...but if you budget right, you can buy healthy food items for the same price.

This is interesting

I feel like if done right most things can be 'cheap'. I just made two large pizzas for my whole family with flour, yeast, chesse, turkey sausage, jarred sauce, and pepperoni. All together it was 18$, and I have a ton of everything left over except sauce. A whole bag of cheese (coulda saved two bucks there) a whole bag of pepperoni (2.50) 2/5 of the sausage, and a ton of flour and one packet of yeast.

    And it's delish.

Edit: But some people don't like to cook, so they'd prefer to spend 20+ on delivery and not have any fun stuff left over. Me, I'm making breakfast pizza in the AM with the rest of the yeast and sausage. Add some eggs and mushrooms? Yummo

I remember when I used to say healthy food was expensive and thought I was right. Fast food may seem cheap to some people because they aren't buying whole weeks worth in one go but seem to forget it can add up fast. I actually find that the hubby and I's grocery bill is a heck of a lot less since we started eating healthier.

Uh, yes. Short of ordering every meal off of a dollar menu, I can spend way less on groceries if I stick to a budget than I would to feed a family of five at Wendy's. If I buy all organic, I can probably spend the same amount (or less, just depending).

The USA blew me away with how cheap fast food was, in Australia I can't feed myself, my husband and my 12 yo step daughter on fast food for under $35. That's for 3 x 6" subs and 3 drinks at subway!!

I spend only 2-3% that a WEEK on groceries and we eat really well.

A lot of those foods more expensive where I live. 2lbs of chicken breasts for $1.96? I WISH. More like $12 here. A gallon of skim milk is closer to $5 than $2. 16 ounces of cashews is easily over $10, not $4.18.

I'd be curious to find out where the person who made that is from region-wise.

I agree with most things but the meat is WAYYYYY off. A pack of chicken that big would be almost $5 for me.

Same here. I eat a lot of beans, salads, etc. as chicken, meat and seafood is outrageously expensive. I splurged for burgers this weekend but boy did it hit the wallet hard.

The prices on the healthy food are very inaccurate.

Pretty much have to raise the prices of the grocery items by between 90%-110% and it would be closer to what we pay here. Some of the items on the Fast Food list are close to same price and some are more expensive.

All fowl is way way way more expensive - you could easily spend $12-$15 on 4 chicken breasts.

Still, it is cheaper in the long run as you can make more, have some frozen for lunches or other suppers. This is especially true for a single person or a couple.
