  • Hello! I'm a "flexitarian." I'm trying to eat a mostly plant based diet, but I'm still figuring this whole thing out :) Some meals I eat vegan, some vegetarian, and some I eat meat. Previously when I have lost weight, I have stuck with high protein from animal sources. Anyway, I would love some support as I figure out the…
  • I buy the stuff that is already vanilla flavored and then I put in frozen fruit and let it melt. By the time the ice around the fruit has melted, the consistency is more like regular yogurt, but you still get the protein :)
  • I agree that having a tan can make you look thinner. I know you said that you're aware that tanning can cause skin cancer, but because I work in a melanoma lab and my project investigates the effects of indoor tanning, I feel obligated to put my 2 cents in. It's been shown that people under 35 who tan have a 75% greater…
  • Hmm. I'll give it a shot!
  • Cynthia--I hope you start feeling better soon! I know being sick can totally mess up my workout schedule and get me completely off track, so I'm impressed with your ability to still make yourself run and do bootcamp when you're not feeling up to par! Abby--Going to a legit running store was the best thing I ever did, and…
  • Wow! There are so many wonderful ladies with great goals :) I have a personal drama rant...work/school is getting so stressful and as the semester is getting started I'm realizing I have A LOT on my plate this spring. I'm going to have to be really careful to make sure that working out doesn't get pushed out my schedule.…
  • ~Allie7383- PR in my Disney Half Marathon, be under 145, log 5 days a week and drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. ~Skreal89 - break the 210 mark for the first time in 3 years; run 4 miles without a walking break; burn 6000 calories a week working out; eat all of my daily calories instead of eating low and being…
  • Hi all! Sorry for being gone! I just posted a blog called "Confessions" where I apologized for being a bad MFP friend at times because when I'm not doing what I'm supposed to be doing, I tend to avoid the site to avoid feeling ashamed :( I forgot to weigh myself this morning, so I'll do it tomorrow morning to check my goal…
  • Thanks for all the welcoming! I've been trying to catch up with all the posts on here, but there's a lot of information! Don't worry, I'm not disappearing, but my posts might not be that elaborate until I feel like I'm getting to know you all :) This week was pretty good for me! I lost a pound, ran a couple of times, and…
  • Mmm. Sounds good and easy!
  • Very well said! Love this :)
  • Hi all, I'm new to this challenge, but not new to MFP. I'd welcome any friend requests, please just put a note in with it so I know you are from this group :) I'm currently starting a plan where I will work out 6 days per week. I'm going to try to do that the rest of January and throughout February to get "re-dedicated"…
  • I think you'll find that most people on here try to ignore natural sugars such as fruit, but pay attention to their processed sugars. MFP doesn't separate that out for you, but if you're over on sugar because you ate a few pieces of fruit, then I think it's probably ok. Personally, I try to stay under on my sodium,…
  • That's what I did too...log minutes walking and minutes running. If you go on a treadmill and enter your weight, you could also add the amount of calories it says you burn instead. If you want to be totally specific, then you'll have to get a heart rate monitor. While the heart rate monitor would be nice, I don't think it…
  • I've seen it on different sites varying a lot. I think it depends how much effort you put into it ;) lol. I have logged it under the generic aerobic activity on MFP before.
  • You're not the only one! I was listening to a Jillian Michael's podcast. A lady called in and she was asking how to get motivated. Jillian told her that motivation comes from within. She asked the lady "What does being fat afford you?" Everyone has their reasons for sort of liking being fat, and they're almost always…
  • If there is a Whole Foods (or something like it maybe?) around you, then you can go there and grind your own peanut butter. It's fairly reasonable as far as price goes and I think it tastes great. When I'm missing the sugar, I add honey on my toast or whatever I'm having peanut butter with. It won't separate like the other…
  • I agree. Go to a running store and have them fit you. They'll look at the tread on your old shoes and determine if it wears in a certain direction. When I started running, I went and the fitting was free. The shoes were about $100 which I think is pretty good considering how great I feel in them when I run and I know…
  • Great goal curlyjane! Mine is to exercise 5 days and eat under my calories. Last week was horrendous. An unofficial weigh-in this morning said I gained back like 4lbs...I'd be happy if I was back to my last weigh-in at the end of the week!
  • Great job this week ladies! From what I've read, nearly everyone had a loss, which is very exciting. I had a loss of 4.4lbs (I didn't weigh myself last week) and I was shocked. I also measure myself and I've lost 15inches overall and 8.5inches since 8/7. I looooove exciting results :) It always serves as good motivation!…
  • Hi ladies! Tonilizzy has asked me to take over because she's going to be super busy! I'm excited and kind of nervous because I've never done this before, so feel free to send me a message or post suggestions or things you don't like. I'm going to switch up the challenges a bit and then you gals can personalize them a…
  • I also started working the couch to 5K program. I found that at week 5 when I switched from using the times listed to using the distances listed, it was too much of a challenge for me, so I'm kind of doing my own thing now. I think the biggest thing to remember is be patient with yourself. You're not going to be a runner…
  • Oooo btw. Would anyone be willing to create a new group of Christmas Babes once Halloween passes? I like this. It keeps me accountable and I wanna keep going. Think about it and let me know! Tonilizzy--I know being in charge is probably a pain at times, so if you feel like you don't want to do it again, I would be willing…
  • Clare--you post everyday!!! I'm so proud of you. My goal for next week: have my posts look like Clare's lol. I'm STILL struggling, although I do feel like this week was an improvement. I didn't even weight myself last Sunday because I didn't want to see the damage, so I'm kind of anxious for tomorrow. I didn't do great in…
  • I'm with you. I love veggies (red peppers are my fav) with any kind of hummus. I usually have red peppers, green peppers, carrots, and cucumbers :) I'll try the blueberries though! Good idea!
  • I think it definitely counts :) Take the compliments and use them as fuel! Great work!
