Upper & Lower Body Same Day

I am a lifting beginner, I usually get my strength training via BodyRock and other bodyweight workouts but decided to kick it up a notch.
I have noticed that most "routines" I have read about online are split by upper and lower body days.
Is there any reason other than muscle fatigue that it is not recommended to do upper and lower body on the same day?

Actually the kind of split (or not) you do should be determined by your training level. Check this out for a ton of info

Determinednoob was solid, shame he's gone.
Anyway yeah. Beginner? Full body.
Also, reading a lot about pro lifters. Strength athletes do full body stuff like 5-6 times a week, sometimes twice a day!0 -
Ah thanks! I was using the wrong keywords in the search I see0
