I started my weight loss journey ~6 weeks ago on Dec 10. My mum had arrived early at my house one day and I was still in my pjs (shorts and singlet). A couple of days later while on the phone she asked out of nowhere "So how's your weight going?" My mum and I are really close so this question didn't offend me as much as surprise. In my head, I was thought I was happy with my body. I hadn't weighed myself in months and after this conversation I did so, and I was horrified. I was ~70kg when I moved out of home at 17 and while living at college my weight crept up to ~75kg. When I got on the scales that day my weight was 82.6kg  !! I took photos of myself and it was then that I realised that I wasn't happy. I'd been ignoring my clothes getting tighter. I was making excuses. My mum joined a gym 2 years ago at at 58 she lost 8kg and looked AMAZING! So with all this in mind, I made the decision to change my life for the better.
Here are the photos that motivated me to change.
And here I was 3 weeks later ~4kg down.
And here I am today 7.6kg down.
For reference I'm 175cm (5'9"). I have 5kg to go until my goal weight and I'm about to start adding weight training to my regime!

Thanks all.
Clairabell - I started out with small changes. Reducing the processed food and takeout, increasing fresh fruit and veg, going to the gym regularly, walking my dog more and logging everything. I only did cardio initially, specifically treadmill interval training. Once I got my HRM I would get on the treadmill and aim to keep my heart rate between 150-170 for my workout. I'd do sprints to get it up then slow down to a power walk. I still allow myself treats and I have nights when I go out with my husband and just eat whatever I feel like (in moderation of course!). On those days I make sure I've been to the gym and "earnt" my reward.
In some ways it was easy for me. I was raised in a house where we only had lollies, chips and soft drink at birthdays or Christmas. It's only when I became an adult that I let treats become an everyday thing. In the past six weeks I haven't felt deprived once. I ask myself, do I want that food or the weight loss more. Sometimes the food wins and that's OK!
My diary is open if you need more specifics!0 -
