training with an irregular schedule...
So I work shifts 12.5hrs each shift so I don't do any exercise, other than being on my feet the whole time, on those days. I work 3-4 days a week. How can I workout a training schedule when my free days change each week?

fitbit, polor loop, vivofit
Which one do you prefer? I have had a fitbit (zip then one) since August 2013 but I lost it last month. I have been using my garmin f15 watch as it has an activity tracker (built in vivofit) and I kind of like it. I have also seen the polor loop but don't know much about it. I don't care for the HR function as I'm not…

Power rack...
So this is the power rack at my gym: Bench press - should I just move a bench over and have the bench press bars set up as in one of the photos or set it up inside the rack? Squat - should I face the window or the gym? Trainer today suggested with back to window but I'm used to the other way. Deadlift - inside the rack or…

should the calories remaining be the same at the end of the day regardless of activity level?
So I'm experimenting with my calorie goal. I would have thought the lower the activity level on mfp the more the 'exercise' calories but the remaining calories would be the same. Example from today: Weight loss = 0.5lb a week Calorie burns so far today = 2211 (estimated total burn is 2278) Activity level (active) = 2230…

Should MFP & Fitbit have the same data
Trying to understand which I should be looking at to see how many calories I can eat at the end of the day. So at the end of the day should both progammes say the same thing? Should the calories left be the same etc My burn goal on fitbit is 2861 and it gets changed via the trainer (I have the add on) every 12 weeks. My…

Strong lift 5x5 by myself
I am looking at taking up SL 5x5 or another strength training programe for that matter (NROLFW). I train alone :( and was wondering how heavy I should go before moving to the power rack? The gym only has one but isn't used much at the time I go, there aren't many bench's to be fair, none near the rack anyways. The bench…

strength training and food
So I went to my first strength training session today. I aim to go, each time, between 7am & 9am for 1 hour. I started to get nauseous with around 20 mins to go. I was drinking water throughout but only had chocolate milk before I left the house. Should I be eating breakfast before hand or drinking loads of water? Could it…

syncing activities
I took a long walk this morning 7.6 miles tracked with my garmin f15 with HRM. My fitbit only showed 7.2 miles and when I synced the garmin activity the distance was still 7.2 miles as the miles weren't shown. When I edited and added the miles it still stayed at 7.2 miles. Is this due to the fact that steps haven't been…

Training before a 12hr shift
So I am about to start strength training, which is generally 3 times a week. I'm also about to start working at the local hospital again doing long day shifts. Should I use my work days as rest days or stick to a Monday, Wednesday, Friday workout routine as I understanding you shouldn't have too many rest days in between…

The zones
I don't really take much notice of this part of fitbit but I use it for a quick view of my current deficit for the week. What are the zones exactly? I have my deficit set to -250 calories. Power racks
Should every gym have one? I'm not finding many/any gyms have them near me, is it a UK thing? There is always a squat rack and some times a smiths machine but rarely a power rack. I'm not finding many weight gyms usually focusing n cardio. There is one gym near me that is celebrating a lady squatting 50lbs on a smiths…

morning workouts after a night shift...
So I work 4 nights on 4 nights off 9:30pm - 8am. I want to get into a routine, I know that once I am home I won't want to go out or once I've slept a bit I won't want to do anything before going back to work. The best weight room is at the centre nearer to work so I'm taking that as a sign to go after a shift but then it…

Calories per day or per week?
Is it best to look at calories per week rather than per day? I find that 3 days per week I have a high calorie burn (2500-3000) but my intake doesn't go as high, my weekly deficit so far this week is -5,857. On the other days it is no where as high and I might go over my calorie goal by as much as 200 - 500 for 1 day or…

Getting headaches during exercise
So I try to work out hard at the gym. When I do cardio, even when I drink a lot of water at the time, I tend to get a headache by the end of it and I just can't carry on. I always go to the gym first think in the morning, could it be due to eating the wrong food before I go?

goings on at the gym...
At my gym we have a half cage squat rack and this week was the first time I saw this guy using it. He got the bar on his shoulders then walked backwards out of it. I thought the whole idea of it was for safety/not having a spotter etc and the bars/clips were there to caught the barbell if needed?
