  • how tall are you?
  • You have to start somewhere. So it's intimidating, standing outside the door isn't going to change that. Jump in.
  • Ditto
  • Calendar age 46.3 Real age 41 :drinker:
  • "Muscle weighs heavier than fat" or "a pound of muscle is heavier than a pound of fat" Arggggg, no it doesn't. Then, when you point this out you get "I know it doesn't "weigh" heavier, it just takes up less space". THEN SAY THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!
  • wow! You look great girl! AND it takes years off you! Congratulations and good luck with your continued journey :flowerforyou:
  • Oh, and probably the most IMPORTANT thing. Until you're ready, you're not. It's totally up to you. Just like weight loss and eating healthy. :flowerforyou:
  • I am a non-smoker for, hmmm, over 12 years now. Here's what worked for me. Seeing pictures of black lungs and other horror stories did nothing for me. Nor did the cost. I gave up because I knew I stank! I picked a date in the future (maybe a week or so away) and built up anticipation to being a non-smoker. Be excited about…
  • Hi kc, I see you live in CA, and mentioned the San Francisco bay. How cold does it get there? You can buy technical clothes and walk in all kinds of weather. TJ Maxx or Marshals or any of those types of places have some great deals in athletic gear. And if it rains a lot, well you can buy clothes for that too. I'd try and…
  • Hi Jasonia, I love P90X, BUT a huge part of it is nutrition. If you want to lose weight, eat less. Exercise for fitness. I noticed on one of your other posts you said you don't track your food (if I read it correctly). You need to track if you're ever to keep your self at a caloric deficit. If you don't know how many…

  • Ouch, gotta disagree with you on the "say no to eating out". That's just not realistic for me. There's pretty much always something that you can have. Ask for it to be grilled without added fat. Watch portions. Maybe split it with someone. Take home half. Don't eat half and just let them take it away. The important thing…
  • Not for me, so it ain't funny  Thanks for putting me out of my misery though :flowerforyou: I'm here in work saying "Irish wristwatch" out loud to myself and looking like a complete eejit! AND I'M FROM IRELAND!!!
  • I don't get it
  • Skeleton walks into a bar. Says "Give me a beer and a mop." Thank you, I'll be here all week.
  • Thoughts? Yeah, it's krap. Does it work. SURE! Is it healthy? Do I really need to answer that?
  • Trust me, this is SO not about the ice cream. There are other issues at play here and you and he talking, really honestly, are the only ones who can figure them out.
  • Eva, for my sanity's sake, relax here for a minute. Breathe and look at the numbers and the logic. Failing that, you can guesstimate, and I MEAN guesstimate, that you burn about 100 calories per mile covered. Whether you walk it or run it, it's "about" 100 calories a mile. SO, give yourself a 200 calorie burn for the two…
  • Hi Stephanie! Have you tried getting out early in the morning or later in the day? I was on vacation two weeks ago in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea FL, and either ran or did a dvd workout pretty much every morning. It was beautiful to run by the sea. Just a thought. All the best with your fitness and health journey.
  • Good for you girl!!! Wishing you continued success! :flowerforyou:
  • I do P90X (6 days working out with 1 day rest) and I also run, usually 3 miles every second day and just last weekend I upped it to 4.5 miles and will continue to run longer on the weekend. (Weekday I run at lunch time and 3 miles is as much a I can fit in along with a shower etc.)
  • Congrats! Do you currently run? If so, how much? If not, google couch to 5k and it'll give you a training schedule.
  • The gym gave you the clap!!!! :noway: Just kiddin' Congrats :flowerforyou:
  • Now THERE'S a woman who knows of what she speaks!!! I must say my diet soda has been curtailled 'cos I've cut back on the booze. Now I prefer to do a vodka with light cranberry juice.
  • What's your exercise regime at the moment? Something? Nothing? Walking? Let us know. :flowerforyou:
  • Hi Jeanne  Here's a pretty simple way to look at things which will hopefully help. Eat less to lose weight, exercise for fitness. Simple huh? BUT I think we get too caught up in "working out" to lose weight. While of COURSE exercise has huge benefits, the way to lose weight is to take in less calories than we use.…
  • gotta tell ya, I SO enjoy your posts! Thanks
  • ~~ cough ~~ I lick mine before I start
  • Hmmm, there's not really a whole lot you can do in the next 2 weeks that's going to stand to you for the half. For example, don't try to jump from running a 7 mile long distance to running a 10 mile. Think about it, that's almost 50% extra! The best thing you can do for yourself is commit to partake but understand that…
  • Well, that's not exactly true. The one DVD that everyone says you'll burn UP TO 600 calories is Plyometrics. Everyone burns different amounts. Personally, the most I've ever burnt on Plyo is 390. On the strength training ones, I'll burn maybe 250 (ish, give or take). You'll need to use a heart rate monitor to get an idea…
  • I admire your patience on going over this again and again and again.......... :flowerforyou:
