I would suggest you look into some emotional eating self help books maybe? There are some good ones out there, which unfortunately I can't recommend.

I think I've been getting ready for summer for 15 years. Maybe this summer....

Have you thought about doing a dedicated strength routine. Something like 5x5? You add 2.5kg every session until you max out, then keep trying or deload then work way back up. Proven results. It's turned my bench from 40kg-60kg in about 3 months.

Nice one!

Classic judge your success based on feel rather than a scale number. Good for you for hitting your weight goal, but if anything this should mean you should look for other ways to measure your success. Eg clothes.

This reminds me of the Facejacker episode. If you havent seen this, WATCH IT. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXzUde5DMUo

It's sad that actually none but the last one surprised me. Anyone have a link to that documentary?

Taking my missus to gym tonight, probably going to be in the same boat as you, fingers crossed she can do the bar, but unlike,y if not we will be on the dumbbells or barbell.
-
Well done for being honest, but I'm afraid you pretty much have zero chance if you don't put in the effort.

I've decided to give 5x5 a go. At least until either my cycling suffers or my weight work suffers. But by that time I'll have hopefully built some kind of foundation, at the very least it'll have me going again. Unfortunately the only drawback is that I imagine probably at least 2/3 of these workouts will have to be in the…

Runkeeper, without a doubt.

Thanks for the laughs at your terrible expense, well written!

Thanks Scott for the Jay DiCharry recommend, some good stuff. And thanks heybales aswell. I think I have to let go and realise that I don't have to get it 100% right before I start, I should just do what I can and see what works and how I feel. I might repost a similar but perhaps more refined question on the main forums,…

Thanks very much. Think I will give it a go. At least until either the cycling or the squats start to suffer. I still have the issue that for at least weekdays I'm most likely going to be working out AFTER work. Which means on an average day it'll be wake up, cycle 10 miles (mostly flat), work, cycle 10 miles home, then go…

Thanks, sadly that bring it onto my gf also wanting to start a resistance routine but wanting us to go together as she is scared of the gym. And she can only go in evenings. So that'll be workout after a full days commute. Maybe I will drive on those days! Or convince her to start in the morning.

Thanks SideSteel (and thanks for this group and all the great info you've put up, I've been a lurking fan!), I'm quite tempted to give it a go, maybe even having the one of the 5x5 days being on a weekend so I wouldn't be riding on that day. And actually on that note, what's more conflicting in my goals, riding on same day…

Thanks for the response, its funny a lot of things I've read and people i've spoken to have reaffirmed the 'dont worry about it until you start to stall'. If that is the case, would it be bad to just do 5x5? I only ask because I really like the simplicity of that program, and that damned good app they have, while…

Deadlifts!

Bump. Been thinking a lot about this to the point where I'm actually stressing. How stupid. Really want to give 5x5 a go and continue my cardio. Think I'll just take it easier, maybe a lighter gear on the bike. just pay attention to how my body feels. EDIT: I am intending to stay on a calorie deficit, perhaps 5x5 isn't for…

Thanks for the replies guys! Haven't heard of 5/3/1 but will look into it. I kinda like the simplicity of 5x5, and the fact that is an app (I like techyness of that, I'm a bit of s geek). The only thing I can honk of being a problem as you guys have said is the legs and the cycling. I could always do a…

It takes precisely 32 days, 6 hours and 14 minutes.

For tracking I'd say Runkeeper, for fun I'd say Zombies Run, for training C25K.
-
yeah delete that goal of 111 lbs. Do 20lbs chunks. Much easier.
-
I'm afraid I only do hard work and calorie control. Good luck though.
-
Well it's only two pounds difference. Find one place, leave it there. Don't even think about moving it 'just to see'. It will drive you mental.
-
Stop worrying about it, there is more to it than just one day, just be a bit less tomorrow.
-
Yes it's a bad idea in my opinion. Cos no day is the same, you might eat or drink more or less. This will play havoc with your weight throughout the day. Big down home scaled and do it in the morning.
