No you can't... Yes I can!
Was at work yesterday and one of my senior colleagues was detailing seeing a guy at the gym doing pistol squats. He was raving about how impressive this guy was and how everyone else at the gym tried it but "no "real" person can do it." It's been a few months since I did NROLFW (New Rules of Lifting for Women) but I…

Had to recheck the measuring tape! Lifting heavy works!
So I started my weight-loss journey in December 2011. I weighed 82.6kg (182 pounds) at 175cm (5'9"). Unfortunately I didn't take my measurements until 6 weeks later but I do have some pics. Jan 28, 2012 Weight: 76.2kg (168lb) Chest: 98cm (38.6”) Waist: 79.5cm (31.3”) Hips: 104cm (41”) March 23, 2012 Weight: 72.8kg (160lb)…

10kg lost in 100 days
Back in early December I asked my mum to buy me a second set of pyjamas from her local store as my local was out of "mediums." Mum said "Are those the ones you had on the other morning? Aren't they a little tight? Perhaps I should get the large?" This was the comment that started my weight loss journey and has seen me lose…

Going to maintenence for 3 days while on holiday
So I'm heading interstate to visit my best friend for 3 days on Friday. I was thinking I might change my calories to maintenance for these days so I can enjoy my time without worrying so much about what I'm eating. Also, I wonder whether this might be a good thing for my weight loss. I've made it to 74kg and would like to…

The burn!!!
OMG... I started the NRLW programme on Tuesday. I've done workout A and B once and the day after both, my buns and hamstrings were/are killing me! I'm sure this will get better but man, there's no way I could think about doing anything on my "off" days! I also discovered thanks to this group that I misread the Workout A…

6 weeks and 7.6kg/17lbs down! With Pics
I started my weight loss journey ~6 weeks ago on Dec 10. My mum had arrived early at my house one day and I was still in my pjs (shorts and singlet). A couple of days later while on the phone she asked out of nowhere "So how's your weight going?" My mum and I are really close so this question didn't offend me as much as…

Making a difference!
So Biggest Loser Australia has started tonight and it reminds me why I'm on my own weight loss journey but also of the bigger picture, that in my upcoming professional career I hope to support, motivate and help my patient's change their lives through healthy living. I've found the MFP community crucial in my success so…

NSV!
I'm a doctor and today I'm working a weekend ward cover shift which means a lot of running up and down stairs, walking between wards etc. So I decided to wear my HRM to work and see how active I am during the 15hr shift. I was just sitting here eating lunch and I looked down at my HRM to see my resting pulse at 66!! Before…

31 days... 5kg down!
Today is a month since I joined MFP and started tracking my food. I've been 100% honest in my tracking and today, I weighed in exactly 5kg lighter than I started! I have 7.6kg left to loose and I'm feeling confident that I'll achieve it! For everyone who's just starting out, I encourage you, STICK WITH IT! You can do this!

Meet my work out buddy... Who's yours?!
Hey, this is my gorgeous work out buddy. Even when I can't motivate myself to get to the gym, looking at his gorgeous face begging for a walk is all the encouragement I need! This is Casper. He's a 7.5 month old white German Shepherd. He's a whopping 35kg already and is just a bundle of energy! This was this morning!…

Can't believe I thought I was fat!
I was 16 when this photo was taken. I was going to my highschool ball and I remember feeling so overweight and unattractive... I was 172cm and 67kg. I look back and this photo and wonder how my self image was so distorted!!??

NSV
Today I managed 60 minutes of interval treadmill training maintaining an average heartrate of 161 bpm and burning 771 calories! I'm super pleased with myself!! And in addition, tomorrow will be my 21st day on MFP... and they say it takes 3 weeks to form a habit, so it looks like my healthly lifestyle is here to stay!

NSV
Well it's an NSV that may translate to a scale victory too! I woke up this morning feeling tired and sluggish after a day of indulging for Christmas. While I stuck to my calorie goal I ate things higher in processed sugars, had a few drinks and barely any water and I think this may have contributed to my less than spritely…

Can't believe how far I've come...
Tomorrow I have to work a 15 hour public holiday shift at the hospital. Low doctor numbers at the end of a 4 day weekend usually means a very busy day. In the past I'd have survived on vending machine "food" (lollies, chips, soda) and perhaps some take out if I got time (fish and chips/burger etc). Instead, tonight I am…

To try or not to try... getting pregnant.
So I started my weight-loss journey nearly 2 weeks ago. I'm due to weigh in on Saturday but I lost1.8kg (~4 pounds) the first week (lots of water weight I'm sure!). My plan is to lose another 9.5kg (~21 pounds) to be at my goal weight of 70kg (I'm 175cm tall). This said, my husband and I are wanting to try having a baby in…

NSV - Bye bye muffin top
Had a small NSV today! Wore an older pair of pants to work today that used to be a little tight around the hips and I felt I was always hoisting them "above" my muffin top. Today I was off to the bathroom and realised, not only were the loose around my waist, the muffin top has gone! I almost wish it wasn't 30+ degress…

Just a young doctor deciding it's time to take her own advic
Hi everyone! My name's Ali. I'm 25 years old and I joined MFP 8 days ago because I decided it was time to start following the advice I give my patients; "Eat well, exercise regularly, be a healthy weight and drink plenty of water!" Since moving out of home at 17 to study medicine my weight slowly crept up from 70ishkg to…
