  • I ran the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge this year for the first time. 28 mins 30 secs.
  • When I was at the NJ Shore for my friends bachelor party weekend, my buddy introduced me as Chris Devon a club owner of several NYC hotspots. I guess I played the part well because we took these two back to the rented beach house. yikesss
  • I was sober 7 months until I relapsed on July 4th. I've been overcome with guilt and just an all-around negative attitude since then. One of the reasons I decided to kick the addiction was to get over that attitude problem I had and live a happy, fulfilling life. Sobriety is not easy, at all. You'd never think it would be…
  • I have the same goal. Yes, the site and the tools on it are designed for weight loss but the best thing on MFP, besides the hot chix, is the calorie tool. Set it to a intake level you can handle (mine is 3000 right now) and spread it out in 5-6 meals. You can add pretty much any food that exists and its more or less…
  • Na, I don't believe in bulking/cutting cycles. The abs really came thru when I quit drinking 6 months ago. I can stay lean year-round because my diet won't allow me to gain bad weight. I enjoy eating clean, so I don't feel like I'm restricting myself. The only cravings I get are for...yes, that.
  • Mostly compound movements such as benchpress, pullups, squats, bentover rows, military press, weights dips, deadlifts (8-12 rep count). I paired those with shredding exercises at a lighter weight and higher rep (20-25 reps) of barbell curls, cable crossovers, pullovers, pushups, tricep extensions, etc. good luck bro
  • Hey, I do ab circuits every other day usually at the end of my workout. I alternate with weighted ab exercises every other set. Focusing on my lower abs (hanging leg raises, captains chair, windshield wipers, swiss ball pull-ins). Upper abs I do a lot of weighted swiss ball crunches and ab wheel exercises.
  • Hey, yea I did mostly circuit training. 3-4 exercises back-to-back for 10-12 reps for each exercise. it gets the heart rate up and burns a LOT more calories than standard weight-training. 2 minutes rest then start the circuit over again (4 times). My diet is CLEAN (I ate pizza last night for the first time in 4 months).…
  • The Rotten Apple - New York City.
  • Great responses. I'm making a list of new teas to try!
  • Glad you discovered the joys of bicycling. I'd agree that going in the early AM is probably best if you want to avoid getting overheated, but I'd also recommend water bottle attachments (most bikes have room for two!). Take a break every half hour or so, and wear light-colored, loose fitting clothing.
  • I would say the best way to get out of this slump is just suck it up and go workout. Run, lift weights, play some sports, do whatever. Even if you need a few cups of coffee to get you started, once your body gets in motion and starts burning calories you will not only feel so energized afterward but your body will be…
  • Try russian twists with a weight or medicine ball. Pair that with leg raises and swiss ball crunches. You will definately feel it for days!
  • Dont waste 'em - Banana Bread!
  • A strong back is essential to building a body worth competing with. Good compound movement circuits such as deadlifts, pullups, rows. I would perform a set of 6-8 reps of each exercise back-to-back (no pun intended) for a great results.
  • Haha, what in the world is a "Jewish accent"? How can a religion have an accent?
  • Hey, hows your TFCC tear healing? Are you able to lift weight without pain? I may have to go in for surgery and am wondering how long I will be out of the game. Thx
  • So, I tried the meditation. Its much more difficult than I thought it would be. It really takes a lot of concentration (on nothing). There is a circus going on up there and it takes a long while to slow things down. But like with anything new, it will take practice and consistancy.
  • Thanks for all the helpful responses. I don't do any cardio aside from the cardio that comes with the circuits. I think it may have something to do with stress as well. I was trying to convince myself it was physical but it could certainly be a stress/anxiety issue. I want to try switching to AM workouts but I'm worried…
  • New York, NY!
  • Hey, definately do not take the car. The subway bus system is the most extensive and will take you anywhere in NYC for $2.25. Some free/cheap things to do: take a trip on the Staten Island Ferry, Museum of Natural History, Central Park , Ground Zero, MoMa, Broadway, South Street Seaport, walk around the West Village and…
  • Motivation needs to come from within, but setting a goal and telling your friends and family about it will help with accountability. Even if it means putting some photos on your wall of the ideal physique to keep it in the front of your mind that this is what you want. Strengthen the mind-body connection by staying in tune…
  • I love riding. I go 10-15 miles every weekend around lower Manhattan. I'm a lifelong BMX biker, looking to get my first road bike this month. Doing the 70 mile Montauk bike ride in June!
  • Thanks, I feel much worse now, jk. I'll have some pics up soon. I'm pretty muscular, with 7-8% BF. Waist is getting to pre-high school size. I don't know, I might be hollow inside or something. It could be my hormones are working differently, or like someone else had mentioned, my liver is working more efficiently at…
  • Yes - Very clean calories. I've always been a healthy eater, to the point where people at the Trader Joe's checkout tell me to 'live a little'. Getting in 3000+ clean calories a day takes a lot of work. You have to eat when you're not hungry and for a busy person like myself, it can get annoying to have to stop and eat…
  • I should also mention that I lost those 25 lbs within 2 months. I've been at 148-150 since March and working on gaining lean mass going forward, which is so much harder to do.
  • My routine is a 5 day split. Chest, Back, Shoulders, Legs, Arms (abs every other day). I start with heavy compound excersizes (wide-grip pullups, barbell rows, bench, deads, etc. depending on what day it is) and finish each set with a drop set then I'll do some circuit training that includes both compound and non-compound…
  • Thanks. I know that adding mass usually means adding some unwanted fat, but I feel confident that will eating clean calories and keeping a strict exercise routine that includes muscle-building cardio (sprints, circuit training, cycling) I can keep my BFP under 10.
  • Wow - thanks for all the responses already. Seems like a pretty cool community you have going on here. Just was wondering about the recommended daily calorie intake - does it take into consideration a heavy workout at the gym, metabolic rate, etc? Other sites have told me I need about 3000 to gain 1 lb. of lean mass per…
