Starting - again !
I’ve had MyFitnessPal now for a number of years. I hadn’t been monitoring my weight for a good 18 months until one morning I stood on the scales, yes you’ve guessed it, the weight had shot way. Something had to be done! I already had MyFitnessPal and an iPhone and I hadn’t realised there was quite a decent app in the…

Re-starting !
It’s not really a start - it’s a re-start. Some years back with the help of Fitbit and MyFitnessPal I lost quite a few pounds. However it happened my Fitbit got misplaced and MyFitnessPal drifted away like a stick down a river. But I’m back ! I weighed myself one morning and discovered I’d crept steadily up to 15 st. 4 lb…

Putting the hardware together
My old scales (20 years plus) have reached their sell by date and are ready for the scrap heap ! As a replacement I thought it has to be a Smart Scale and as a treat to myself I thought I’d buy a Fitness Tracker but when I started to do my research it didn’t seem that easy. Generally speaking all the scales were pretty…

When To Fast On The 5:2 Diet
I’ve just started the 5:2 diet and I have a question So on the new 5:2 diet plan on your fast day you can eat 800 calories and fast for 14 hours. It’s the fast bit I’d like advice about I’ve earmarked Friday as one of my fast days. If my last meal on Thursday is at 7 pm that means I can have breakfast at 9 am on Friday;…

Why such a dramatic jump in one day
When I first started out with MFP I was 15st 2lb I set an initial target of 14st, from there my next goal would have been 13st 1/2 stone and eventually 13st. MFP set me a target of 1500 calories a day. Fitbit showed that my number of steps was in excess of 1,400 almost every day. I've been pretty good keeping within the…

Maths was never my strong point
Help me understand this. I have Fitbit and MyFitnessPal tied together. After putting in all the relevant information MFP set me a target of 1500 calories per day to loose 1.5 lbs per week. I have set my own goal in Fitbit to the 1500 calories. At the time of writing 22.40 Fitbit is showing me 1573 calories in, as is MFP,…

What's wrong with these MFP figures ?
First thing this morning I checked MFP, At this stage nothing had passed my lips, nothing! Anyway I looked at the MFP app and it showed calories 1500, Food 0, Exercise 62 and this is the bit that gets me REMAINING 1438 and I hadn't eaten anything! Even Fitbit was shown I'd burned 584 calories. What's going on with these…

Adding extra calories
I have a target o loosing 2lbs a week, but would settle for 1.5 lbs. I weighed myself the Monday of last week, and this Monday, and I think I'm loosing 3 to 4 lbs a week, so I'd like to increase my calorie intake to 1,750/2000 calories per day, with the intention of cutting this loss back a bit, at the moment it is set at…

What Does MFP Consider a workout
I'm redoing some of MFP settings, one of the questions it asks is how many workouts a week do you do. I don't know what that means I can appreciate time spent in the gym, swimming, football and the like. I'm a pretty fast walker, take the dog for a good longish relaxed walk. Would that kind of activity count as a workout?…

Water intake
Does water intake include drinks like: tea, coffee, diet minerals. I assume it doesn't apply to items like fruit juice, milk, milk based coffee as these all go under foods

Should I Eat More?
I'd appreciate some guidance. To loose weight I set myself a target of 1450 calories, which I'm raising to 1500 on Monday. I'm tracking the food through MyFitnessPal, my exercise in Fitbit . However, I'm finding that on many days, because of the type of food I'm eating, I'm not using up the calories I've allocated myself.…

How do I do the maths?
I'm just starting so let's see if I've got this right. I'm aiming for 1450 calories a day. Fitbit shows me that I've burned 2933 calories. My food dairy from MyFitnessPal shows that I've eaten 1277 calories. It's probably a bit higher. How do I calculate the calories lost: 1450-(1277+2933) = 2760 or is it…

Fitbit Scales
I use MFP among other things as my food dairy and to keep a check on my nuiterents. I have a Fitbit HR which, as you'll know, talks to MFP At the moment I'm doing the LCHF diet and I find it effective. I've been looking at the Fitbit Scales but at around £90 I feel they are a bit on the steep side, I'm wondering though if…

Am I reading this wrong
This morning all I wanted was a celery stick. Will be eating later today Anyway MFP and scanner shows 100g = 10 calories. Fair enough but I've just noticed the calories remaining and it reads thus: Goal. 1450 Food. 10 Exercise 48 but it gives calories remaining as 1392 Now I would have expected renaming to come out as 1450…

Truvia by weight
I like to cook and bake by weight. However, now that I'm switching over to Truvia I'm starting to track down conversions but most seem to be American A cup of granular Splenda is supposed to weigh the same as granulated sugar. One cup of sugar weighs 200g. Can anyone confirm that a cup of granular Splenda does in fact…

Nutrition Not Showing OniPhone
I'm sure I've overlooked something simple ! I've just bought a new iPhone, downloaded the app, logged in etc. Added my food for the day and while it gives the number of calories for each meal it doesn't give you the likes of: carbs, Fiber, protein all of which appear on my iPad and did appear on my Galaxy until it had an…

How to count carrying shopping
About twice a week I go shopping. I bring the goods home in a backpack and with liquids and cans the pack can get weighty quite quickly I'm wondering how should you count this type of activity. Taking the longer route it takes me about 20 to 30 minutes from the shops to my home. I go the long route

Reintroducing Food
Hi, I've been doing LCHF now for about 10 weeks and I haven't really paid that much attention to what the figures meant I just weighed and logged everything! Now, however, that I'm reaching my goal I'd like to reinterduce some of the things I've missed. On this occasion strawberries as it is local strawberry season here I…

Sync Issues - I've no hair left!!!
I’ve been using MFP for about two months now and it really has proved quite useful to me while following a LCHF diet. At the suggestion of a friend I bought a Fitbit Charge HD last week and the passing of information from MFP to Fitbit and back has been complicated, to say the least. My two major problems seem to be that…

I'm having a problem with 'Calorie Adjustments'
I've been trying to get MFP and Fitbit to talk to each other. Fitbit seems to lift information FROM MFP but I'm confused about the information coming from Fitbit TO MyFitnessPal. Perhaps what is causing the confusion is Calorie Adjustments, whenever I select it and click save I am taking to a new page which says This has…

How does Fitbit transfer calories burned to MFP
I received my new Fitbit Charge HD yesterday, set it up, linked to MFP and had it with me all day today. The MFP seems to have transferred all the information I entered into it: breakfast, snack, diner etc., over to the Fitbit but I don't see where the Fitbit has exchanged its information with MFP. According to Fitbit I…

Intergrating MyFitnessPal With Fitbit charge HD
