Amazed by people's assumptions of how you lose weight
It always gets me when people ask how you lost weight and then seem to expect a "quick and easy" miracle for the answer. They lose interest real fast when you explain the months of dedication and the slow process of losing. Was it the latest fad diet? LOL :)

Music to walk to
I have a cheap little devise that plays music on headphones. I would like to get any music for it that would have a beat that I could walk to, as I've figured out the music helps me keep my pace up and also makes the time go faster. I am currently walking about a mile in 16 minutes, so how many beats per minute should I…

Is there value in only lifting weights for certain body areas without doing others?
I don't have someone to spot for me so I don't try squats or dead lifts. As a woman in her 60's, my balance isn't the best and I worry that I may injure myself. I use machines that work upper body and I also use dumbells on a bench. Please share your thoughts.

Trader Joe's - never been there, but friend is going & asked if I want anything
She's offering to bring stuff back for me, but it needs to be stuff that doesn't need refrigeration. I'm thinking seasonings. Please suggestion your favorites for me :) Also, does Trader Joe's have a fruit powder? A spinach powder? Any other shelf stable items that you feel are a "must have"? Thanks so much for your help.…

Adjusting calories for less exercise
I am at maintenance and trying to figure out how to adjust my calories for times when I exercise less. I get less exercise during the cold Winter months. Also thinking about cutting back on some of my aerobic exercise time right now. FWIW, I do not have a fitness tracker watch. How do you figure this out?

No longer taking advice in the weight room . . .
Our local small town weight room is manned by volunteers. The other day, the volunteer who was working in the room came over to tell me I was not using one of the machines correctly. She changed a few things and had me try again. Right away I could feel stress in my knees (it was a leg machine). I did a few reps, as I…

Where to go from here
I have lost 30 lbs and am 1 lb from goal. Stats: 5'6" 136 lbs. 64 years old. Height & weight puts me right in the middle of the weight charts. I still see some fat on my stomach, hips and thighs areas. Should I lose more or how should I proceed?

"If every day were like today, you'd weigh ___ in 5 weeks"
This shows up when the food diary is closed for the day. I have backed up and looked to see if the number ever comes close for me and it never has, as far as I can see. Does it pan out for you?

What is the reasoning behind not lifting every day? Don't your muscles still develop?

Small black "flecks" in Starkist canned tuna

Do you force yourself to eat healthy stuff you don't like just to hit your macros?
Or do you just eat stuff you like, as long as it's within your calorie requirement? I've been making myself eat some stuff I don't like, but now am re-thinking this. It seems like a waste of precious calories.

Coconut Oil
I keep seeing people suggesting adding this to everything, even coffee, and I do not understand why. Can you enlighten me? I can see substituting it for worse fats, but should we really add it to food just to be adding it, like it's a nutrient? Was just reading this:…

So easy to drink excess calories
This is something I got a wake-up call on recently. A person can consume a whole lot of calories in smoothies and other drinks. Just because it's liquid doesn't mean it's low calorie ;)
