of your girlfriend - because I used to BE that person. My last boyfriend (before I got married) was expressing his views very much like you do now in your situation. He would try his best to encourage me to lose weight, get fit,…
  • I use the sugar free creamer and add in a couple of extra Splendas to make up for the missing sweetness. I know, both are bad for you, but I refuse to give up my coffee and if this is the only way I can have it, so be it. I managed to cut it down from 100+ calories a cup to about 35. I can live with that.
  • 14 degrees currently, feels like 1. Forget THAT. I miss July SO MUCH.
  • I've been "punishing" myself the past couple of months, but everything you've written makes sense. No more of that. I needed to read this today, so - thanks.
  • I mix 1/4 cup of Dole mandarin oranges (the no sugar added kind) with a cup of Jello Sugar-Free Vanilla pudding. Pudding = 60 calories, oranges = 30 calories. Total of 90 calories. Pretty good stuff.
  • The holiday CoffeeMate peppermint mocha (sugar free). What mint? There was absolutely NO mint in it - just a lot of xylitol flavor. Eeesh. I usually love CM's sugar free line but that one was a definite no.
  • I've lost about 100 pounds or so - I was wearing a 44DDD/F at my highest (24/26), but I'm now a 14/16 (so far) and I'm down to a 38DD, so... not much change. The most dramatic weight loss has been in my thighs, oddly. Probably because I do a lot of leg work, but still... there's not much left to "burn" there so now it's…
  • Homemade hummus. I make a roasted garlic hummus that blows my mind, every time! Chickpeas, lemon juice, roasted garlic, olive oil and tahini (if you don't have tahini or can't find it, peanut butter works really well, too).
  • Tried this recipe this morning - not bad. I did have to make a few alternations due to being out of some stuff, though, but I think it turned out very well, despite that. Subbed 1 container of Yoplait 100 Boston Cream Pie Greek yogurt for the plain Subbed chocolate whey protein powder for vanilla (I used the Market Pantry…
  • Good evening  Welcome to your new life. You'll love it here! I've been here since January of last year, but started my road to health on September 11, 2012 after a devastating T2 diabetes diagnosis. I've managed to lose nearly 120 pounds since that date (although I've recently put a bit back on due to holiday…
  • You'll laugh, but I sit on mine for about 15 minutes (in the package, of course). When I get up - nice and FLAT and warm.
  • I use a Ninja blender, but it's similar, and I use it for everything, not just smoothies. I make soup in it, homemade hummus, all kinds of stuff. It's one of the best kitchen tools I own.
  • Oh, why not, I'll give it a go. Name: Carrie Height: 5'4" Starting Weight: (1/1/15) 247  Goal Weight: (1/31/15) 240 (-7 lbs.) 1/1: 247 1/8: 1/15: 1/22: 1/29: 1/31: L/G success for the week: L/G success for the month: Struggles & Successes:
  • I must be the only one that did this... (hanging head in shame) I used to eat a 12 ounce tub of Betty Crocker/Duncan Hines cake frosting. No lie. It didn't much matter what kind, either, as long as it was sweet and creamy it had my name on it - I usually bought the 'cream cheese' one, the kind you put on red velvet cakes.…
