I am maintaining on 40 net carbs and lost on 20. I still avoid starchy foods but have a little more wine and nuts and I eat things like Quest bars. I think if I truly began eating oats and rice and pasta, I would regain.

Week 2 of my new job and loving the container I got! I make a protein serving for lunch while making my dinner the night before and the rest (spring mix, veggies, cheese) fits perfectly. Thanks again for the rec!

I am doing keto and cannot imagine how limited my menu would be with no dairy or meat or fish. But good luck--I know it CAN be done...

For me personally, I'd probably do half at 1 lb per week and the other half at 1/2 lb per week, just based on my own experiences. When I've needed to lose more than 5-7 lbs, the first chunk usually flies right off, then it dwindles down lower and lower until I hit my goal.

I have gotten tougher with age. I used to seem to attract all kinds of unwelcome feedback...whether it was "wow, you're ordering dessert?" or "Live a little, just have one donut." Or even about other things--my parenting decisions, what brand of laundry detergent I bought, how lazy could I be to buy pre-chopped vegetables.…

The discomfort I have over the feeling of a bloated stomach (and I mean emotional discomfort) usually wins out against the comfort of fullness. I wonder if I have a problem on the other end of the spectrum...I hate that day-after-Thanksgiving morning when you wake up and your stomach is sticking out like you've already…

Has anyone noticed any trends with "going off plan" and self esteem? Like if you're happy with where you are in, say, your job, do you stick to your intentions regarding food and exercise more than you do if you feel like you're not doing well at work? I remember sort of sabotaging my diet when I was asked to be a…

I have been doing keto for about 9 months and honestly cannot imagine it as a vegan. I'd be living on nuts, coconut oil and veggies only. The level of restriction would be unreal.

Agree. I usually end up dumping the mason jar ingredients on a paper plate, which is not well-suited for salad consumption!

I bought this one--excited to try it. I know you can just put everything in Tupperware or layer it in a mason jar, but the OCD in me likes the compartments and expandability of this one! Will be eagerly checking my mail for it this week!

I'm going to admit that I'm fascinated by this concept because I don't understand it, and always worry (fear) that there's a slippery slope for me/for us all when it comes to eating for pleasure. Honestly, I have watched TV shows like My 600 Lb. Life to try to understand eating not only beyond satiety but beyond even…

Thanks, that's exactly what I need!!!!

Oh this is fun. So I will say that until I was around 30-35, I thought a "diet" was something you did when you put on a few pounds, and didn't realize that if I went back to the way I ate pre-diet, I'd get back to that weight, too. Oops. My early and late 20s included Slimfast, The Cabbage Soup Diet, a diet that was just…

You have so much stress and so little sleep....that is a lot to shoulder! Did you used to eat for comfort (“stress eat”) and now you don’t have a physical relief from the stress in your life?

Personally, I have things made with stevia instead. The lack of sugar reduces the overall calories and usually helps me get in that sweet treat. But sugar is my weakness--I literally cannot be left alone with candy corns!!!

I have been on keto for close to 9 months. It's true that there is an initial fast weight loss, but eventually, it's no different from any other diet--you lose at a rate that directly correlates to your calorie intake/burn and size. I was close to goal weight (total goal was 10 lbs) and lost the first 5 almost immediately…

I always try to look up the info before I go, so I know when a salad is surprisingly 1000 calories or something that I'd expect to be really caloric is surprisingly lower calorie. You can eat half portions whenever possible. Or get things on the side. Like, I might get a salad and have the more caloric things put on the…

I travel a lot and eat turkey jerky, cheese sticks, eggs, nuts and shelf-stable treats like Atkins chocolates when I crave something sweet. Seaweed and olives are also pretty easy to keep in a hotel and good for a low carb lifestyle.

I use the chest strap. I find it's very similar in terms of read out (of both HR and calories) to my Garmin, which I also wear. Usually the total read out is within 10-15 calories (ie OTF will say I burned 485 and my Garmin will say 470). OTF is a GREAT workout. The "after burn" thing is probably just marketing hype, but…

My typical session at the gym is 45 minutes of running on the treadmill and 15 minutes of weights. Most of the calories burned are from the running. I usually burn about 500 total.

I think it's a positive change. I've tried to eat more naturally over the years and cut out Diet Coke completely and swapped Splenda for Stevia...however, I still eat plenty of artificial sweeteners and other fake stuff. I just need a little sweetness but don't usually feel like spending the calories on sugar or honey...

I just use it for pancakes. It's fine for that!

Smart Cakes are 38 calories each and taste like little coffee cakes. (The cinnamon ones.)

When my work schedule is insane, I do longer workouts on the weekend and find time for one half hour workout during the week. So for me, that might be: Saturday, 90 minute Orange Theory class, Sunday, 8 mile run (or a hike, or a spin class plus a half hour of weights), Wednesday, go to the gym on my lunch break or after…

Agree about not fasting, but also think it's important NOT TO LET YOUR MOM INFLUENCE YOUR FOOD INTAKE. Sorry for the all caps, but I can just see this becoming a very destructive pattern.

The strategy I have been following recently is the keto diet, which I like because the foods, for me, are satiating and have helped me not stress eat. I have tried other approaches like Weight Watchers but found that eating “whatever I want to, but less,” is a slippery slope, and not as easy to stick to long term. It’s…

I use it a lot and like it.

I do not eat back very many of the exercise calories. The nice thing about keto is I am not terribly hungry, so I can work out a LOT and not feel like I need to eat! But if you can eat them and still lose, go for it!

https://fitmencook.com/low-carb-pancakes-gluten-free-dairy-free/ Very fluffy! I also make one that is: 1 TBS almond flour 1 TBS coconut 1 TBS cream cheese 2 eggs stevia, vanilla, cinnamon You just combine it all and cook it like a pancake. It's really good and filling. It doesn't taste like an IHOP pancake but it's a yummy…

So, I just got back from a weeklong vacation where I, too, PLANNED to eat some carbs if anything special appealed to me. Aside from wine, I did not really eat anything that wasn't keto-friendly (and I often have dry wine, 1 glass every now and then.) I just didn't crave anything special. I ended up losing a few pounds…
