I'm in- going to shoot for 5 lbs. Add me if you like!

I don't know for sure, but if you eat late and go to bed shortly after, wouldn't your body not metabolize the food as well? I notice that if I go to bed soon after eating on a regular basis, I tend to put more weight on over time. That may just be me though...

This is great advice- thanks for asking the questions ForBaacon! I was wondering the same thing, weighed myself a couple days before 'starting' and had gone up 7lbs OVERNIGHT!! Glad to see I'm not the only one that experiences it! Does anyone find that pushing the water (even with the bloating and such) continues to help…

go ahead and add me too- 5'4" and starting this year at 167lbs. Looking to get down to about 135-140 range. Could use some friends for exercise support especially :)

Does tea count towards water intake? I've been told that since there is so much else added, it doesn't really count, but if I can count it that would make a big difference for me :)

I'm allergic to cinnamon. Despite being a giant nerd and having other oddities, this is what seems to stump people the most.

From what I understand (and I'm a big diet pop drinker myself), the aspartame or whatever happens to be in the pop tricks your body into thinking that "sweet does not equal weight gain" and ends up almost being worse for you in the long run and/or makes you crave sweet foods/drinks even more. I applaud your being able to…

I completely hear you on the school/work front- I'm back in school, just finishing up my first of 4 years (again) and just started 2 new jobs in additional to the one finishing with the school year. I'm really struggling but it's awesome to know that there are other people having the same issues for the same reasons! We…

I've noticed the same thing- lost a little bit in measurements at first but then stopped dead. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing, it will happen eventually!
-
I'm in too, not looking to lose quite that much but hey, motivation is motivation!

make a pizza (regular or cauliflower crust, whichever) and use green peppers to make 4 leaf clovers on top!

Greek yogurt is good for dipping, but there's really no way to go wrong with anything you add/dip your celery in. It is good plain, but I love having the option of adding to it to satisfy a craving :) Cottage cheese, PB, tuna, cream cheese, all of the above!

I've seen a really yummy looking vegetarian lasagna recipe that kind of mixes 2 of the above idea- eggplant substituted for the noodles and tofu for the ricotta. It looked fabulous and had a bunch of other vegetables mixed in with it :)

This is hilarious, good for you for sticking up for yourself. People need a serious slap in the face.

I agree with the fruits and nuts, I was doing some reading and considering getting stricter with my diet the way you have, and that seems to be the general consensus- more fruit and nuts :) Couldn't hurt either way!

the Happy Herbivore cookbooks have a ton of recipes under 300 cals, and they're all vegetarian/many vegan/gluten-free. Some awesome ideas
-
That's a great idea, thanks!!

bump!

yes, and a cup of beans is a lot- they're really filling
-
Also: lots and lots of beans! He stresses that so much in the book, and for good reason :)
-
Read the 'Eat to Live' book, he has lots to say about olive oil and it makes sense...
-
does anyone know if there is a successful way to veganize this recipe? maybe sub out the eggs for tofu or something?

I made the switch for a couple of reasons. A friend of mine as well as my sister have been unable to tolerate dairy of any kind for about a year now, and my sister has been pretty bummed that she's so isolated in her food choices at family dinners and stuff. I figured this is a show of solidarity, especially if I can find…

I agree with you, but hey like you said, to each his own.

My friend told me the same thing this weekend- she's completely cut out all processed foods (as well as a number of other things, but I'm not prepared to go that far just yet), but I'm having the exact same problem as everyone above and it sounds like it might be worth cutting out the processed/'not from scratch' stuff. I…

bump, thanks!!

I'm not planning to increase it- I just notice that I go over on sodium more often than anything else, and I'm trying to find a way to balance it out...what types of food are good for potassium? I have a lot of allergies to food, mostly fruit and the ones that I know of that are high in potassium (like bananas) are an…

I had the same issue on the treadmill, but I put together a playlist and if I can't sing along, I walk/jog/run to the beat. I killed almost 2.5 hours today on the treadmill doing it, it was a lot more fun than it sounds lol and I'm a musician so maybe I'm just easily amused by stuff like that :P Might be worth a try!
