Reasons for increased appetite?
Can you all give some reasons for greatly increased appetite from one day to the next? I'm not close to TOM but I am 2-3 days from ovulation. I've never noticed that increase my appetite though, only water weight for a few days. I did a long run Saturday, but that's been a few days and I ate back those calories. I'm…

Hurt my back lifting--other core strength exercises?
I'm a WAHM, on MFP and losing weight since July of last year. I had been doing some light lifting at home with dumbbells, because I don't have time or really want to join a gym. A few weeks ago I did some deadlifts (which I had been doing for a few months), but for whatever reason changed my form and hurt my lower back. I…

How do I correct a food data entry?
I found an entry for the bread I bought at Food Lion today. I've also scanned it in and get the same numbers. Both entries show 120% vitamin C for one serving, when it should be 12%. I've been trying to hit my nutrient levels lately, and it bothers me that this will be incorrect. Is there a way to change the entry? Thanks!

How to handle looooong days?
I usually wake up around 7:10am, or if it's the weekend, 8 or 9am. But lately I've needed to go in to work early once a week, so on that one day I'm getting up at 4:30 am. I usually don't eat until noon or 1pm, so on that early day it's much more difficult to stick to my calorie goal. Does anyone give themselves more…

Today it's all about butter...
Yes, I do believe PMS is at play here. But really, I just want butter on things! I just had three tortillas dipped in melted butter, and a T of pb dipped in butter with honey. And then I licked the bowl... Oh well, with a light dinner I can still be at goal calories for today, but I need to stay away from the butter!!…

Will a salad with dressing last long in the fridge?
I made my big dinner salad earlier, dressing and all, and put it in the fridge, covered. I was waiting to eat it once my boiled egg was ready, but now I'm not hungry (had a couple of snacks, coffee, chocolate, etc.). Will the salad keep okay until lunch tomorrow? It's lettuce, tomato, black olives, cucumber, avocado,…

MFP NEAT or TDEE--who has done both?
Hi--I'm pretty clear on all the numbers and how to use these two methods, but I'm trying to decide which method to go with for now. I'm sure to some extent it's personal preference, but for those of you that have done both, can you tell me which you prefer, and any pros and cons you found for either method? In the past,…

Do nutrition information labels not have to include the entire contents in the package?
For instance, I have a little jar of sun-dried tomatoes from Trader Joe's. They're packed in olive oil. I use the entire jar for my sun-dried tomato pesto, but in the nutrition information it says a serving size is a certain amount of tomatoes "drained". Does this mean they're not including the olive oil that's in the jar…

How to get more potassium?
Hi--I've been on MFP for about 6 months, and I've just recently begun pre-logging my food the day before. Among other things, I like that this allows me to play around with my macros and other nutrients. If I work at I can hit everything pretty well, but I always come up short on potassium. I almost never even get to 50%.…

Weight trend apps
I've been using Happy Scale for some time now, and have been pretty happy with it (ha!). But I'd like to be able to have a graph comparing my current weight with my weight 26 days ago (I have a short cycle). Happy Scale only gives me the option of comparing to 7 days, 30 days, or 90 days, as far as I can tell. Can someone…

For those who bank calories, technical question
This week I decided to try banking calories, so I'm setting my calorie goal to 1200 Mon-Wed, 1500 on Thurs, and 1800 on Fri-Sun. But sometimes, like today, when I change my goal to 1800, it changes the goal from the day before as well. So while my goal yesterday WAS set at 1500 all day yesterday, now it's set to 1800, like…

Finally got past my post-holidays funk and losing again! Here's what did it...
I recently wrote a post lamenting about how I couldn't get back on track after the holidays. This week I tried two new things that really helped, and I'm back at it! I've seen several other posts from people either still struggling after the holidays, or just fighting the cycle of restricting and binging. So I thought I…

