  • Hummus. Once you make your own, you will find it hard to buy store bought. I have that as an afternoon snack. I dip carrots, bell peppers and sugar snap peas in it. I have also added them to salads and also tried roasting them in the oven with spices. That last one didn't turn out well for me and I had to chuck the batch.

  • this site really worked for me. I didn't have too far to go, but I couldn't seem to get there no matter what I tried. This works. I try to be healty and eat the right (healthy) things but I like that I have the flexibility to eat what I want - as long as I make myself be accountable for it. (I stopped logging in and +7…
  • anything having to do with my back and / or shoulders - I feel like my arms are going to fall off. I hate when she says something about "takes the place of hours of phoning it in at the gym" and a few other of her phrases annoy me but I like that she's not too perfect looking or smiley. I don't want some implant-Barbie…
  • everything you are doing sounds fantastic. and I wonder how you have time to fit it all in? I'm jealous of your motivation is what I'm saying! my 12 hour days are killing me at work to the point that I logged housecleaning and cooking as my exercise tonight (so lame :( ..maybe you just need more time. don't give up though!…
  • you always seem to have a nice balance of foods including fruits and veggies, which I think is so important to being healthy. I look at your food diary and feel inspired sometimes when I have had a bad day. my husband & I love to make a lunch out of wine, bread, olive oil w/ herbs, hummus, olives and cheese sometimes on…
  • k, this one isn't about weight loss, but I'm game - my sister to me in front of my whole family on Christmas Eve "you smell like Febreeze...did you just take a s**t?"
  • great work - keep it up! I can't believe the difference, you really do look like a totally different person. A much happier one too! :)
  • I have found wonderful support on MFP - in real life, at first not so much. I got the "you don't need to loose, blah, blah, blah" but I have always hidden weight really well - now that I have lost most of it, and mind you I run at work on my lunchbreak so people see me in all my spandexed glory which doesn't leave much…
  • I don't log the little housework here and there like a load of laundry, or some dishes after dinner etc. but I do log a big clean on a Saturday and I only log half the time that I spend doing it (same for Gardening) since I go at my own pace. It all counts I think. If I am going to log 2 cups of salad greens which is only…
  • that's the premise for The Flat Belly Diet, by Prevention - eating heart healthy fats. I completely agree with you. Although I'm not doing the diet currently because the calorie intake at 1600 a day is too much for me right now, I am def. trying to include more oils, olives, avocado, soybeans and nuts in my diet. Also I…
  • Yep - it's prob. right - eating out is not much fun anymore because its just not worth it! (my husband thought I took a long time to order before I was counting calories...that's nothing compared to how long I take now!) Last year my office mates convinced me to get a bean and cheese burrito from Carl's Jr / The Green…
  • according to your chart I've lost the "chemical additives an American consumes each year" - wow, that's an eye opener...I'm happy to loose that - in fact chemical-wise, I'm sure I lost more that than since having quit smoking! (8 yrs ago)
  • Yep. I hate living in California. I saw Brad Pitt at the airport and he looked like a dirty bum and I thought...it's all a lie. These are just people like you and me. Except they have personal trainers, personal chefs, wardrobe consultants, make-up people, and killer salaries - no wonder they look so good! Us normal people…
  • Me too! but only in the boobie area - 10th grade boobies were fine...when I was in 10th grade! I have ample junk in my trunk so I can still afford to loose there, but I'm desperately close to needing a smaller bra cup size...WAAAAAHHHHHHHH
  • good idea, thanks! I'm making it tonight so I will try that little trick! appreciate it!
  • Not sure what constitutes as low, but 2 favorite sites for recipes are SELF.com & BHG.com. (because they give calorie counts etc.) At SELF - the Grilled Chicken with Roasted Tomato and Oregano Salsa sounds good (7.8 g carbs) although I haven't tried it yet, The Luscious noodle free lasagna is so good although I go easy on…
  • I told myself when I could do all the pushups on level 1 without resting I would go to level 2 - but I just stopped sweating on level 1 even without being able to complete the pushups so I figured "its time" - level 2 kicks my butt. sweat in my eyes by the time its over...yep, I'll be here for a while!
  • you look fantastic! amazing! what a wonderful story! I was sitting here in my pajamas getting ready to be lazy and now I just can't do it after reading your story - I want abs like yours and I am not going to get there sitting on the computer all night! Thanks! Gotta run, I've got a date with Jillian Michaels....

  • I WISH I could get my butt out of bed in the morning to make some bacon and eggs, but no... I actually had 1/2 cup quick oats, and mixed in there 1/2 bananna, 1/4 cup blueberries, 1 tbsp chopped walnuts and sprinkled cinnamon in there until my heart was content! Thats usually what I have (the blueberries was an extra treat…
  • what a great story! you made me smile and today was a crap day and I needed that! Congratulations!
  • Some of them offer food - you could have her buy you breakfast (check calories first) I thought I saw something about an eggwhite feta spinach something or other and I believe they have oatmeal too. They also sell small packets of almonds I think. Worst case scenario, they sell bottled water! Good luck!
  • I'm hoping the leftovers in our work kitchen magically disapear before I cave in! I'm trying - it's hard, I know what you are saying. Especially chocolate 3 times! Job well done - you've rightfully earned a pat on the back for that one (actually make it 3 pats on the back!) :)
  • Baby carrots, celery, bell pepper strips, 100 cal microwave popcorn (it crunches sort of!) - and this woman I used to work with got these mini-pickles (they come in a single serve container x 4 pack) and she said that really helped her get off of her potato chip craving b/c they had the salt that she needed. I guess keep…
  • I'm hungry all the time too. For me eating every few hours seems to work. I get very cranky when I'm too hungry. I make my own 100-ish calorie snacks - a tablespoon of hummus & 3 oz. of baby carrots / a lo-cal slice of bread (80 cals) toasted plus 1 wedge laughing cow spreadable cheese or the wheat thins flat breads and…
  • I had 12 pounds to loose - I have 3 left (well 3 on Friday, but weekend + wine so maybe more than that to go now) and I could use a few friends on here that I know drink on occasion. I used to drink all the time - not hard stuff just wine, and since I cut back to only weekends (plus upped my workouts and logged EVERYTHING…
  • I wouldn't. I somehow hurt the bottom of my foot while running. I was limping for a while (didn't go to the doctor) and even after I could put pressure on it, it still hurt. I took a week off from running to heal and I hated it (not running). I know you said there is no pain, only swelling, but get it checked out. It could…
  • Sometimes I look at things online (calorie counts) before I eat / drink them if I have the time and then I can say "do I REALLY want this?" and usually the answer is no. BUT, when I really want something, then I have it first (although maybe only have half the size what I would have if I wasn't counting every calorie!) ,…
  • I will add you! I run as well but stuggle with 10-15 pounds and always wondered why. Now I can actually see why and logging my breakfast and lunch before I go to work really helps me to see what I have left to work with for dinner. So if I am only left with 100 cals for dinner, I know I really screwed up the rest of the…
  • I hear you - you have to get back to being the you that you used to be! I had given up on running for a while and got so out of shape, now I'm back but sort of hit a plateau until I found this site. Your goals sound totally achievable in the timeline you have and with all the support you will have I think you will do…
