Maximum deficit - 31cal per lb of fat?
I have seen this mentioned in other places, but the article Lyle McDonald wrote on it seems to have dissapeared. Maybe he changed his mind. Do any of you Lyle fans have the original article? http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15615615 Taken from another site It has been found in scientific work that a sedentary person can…

Calories - Frankie & Benny's UK
Anyone have a calorie list for Frankie & Benny's? Just had lovely lunch out with my 19yr old son, and had a chicken and bacon philly wrap with salad, but I can't find any nutrition info online anywhere. I could just find one from another chain and guesstimate it.

Weight loss - Quantity or Quality? What's your aim?
When I came here with over 50lb to lose, I worked out it would take me about a year to get where I was going, at 1lb a week, and I was happy with that. My preference is for fat loss so I'm happy to do it slowly and maintain my lean mass along the way, than do it too quickly. To be honest I wouldn't care if I weighed the…

ladies - lean mass.
There's a lot of info in threads lately regarding eating enough protein and doing strength training to maintain lean mass and maximise fat loss. So, What is your current lean mass? http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/mbf/ I may have been a little innacurate with the measuring tape to start with in January as it gives me a…

Best information sources
I love MFP and it's tracking facility. I also like to research and read as much as possible to keep checking I am doing this correctly, and how to constantly improve. What are your favourite sites? I think this one provides great info - http://body-improvements.com/resources/eat/ And I am constantly going back to Lyle -…

Plateaus - eating above/below BMR?
Everytime I read a plateau thread on here, the person is eating either at 1200, or close to it, and under their BMR. One of the reasons stated for eating above BMR is to avoid plateaus, so has anyone eating over their BMR had a plateau? and I don't mean a few days, I mean a month of staying the same. If the plateau stats…

UK Protein Powder
I need help getting to the protein targets, without also adding in too much fat, so thought I'd have a look at some protein powder, and my husband will also find them useful after his gym sessions. I have no idea what to get - anyone in the UK use them and can make a recommendation? Brands I have seen so far include…

3500 calories - 1lb fat - 6lb of muscle
http://www.burnthefat.com/calories-in-a-pound-of-fat.html Being a numbers nerd who prefers the 20% deficit to simply deducting 500 cals per day, I found this very interesting.

What's your BF% and lean mass?
One thing that worried me about starting this journey was maintaining my lean mass as much as possible. I have checked my BF% and am very glad to say that my lean mass is hardly changing. http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/mbf/ Starting info * Weight: 189 pounds * Neck: 15.5 inches * Waist: 39 inches * Hip: 45 inches…

Glycogen & Water weight
This is a good article explaining why you lose so much so quickly at the beginning of a diet, and then why you could have an initial gain when you start eating more. http://www.justinowings.com/understanding-bodyweight-and-glycogen-de/ This is why anyone who is going to increase their calories should not weigh for a few…

Egg Whites??
I see loads of posts of people's meals where they only eat egg white and not the whole egg. Why is that? Eggs are fab, and separating the white must be a pain, so why do people do it?

Least important macro to hit
I'm aiming for Carb 40%, protein 30% and fat 30%. It's difficult to get it exactly right, but getting there slowly yesterday was 40/24/36 Saturday was 32/36/31 Obviously when one is over, I'm going to be under somewhere else, so which is the least important one to worry about hitting?

BMR Calculations
Question for all you BMR experts. Today I was curious about BMR calculations, so looked at quite a few different sites. Most of them them threw out the same figure, give or take 10 cals, of 1510, which would put my sedentary TDEE at about 1800. I am 44, 5ft 0 and 179 lbs MFP has my TDEE at 1730 and has set my "llb per…

Couch to 5k Question.

My Supportive husband
My husband is being very supportive of my weight loss. He does most of our cooking as he enjoys it, so he's always checking what we can have and planning our meals. Well, here goes. I've tried many many diets in the past, but every time I stop going to class I end up putting it all back on.