Not consistently sticking with calorie goal
Hi--I've been on MFP since July 2016, and lost about 18 lbs until Thanksgiving. I'm a 43 yo female, started at 153, now at 139 after gaining back a few lbs over the holidays, and I'm working on getting back on track. I did well for a few days the first week of January, but since them I'm really having a hard time staying…

Have you taken your body weight scale or food scale with you when traveling?
Hi--I'm just curious how many people here have done this (or would)? I have been losing weight for 3 months, and I've skipped weighing in for two days at a time here and there. But soon I'll be going out of town (visiting family, not a true vacation) for about 10 or 12 days, and I feel like I'd like to at least have my…

Stress eating and the holidays
I've read a lot of statements like "It's only one day," and "It's a holiDAY, not a holiday month!" And, this being my first holiday season after/during weight loss, I've wondered how I'll fare during the month of December. As I've gone through Thanksgiving and we're now entering December, I can already see myself going…

Did you get rid of your bigger clothes?
Hi--I first posted this in the general weight loss section, but wanted to include it here, too. I'm 43, female, and I've yo-yoed a few times over the years, going between 120 and 158 lbs. With my current weight loss (at 137 currently, down from 153), I'm feelintg fairly optimistic that I can reach my goal weight of 125…

Hi--I'm 43, female, and I've yo-yoed a few times over the years, going between 120 and 158 lbs. With my current weight loss (at 137 currently, down from 153), I'm feeling fairly optimistic that I can reach my goal weight of 125 (range +/- a few lbs) and more importantly, maintain it using MFP combined with 16/8 IF. This…

Halloween candy!
I'm already thinking ahead...in years past I've bought some of my own favorites to give out to trick-or-treaters. But guess what happens to the leftovers (or heck, who's reaching into the bowl while it's by the door)?? So this year I'm determined to hand out pretzels (which I don't like) or some kind of candy I don't like.…

Are your maintenance calories about what you predicted?
Hi--I'm not at maintenance yet--I have about 20 lbs to go. I was just wondering how your final maintenance calories at your goal weight compared with what you (or calculators) might have predicted. I've read that a lot of people slowly increase their calories, say upping them by 100 per day each week. Did your final…

Ladies--how do you handle PMS appetite??
Hi--I'm sure there are many threads out there about PMS/weight issues, but I wanted to ask how you gals actually handle the bigger appetite that comes with PMS (if you have that issue--maybe not all do)? I've been logging for almost three months now, and paying attention to how my cycle affects my weight and appetite, and…

Ugh, possible stress fracture, can't run or walk
Hi--I haven't been to the doctor yet (will try for appt tomorrow), but it seems I could have a stress fracture in my foot, or at least one in the making. I've lost 11lbs over the last 10 weeks through reduced calories (currently at (1500-1700 per day) and increased exercise (mostly running and walking), so I'm trying not…

I broke through a stall by reducing my workout level
Hi--I just wanted to share my experience this past week with a forced time off from my workouts. I was recently in a weight loss stall for about 2 weeks. I had been exercising (running, walking, some free weights at home) more and more, such that I got an overuse injury in my foot. Now I was forced to stop my running and…

How to best utilize food scale?
Hi--I resisted for a while, but I finally bought a food scale, and it arrived today! Of course I had to try it out immediately, and it's great--very easy to just take out of the box and get to weighing things! But I'm wondering how to best utilize this thing. For instance, I got it mostly for those things that say a…

Need a pep talk, and non-weight-bearing exercise ideas
Hi--I'm a 5'6" female, currently at 142 lbs, and aiming to lose another 15-20 lbs. I've been going along fine, have lost about 12 lbs in the past 10 weeks by eating around 1800 calories plus increasing exercise, mostly running and walking. I had been in a bit of a stall recently, did a refeed over the weekend and lost some…

Two refeeds, two wooshes!
Hi--I just wanted to share my recent fun experience with refeeds, one unintentional and one planned. First for background--I'm female, 5'6", aiming to lose 30 lbs total. I began about 10 weeks ago by reducing calories (I love using MFP!), and also increasing exercise in the form of running, walking, and some strength…
