  • Haha- tell that to the south! High is still in the mid-90s here in Memphis. Can't wait for actual fall weather to arrive!
  • Finally, my cold has lessened enough that I was able to go to the gym today and put in an honest workout without being a sinusy mess. Back on track with my goal of 5 workouts a week after being waylaid for half of week 2 & part of week 3. On the plus side, I can definitely tell now that I am getting stronger. My trainer…
  • I had the same problem, and it cleared right up after I gave up wheat. But I have noticed that certain foods (like salads with ranch dressing) will trigger it. I gave up dairy a few days ago (on Whole30), but I have a cold right now so it's hard to tell what those results will be.
  • Thank you guys! Looks like I won't be ordering them.
  • I totally bombed week 2. Got a cold, and only made 2 of my planned 5 workouts (the two times I met with my trainer- if not for her, I would've blown those two off also). This is a new week, though. Breathing much better, and even managed a little cardio before training today. Also started Whole30, which I am completely…
  • You check the label of every cold medicine on the shelf and reject the ones with dextrose or maltodextrin.
  • Well, I finally figured out where my lack of willpower & motivation these past few days came from- Aunt Flo came this morning. Suddenly I feel like myself again. Managed to stay on track with my Sept goal of 5 workouts a week. If it hadn't been for this thread I surely would've blown this off! But persistence is paying…
  • I almost skipped the gym today, until I thought of this thread and my declaration of 5 workouts a week. So, I put on my big girl panties and went. The good news is, my heart rate was slightly lower for my 2 mile run! I'm usually around 173-175 for that second mile. Today it was right around 170! Knocked out some leg 5x5's…
  • Goal: gym 5 days a week. Made it 2/2 so far. Ran 2 continuous miles on the treadmill yesterday. Before keto and 70 lb lost that was impossible! Today is rest day. Lol. My poor quads!
  • I've got 2- My ultimate goal was about 8 lbs less than I am now, but I've been stalled for a while so I've been trying to embrace my current weight as my new goal. Then I realized the other day that I've been at this weight for two months now. This is the smallest I've ever been as an adult, and I've managed to maintain it…
  • Mmmm... waiting for it to be cool enough to make chili!
  • I've seen others that have had success with combining collagen hydrolysate with dry skin brushing and moisturizing with coconut oil.
  • I'm in! I'm close to goal; just joined a gym and they analyzed my bf as 27%. My ultimate goal is 20, but I'll be happy with 1% loss a month at the same weight. (CW 153.8) My step it up goal is to get to the gym at least 5 days a week. I'm meeting my new trainer twice a week, so that's just three days a week I have to make…
  • I have come close a few times myself, but thankfully at home with no onlookers. It's just so hard to get rid of those old so mixed I have spent sp many decades in and admit that I really don't need them. Congrats on your loss!!
  • Oh, wow. Tons of great ideas!! Thank you all!
  • Immersion blender for me.
  • @midwesterner85 - finally tried this and loved it! After 15 months of 2T of cream in my 4 cups of coffee, I can't believe I'm cutting back voluntarily. Thanks for the tip! Don't think I'm ready to go black, though. I know some people here love black, salted coffee, but I'm not quite ready to make that leap yet. Maybe next…
  • @KnitOrMiss - I have tried butter before and it was OK, but not my favorite. But now that I think about it, I was using salted butter. Maybe if I tried unsalted? I might experiment thus weekend. I tend to favor cold coffee, though, which makes using butter difficult. @midwesterner85 - I also drink 4 cups in the morning,…
  • My current favorite is scrambled egg whites. I buy the large carton and scramble the whole thing at once & store in a large Tupperware. Scoop out a cup or so, add some shredded cheese & bacon bits, and there's breakfast (or lunch). Bacon I cook by the pound by chopping it up raw and cooking on the stovetop til crispy.…
  • Ugh... I don't think I could ever do true intermittent fasting. I love the heavy cream in my coffee way too much. I've been scrupulous about the sodium today and it has made all the difference! I can't believe it has taken me this long to figure that out. Ah, well. Live and learn!
  • Thank you all so much! I love knowing that this isn't just me. lol I actually *may* have inadvertently stumbled on an answer to my hunger question today, though. A coworker (non-low-carb, but in crazy good shape) tried to convince me I need to eat every few hours, so I had a snack this morning when I usually wouldn't have,…
  • Dang, considering what some of you ladies have to deal with it guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I went from a large C to a small C, mainly just lost some back fat. I can't imagine having to strap down anything larger. I guess there's no way around it. I'm just gonna have to try some stuff on and see what I like. No amazon…
  • Okay, that looks really freaking cool.
  • I just might have to try that instead! My oven is broken right now so I can't do them properly. But filling + bacon on the side I could probably handle.
  • I don't know about boosting weight loss or anything, but I've started using the Carrington farms oil to make homemade mayo. That stuff is amazing! I'll never buy soybean oil (or any other oil) mayo again.
  • Keto-ade is my new favorite! I make up a pitcher to take to work with lite salt and lemonade mio.
  • Anyone else try the scale in a dozen places in the house to find that perfect spot where you weigh the least? No? Just me?
  • Thank you for the link, @FIT_Goat. I am going to check that out! I went on a low carb diet break last week while on vacation. I was worried that indulging in all those carbs would make my cravings worse, but by the end of the week I was just craving meat like crazy. Now I'm back home and I just want all the meat!
  • I've experimented with cauliflower rice a bit. The two variations I loved best were Mexican-style , with a little tomato sauce and Mexican spices (then add to taco salads or whatever), and with some cheese and spicy shrimp in a shrimp-and-grits-style dish. And of course, the casseroles with cream cheese and bacon. Yum!
  • So the moral of this article is, cake or death?
