Lifting Noob
Just finished week 2 of lifting heavy. I have gained weight since I started (which I expected). My question is, when did you guys start seeing results? I need some motivation!!! I know its only week 2 but seeing the scale go up and my body in a constant state of sore-baby-giraffe is kinda discouraging.

1000 calorie workout
Does anyone do FitnessBlender workouts? I am about to do the 1000 calorie workout and I'm really curious how many calories I'll actually burn but don't have a heart rate monitor. For those of you that have a HRM, how many calories do you generally burn on these workouts?

How much does metabolism actually effect weight gain?
I've been trying to debunk some fatlogic and would love to know if any of you know of any actual studies that have proven/debunked that metabolism is the actual cause of obesity. I have been told today that a person that weighs 3x as me eats as many calories as me on a daily basis and gains weight. (I'm talking 1500…

Upper & Lower Body Same Day
I am a lifting beginner, I usually get my strength training via BodyRock and other bodyweight workouts but decided to kick it up a notch. I have noticed that most "routines" I have read about online are split by upper and lower body days. Is there any reason other than muscle fatigue that it is not recommended to do upper…

Rice!!!!
I teach in South Korea and eat a school lunch every day. The two constants on my plate are white rice and kimchi. Can't find coagulated pigs blood soup on list!
I work at a public school in South Korea where eating like a Korean is important and respected (not to mention delicious!). At this point though I think that the Principal and Vice Principal are putting me through a series of food tests to confirm their belief that Americans/foreigners cannot eat all Korean food. Yesterday…

Does anyone else only work out after 8pm? Do you find that you still get an optimal workout? With my schedule I pretty much have 5am or after 8 to work with.
