  • Thanks for the advice everyone! I seriously increased my food intake, and despite feeling really gross and gaining some weight i have to say my first race wasn't so bad! I did get sick, and still am, which may have also played a role in my tough runs during the past week. I got my official time and I met my goal of being…
  • that is soooooo not funny
  • I've never eaten during a run.... anytime I've eaten immediately before a run its made me feel nauseous. I usually have a snack a few hours before my run, but I'm going to try and eat more during the day. My eating enough and running was never an issue before, but maybe increasing my mileage is wearing me down and…
  • Hang in there! Thanks for replying and best of luck with your half on May 12!!!!
  • I really haven't been trying to run fast or race myself, my comfortable conversational pace is around 10:00 per mile or so, and on my good runs I've noticed that without trying I've gotten faster to hit below 10:00 per mile. I have a 10k race this Saturday which is really the first time I was planing on pushing to go my…
  • I'm definitely eating! I usually eat anywhere between 1,000-1,500 calories per day, I log everything as a guide but don't really stress if I go over or under etc. I'm working out 6 days a week with 1 rest day, (one day the training program has us double up with running and strength training, if you noticed the numbers add…
  • Up until last week I was running at a 9:50 pace per mile, which for me is pretty respectable. Last night I was up to like 11:00 mins per mile which is slower than I was when I started training! I don't know how it could be so different so quickly! The last 7 weeks I was running 5 to 7 miles at a time at a 9:50 / 10:00 per…
  • I am in the exact same spot! I can't seem to break 170! It's driving me nuts, and it has definitely been long enough to be a plateau, we're talking 2 months now and I just keep losing and gaining the same pounds back staying between 170-175. Grrrrr! I'm currently training for a half-marathon and sticking to a 6 day a week…

  • When I started running it was something new to my body and so I lost weight like crazy. Now, since I run regularly my weight has definitely plateaued, so I understand what a lot of people are saying on here. But... while my weight stopped going down, I still continue to get smaller and tighter with running more so than any…
  • Thanks! Registration opened at 12:00 p.m. and I think I was registered by 12:01 hahaha I couldn't get into the NYC half because it filled up so fast so this time around i was expecting and ready for the race to sell out. Good luck with your race!
  • I just signed up for my first half marathon! I'm doing the brooklyn half marathon May 18th using the hal higdon training program! Best of luck to everyone!
  • Try a new exercise that challenges your body, our bodies tend to get used to the typical exercise routines we develop so the same exercise that used to be really effective loses its efficacy overtime. Blah blah to what everyone said about not losing too much weight too fast, which is not what you asked for. Try something…
  • umm... can't you lose weight in your wrists!!?! i always thought i had a "large frame" but i now think that's just a cop out. sure there may be people who have bigger bones than others, but the difference in size and weight is negligible. the take away = no such thing as a larger frame, only fatter wrists
  • 5'5 177 - size 10 (almost too big on me but not quite an 8 yet!) at 190 was size 12
  • I take measurements which I keep track of and post, and I took a before picture but it's not up yet. Once I get my after picture together I'll post both!
  • Oh these mythical creatures exist. They eat whatever they want and have insanely fast metabolisms. When I tried to eat 1/3 of what my ex ate, i still ended up gaining weight. My opinion.. they should all burn. Bitter? Slightly.
  • I'm also from nyc - so i might be the only one on here who prefers running indoors! I'm training now and did most of my training on the treadmill to avoid sketchy people at night and traffic lights for when i want to track my time. I recently started to run outside by the east river to get a feel for the pavement in…
  • absolutely, if you can't be honest with yourself who can you be honest with? I log every day but that's because i know the scale isn't always going to go down - as long as the general trend is down i'm happy
  • I was netting 600 (eating about 1200 and burning 600 NOT just eating 600) and am slowly trying to increase my calorie net. I'm at 900 net now and this suckksss haha i know it's better and to avoid vlcd but this plateau blows. I'm hoping my body will adjust and i can slowly continue to up my calories to a healthier level
  • Yes! It seriously helps. Every time I get cautious about my sodium intake, I shoot for 2300, I drink extra water because it helps you lose weight by forcing you to get rid of any excess water. Also when you're having a serious workout and sweating a lot water replenishes you so you don't get dehydrated. Some people drink…

  • You look great! Congrats!
  • I weigh myself every morning and this is the weight I log, on occasion I'll weigh myself at the end of the day just to see how my body responds but I don't log that weight whether its less or more
  • "it's a shame.... you would be so pretty if you weren't so fat..."
  • You need to find something that he likes to do that makes exercise fun for him. Maybe he's not into lifting but running or the elliptical or a sport is his thing? There are so many different types of exercise out there, it might just be a matter of him finding his own niche.
  • I feel like the term cheat day suggests that there's an end game, like i'll diet until my goal weight and then i can finally relax and eat what i want and maintain (which if we're being honest i used to think). i know realize that there is no end game to this, at least not for me. The thought of never eating anything bad…
  • It also depends on where you're starting from, no offense to other posters but if you're starting as a size 8, then losing 20 pounds might get you 2 pants sizes. If however you're starting at 12 or a 14, it might take a little more. it really depends on your body composition and size. if you can't make it to the stores…
  • I'm not in my 40's, but metabolism slowing with age was something I was concerned about. I did some research and I found out that there are a number of ways you can increase your metabolism, in some cases to all but counter-effect the impact age may have. The best way I read to increase metabolism is to exercise. It also…
  • best idea ever! i wish the judges in ny were that cool. i would wear a regular suit regular everything and then get some really gory makeup and make a huge gash on your forehead or face haha professional yet festive! good luck!
  • I have been on this site for over a year and thought it was just a diary, I had everything set to private, and really only used it on my i-phone, and definitely never posted about anything. I only recently realized people actually friend one another, post pictures, and post about their lives or transformations. I've never…
