Diary/Sanity Check?
I'm always a little concerned that I'm going too low on calories. I'm getting 1900-2100 a day. My fitbit has me averaging close to 3200 TDEE. If true, that's kind of a big gap. But my average loss is on track. Should I just stick with what the scale is saying? I'd be willing to listen to someone talking about macros, too.

It "Doesn't Work"
At least, according to these kind of suspicious infographics: http://vitals.lifehacker.com/these-infographics-show-the-problems-with-calorie-count-1771540530 I suspect they're selling something, because a lot of people here would disagree.

Weighing Tip
This is new to me, although I suspect it's quite old. When I'm scooping something like egg salad, I don't usually have a good idea of how much I'll need. It's easier to put the container on the scale, tare it out, and then just enter however many negative grams you've used. I think this also helps getting a feel for how…

Protein: Real Talk
Come on. Why doesn't MFP set the goal at .6 g / lb or .8 g / lb or whatever if that's what works? What's the real number that people have seen success with?
-
Wasting Food
Anyone struggle with the notion that not finishing your plate, or passing on free food (lunch leftovers at the office, dinner leftovers at home) is wasting it? It's a hard one for me to wrap my mind around - either throwing food out or having to throw it out through inaction.

Rep Scheme
There's a lot of love for low reps or "training for strength" -- so much so that it kind of gave me an attitude about doing more than 5 reps. Now I kind of regret adopting that attitude because I'm enjoying 3x8 a lot more than I thought I would. I get that I'm missing out on the "move as much weight as possible" thing…

Burned Out - New Routine?
I'm pretty burned out. I was going to the gym 2x a week pretty regularly. Occasionally some stuff at home. I don't feel like it did anything other than kind of keep the weight off. I haven't seen any results to be excited about in almost a year. It was mostly 3-5 sets of 5, compound exercises, all that. Everything I was…
-
Protein sources
I have a hard time hitting my protein macro without one (or usually two) scoops of whey. I know a lot of people seem to think that if you just eat "whole foods" and whatever else, you should have no problem getting the .8g/lb or .6g/lb or whatever. I just haven't found that's the case. If I get a 6 or 7 ounce serving of…

Time Off
I had a great head of steam going from like, last December through about July. Then everything ground to a halt. I concluded my strength training wasn't working and starting drifting through different rep schemes. I stopped tracking, I stopped walking at lunch. Things were OK but definitely not moving in the direction I…

No Consistency - Tips?
My gym has, over the last year and a half, started to fill up steadily. When I go now, it's a bit of a dice roll whether there's going to be a bench or a power rack available. Some days I can go in and do my routine. Other days I go in and it's just kind of... whatever compound and isolation exercises that broadly make…

Help?
I tried losing weight; I'd always bottom out at the same number. In April I tried a bulk. It lasted for about ten weeks and I got much stronger - but also definitely started putting on fat. So I switched to a cut. Now I'm a few weeks into my cut and I feel like... nothing chaged. I've lost maybe 80% of my gains and I…

Diary Check?
So, for a while I was attempting to bulk at about 3400 calories a day. For the last week or two of that, my weight pretty much flatlined. Then I figured it was time to cut, which I've been trying for the last two or three weeks. Dropped my goal, eating back some portion of exercise calories; weight has pretty much…

Bulking and Blood Panel
This is an "n=1" study, as they say. There's a lot of discussion about "clean" bulks and dirty bulks and how one will wreck your body. I'm coming off of a bulk, the pop-tarts and ice cream kind. Blood numbers came in today; everything is awesome! So, definitely do your own research with this stuff and run your own numbers.…

Sodium & Water Retention
I find if I eat out a lot on the weekend and take in more sodium than normal, it may take me a week or more for things to normalize and the water to work itself out. If that week includes another weekend with more carb and sodium heavy food, then it's like the water weight never leaves. Anyone else see this cycle? How long…

Help Cutting
I haven't worked out in a deficit in a couple months. I'm coming off of a bulk and suddenly struggling without all of that extra carb energy. Tips? Advice? Is the answer just, "Yes, strength training is much more difficult in a deficit?"

Time to Stop?
I told myself I'd stop the bulk when the calipers hit 15% - which they did today... but it's very suspicious. It would mean that while the scale stayed within one pound (actually a pound lower today) than last week), I dropped 5 lbs. of LBM. Which is impossible. Measurement error today? Or is this the first time I've got…

225 Bench!
A long time goal of mine, and I owe it to people on MFP telling me to eat more and train. Thanks!

I think it's time to cut
I was bulking with MFP set to 2790 calories, plus eating back exercise. So most days I was consuming an average of 3400 calories. I think a 10% to 15% decrease is what people recommend. So does that mean I need to take 85% of 3400 and set that as my new goal? Should I just aim for a pound a week initally and see where that…

After the bulk?
If .5 lbs./week is a good rate for gaining, what's a good rate of fat loss post bulk? 1 lb./week? Or does anyone ever just bulk to a plateau and ride that plateau out for a while?

One Week Down: Observations
Okay, observations after one week of bulking: * It's a lot of food * I feel like a *kitten* eating cookies after I've hit my protein macros for the day and have 300 calories left. * I'm having really intense DOMS from the volume I was able to put in at the gym. This hasn't happened in a while. * Scale is up four pounds,…

Drastically underestimated BF%?
After seeing the BuiltLean pictures in another thread I'm thinking that my 3-site caliper method has been really wrong. Like, I started my bulk too high and maybe now I'm way too high? But I mean my pants still fit well, waist measurement is good. It's one of those "when you know, you know" things isn't it?

Ongoing Bulk Results
I thought I'd start a new thread; the old one is here: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10135602/one-week-down-observations#latest I'm about six weeks in at this point. I'm shy of three pounds gained, which sucks but it also more or less on target with the .5 lb/week suggested rate. The last three or four…

Any love for ExRx Templates?
Lots of people recommend a lot of different programs on these boards and out there, on The Internet. I don't ever really see exrx.net come up, even though I've found them to be a very bro-science free resource. Has anyone tried any of their templates? Liked it? Hated it? It's never anything fancy. It seems like whenever…

Biggest Weight Swing?
A lot of people get discouraged when the scale shoots up two pounds overnight. A lot of other people get super optimistic when they drop 12 pounds in two weeks. I think it would be illustrative for people to share their biggest scale swings from weigh-in to weigh-in. Just before I started trying to bulk I lost two pounds…

Bulking Sanity Check
I'm cross-posting to this group for some help. Can you check out my other thread and let me know if the numbers I'm getting seem reasonable? http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10155003/bulking-sanity-check-please-with-numbers#latest

Bulking Sanity Check Please (with numbers)
Okay, so I finally got around to plotting my calculated LBM as measured by cheap calipers against my weight gain. Do these numbers seem reasonable? The dotted lines are 21 day rolling averages; the points are measurements taken from the scale and the calipers. It's a three site measurement so I don't expect it's 100%…

Nutri-Grain Bars (suck)
These things are garbage. When I was trying to lose weight, they were one of the first things I turned my back on. They don't taste very good, and on top of that they were a tricky thing to get into my macros. Now I'm trying to bulk and I eat two a morning with peanut butter on them as a pre-breakfast breakfast so i can…

Goblet Squats (back pain)
I've been subbing goblet squats for uh, heavier back squats. But I go super low in an attempt to make up some of the difference. Anyway, I feel like I'm still not giving my back enough time to recover. I do squats on S/M, and then W is bodyweight stuff; planks, rollouts, assorted pushup modifications. How do you get your…
