Hi all - I am on my first week of SC. I've been doing bodyweight HIIT workouts for the past two years along with some Kettlebells workouts and wanted to add in some weight workouts with it. So, here we go! Did workout A, B, and today a HIIT workout. Tomorrow is C.

I don't know if this is helpful but I've never carried a lot of extra weight except about 15 lbs in college and after my pregnancy that I had to work hard to lose. But I've always had a very active lifestyle and paid attention to what I eat. Since hitting 40 (45 now), I've had to pay close attention to all my calories and…

I'm in the same boat.. I never had to watch my weight. Had my kiddo at 40. Now at 44, I am finally back to my pre-preggo weight of 125 but with more fat (about 23%). I have to work out every day and really watch what I eat. I'm going to add running into the mix too. My goal is to get down to about 18% body weight and about…

You don't get fat and out of shape by one day of extra calorie consumption. Just like you don't get fit and healthy by one day of eating well when you mostly eat crap. Trust your body - it can deal with one day of excessive calories. Might even be a good metabolism rev-up.

If they give you a hard time, I suggest not telling people you are trying to lose weight. If your family/friends make comments, just tell them you are working out and eating healthy to be in the best shape you can and as healthy as possible. How can anyone argue with that as a goal?

The last bit is the hardest. You probably need to up your workouts to 3-4 times per week.
-
I'll join you - I bounce around between ZWOW, BR, and Daily Burn but they are all HIIT style.

It's all about working to lose BF % instead of weight. I am on the journey you are talking about and am noticing good progress. I am doing HIIT workouts and yoga. I am also eating lots of lean protein and watching calorie intake. It's hard work, but I'm enjoying seeing the results!

I'm assuming your peers are all in their 20s and early 30s. It will catch up with them if they don't learn to eat right and take care of themselves. I have always been super active and could always eat anything in my 20s and 30s. Now, at 44, I work full time and have a young child. I have to consciously track my calories…

Thank you for this great list!

Hi there, I'm 44 and I've been doing HIIT workouts since last March. My goal for this new year is to reduce my bodyfat percentage and continue to exercise and eat well. I have an extremely active 4 year-old son and co-own a business, so working out has been hard to squeeze in, but I've been making it happen!! Love to add…

Love YogaGlo.com - my favorite instructor is Dice.

I use it and like it a lot.

Oops - just reread your post and saw the part about bring a vegetarian. Yes, add nuts and legumes. If you eat eggs, add those too.
-
You also need more protein. It looks like you are eating protein once a day. Add eggs or egg whites to breakfast, some nuts, lentils, and/or meat to your meals.

If you want some great bodyweight exercises, I love Mark Laurens "You Are Your Own Gym" http://www.amazon.com/You-Are-Your-Own-Gym/dp/0345528581

HI ladies - I am new to this group. My goals for the next 2 weeks: Continue HIIT 5 days/week Continue logging food and eating clean within MFP net calorie goals Continue yoga/stretching (depending on day) and foam rolling Drink MORE than 8 glasses water/day

@bgelliott - Thanks for the great link. I am already doing HIIT regularly and lifting with KBs and bodyweight exercises (switch lunges, tuck jumps, push-ups, pull-ups, etc.). I will start to add in heavier weights at the gym. I am also upping my protein. Do you use calorie staggering?

I drink wine as a treat to myself. So, if I have a great workout and eating day AND I'm below in net calories, then a glass of wine is a reward to myself.

It's really interesting reading all of the different body descriptions and how it relates to weight. It's really telling how big an impact fat vs. muscle plays and weight really isn't reflective of how much flab and fat a person has.

Me too! This group seems very quiet...
