  • I chose a goal Size not weight. i am 5'6"tall and the size jeans I feel good at is a 6. Not a snug 6 but a loose size 6 ( I don't like tight jeans). I have no idea what I Weight but I would like to lose about 10-12 pounds and I know this because I am into size 8 and I dont feel comfortable. I understand having a goal but…
  • Age COULD have something to do with it, as I am in the same boat. I'm 41. You also must take into account muscle mass. If you aren't an exerciser chances are you are actually gaining muscle for the first time in your life, which will then in turn help speed your metabolism. You may see an increase in your appetite too but…
  • Yes! I have too... running does help and lifting. I have been hitting the weights harder and that REALLY helps :)
  • I really feel like using a number to dictate how you feel is a shame. I NEVER EVER weigh myself anymore. I have been relatively satisfied with my "size" up until about a year ago when I started to gain, The only way I knew was that my size of jeans were going up. I still dont let doctors tell me how much i weigh when I go…
  • This is so true. Don't pay attention to the scale, please. My story is very similar to yours in that I too had an eating and exercise disorder (and some think I still do) The scale can be your worst enemy, dont let it dictate you! Not to mention you aren't giving your muscles time to recover! You need at least one day off,…
  • I peeked at your diary too and you are eating WAY too little for your workout routines. Have you tried supplimenting? I know some people will say NO! But the reason is, when you are not used to upping calories and nervous about it, sometimes to sneak an extra 200-300 in by drinking a healthy protein shake will help relieve…
  • That happened to me several years ago when I was eating WAY too little and exercising too much (its called Ammenoria) *spell check* and I didnt have a period for almost 2 years. The doctor will give you a pill to jump start it again which will take a few months. Its dangerous not to have a period. He/she or a nutritionist…
  • Yes, I can relate... but not to the ovary surgery. Did you get on hormones? I dont know for sure, but I think that could have something to do with it?
  • Too low, esp if you are working out. The key is also to keep satisfied by eating every 2-3 hours. Your metabolism will LOVE you
  • So true, i was young when I lost my weight and I was able to tighten up pretty well with exercise. Thats what it takes for sure. As I age though, i find even slightest changes in weight up and down will cause sagging skin. Keep working out, esp weight training. It helps with everything.
  • Keep going!! I love running and have been for years. It is truly a great way to maintain or lose weight, its not for everyone; but if you love it you will alwasys do it! Congrats on your new endeavor! :)
  • Me either, but I may consider Vegetarian. My BF was 100% vegan when we met, and honestly, he looked very pale and emaciated. He is also an avid runner, so that was taking alot of his energy. Also, he isn't one to cook so he was eating the same things day after day, VERY BORING! We were never able to go out to dinner.…
  • I totally agree... if you want to reach a number- use a jean size. I NEVER weigh myself partly because weight fluxuates way too much esp for women, and I lift weights... if that number disappoints me- it could ruin my day and make me feel worse. Thats just me tho ;)
  • Up your calories and UP your fitness. Its crazy you are at 16-18% body fat though. Sounds to me like you need to shock your body/system. Too long of one thing will cause plateaus no matter how hard you try. Are you sure you need to lose 15 pounds? You are at a low body fat for females already. If you feel flabby maybe work…
  • You are a smart and brave lady. Congrats on this recovery, I know how hard it is and most of it is mental. Sounds like you are on the right track, you do have alot to repair both physically and psychologically. I would agree to try with at least 2000 calories. I would also try to incorporate some exercise, only because as…
  • me either, Can someone please advise? I dont eat back all of mine, but most- still end up with eating under my caloric goal. Maybe I just dont understand why there is a NET to begin with?
  • I do roll-outs and get sore almost every time. I dont feel any strain in my neck but it does require strong upper body. Also I use the good old stability/fitness ball alot, and use it with a 10 pound weight behind my head. Planks, yes! Reverse crunch with power (shooting the legs up to the sky then bringing them parallel…
  • Yes, I still do and its been almost 20 years. Luckily for me, I worked out RIGHT after the weight came off and never stopped...and I was young so my skin got tight a little easier than it wouldl had I been older. But in regards to coming to peace with yourself, you have got to look at where you came from! Not everyone has…
  • ^^ This is so true and all these are pretty great advice. Its really all about habit, or training yourself and your body. Even getting hungry can be something you may have to more less force yourself esp in the morning. Keep the body FUELED :) i dont think that everyone has to exercise and I understand the time crunches,…
  • Thank you! geeeezz... Eating breakfast is smart. Its a proven fact that it reduces your chances of overeating throughout the remainder of the day or at night when you are more sedentary. Test the theory. if you are famished by noon or early afternoon then you will gorge yourself and most likely eat more calories than you…
  • I won't be snotty, because I may be able to relate. What is your age? I think that for me anyway, I have noticed a drop in my energy levels especially since I started counting and logging so religiously. Which can also be damaging. I am at 1200 per day net and I am definitely NOT losing. I have gained in fact, not a lot…
  • Eat breakfast! even if its a protein shake and a piece of toast! Try to get a little of both protein and Carbs. Wheat toast, half a bagel anything! It is true that your MUST eat within about an hour of waking to help keep a strong metabolism. Proven fact. I can relate to not being hungry but you should be eating 4-6 small…
