High protein, low calorie, low cost food
I am trying to build muscle and get rid of my beer belly-I'm looking for the classic abs and pecs. I'm weight training and doing cardio at least every other day. I'm progressively increasing my weights to increase muscle size and doing cardio to burn off fat. I've read that everyone has abs and the best way for them to…

Different compound upper body exercises
I only have a home gym: weights, barbells, dumbells and chinup bar I was doing dips, but I only had a wooden box to do this from which I placed behind me. I din't have two chairs or two parellel surfaces to use. I have recently realised this has been more of a tricep exercise than a pec exercise that I was hoping it would…

When to cut/bulk
Heard of the 10% BF bulk and 15% BF cut rule. But where I live there's only about a 3-4 month summer, rest of time is sweatshirts and jumpers, so doesn't seem much point cutting as much But now going over the 15% BF and wondering how many months a year I might be 'overweight' and unhealthy - health being main reason doing…

Bulking - Muscle to Fat ratio + rate of weight gain
Just wondering what people thought acceptable goals were for bulking in terms of weight gain per week/month/year and ratio of muscle to fat 4lbs/2kg month increase in weight with about 1lbs/0.5kg month of that being muscle? So a 3:1 fat to muscle ratio? Seen people quote anywhere from 4:1 to 1:1 ratio Guess the best test…

Form or weight?
I am increasing weight, but I keep losing my form I think because the weight is too heavy and feel I have to drop back the weight to keep the form. But I seem to be going in a bit of a circle! Whats the most important - form or weight? How can I get out of this circle? Thanks

Getting below 10% BF
I've managed to get down to around 10% body fat, but can't seem to drop further. I know its fairly low anyway, but still got that little bit of 'spare tyre' want to lose to show up abs. I've never really found it easy to lose weight and it's taken me 6 months to get this far, but can't seem to shift that last little bit.…

Strength training enough for healthy lifestyle
I want to ensure I am doing the enough exercise for a healthy lifestyle. I am doing 1hr strength/weight training about every other day I think the recommended amount of exercise is about 20mins every day. Does it matter if I am not exercising everyday? Overall I am getting more than the recommended (7x20mins) 140mins/wk -…

Late night/TV snacking
I seem to fall of the wagon the most when I watch TV, particularly late at night (I work from home, so I don't need an early night) Not sure if will power is less or I have got into a snacking habit, but start to feel a little hungry and despite sticking to a diet during the day, in my head at the time it somehow seems bad…

Milk/Cottage Cheese before bed
I am trying to build muscle. I have read that Casein is found in Milk (20% Whey, 80% Casein) and Cottage Cheese (made from milk with the Whey protein extracted) and is a very slowly digested protein. People have suggested this as a pre bed snack to leave the body with a source of slowly digesting protein during the long…

Keep chocolate and lose weight possible?
I have a freind (it's not me!) that was able to stay skinny despite eating 3-5 bars of chocolate a day. She had a fairly active job and was under 30yrs old. Within the last couple of years she changed jobs to a less active one and is starting to approach 30. They have put on about 2 stone in weight and wanted to go back to…

Extra protein needed on workout days?
When you add exercise to MFP, it adds calories you need to eat back but part of this is more protein than you would normally have had as it is a percentage of the total calories As long as your eating about 1g per pound body weight, does it matter if the calories you eat back from exercise are protein?

Liquid vs solids - Protein shakes

Weight lifted tracker
MFP doesn't allow you to easily track the weights you have lifted from day to day (I have to copy to todays date the lasdt routine I had to see what weight I last lifted, but would be nice to see on a graph to see how progressing) - are there any other good weight lifting trackers out there that anyone uses?

Training time and sets
My weights workout has somehow become 1.5-2hrs long - as the weights increased I've needed longer between sets and also I'm lifting slower. I'm working out 3 times a week. I think ideally I only need an hour - both in terms of time I have for it and the ideal time needed for muscle growth. So I have cut one of the sets for…

Just Milk for breakfast !?
Trying to find a high protein breakfast, that also has carbs and some fat and is around 350 calories. Something that is quick to digest to replenish the 8hrs without food. Tried various combinations of bread, cereals and milk, bacon, sausages, and cheese - but all these seem to be around 1.5 times the calories of just…

Combination Exercise - Pecs, Biceps, Triceps and Abs
I am working these out individually in three different workouts during the week, but doing this the different muscles are being hit individually only about once a week. Just wondered if there were any exercises that would work all of these out, so I could hit them every workout instead

Buying weights or gym?
I've maxed out the amount of weight I can currently get on my bar and dumbells - currently only 35kg, but I can't physically fit any more on. There vinyl weights which I've read are thicker than cast iron and take up more space on the bar. So I'm at a conundrum: a) time to join a gym? b) invest in a cast iron set of…

Replacing the belly with abs
My only fat is around the mid section/stomach area and I can't seem to shift it ! I've read that everyone has abs, but if there is a layer of fat over them your not going to see them. Working from home/home most of the day
Anyone else work from home or home most of the day? I find I eat alot more the days I work from home than the days I don't. The food is always there and it's so easy to dip in. I find it really hard to say no when I know it's there. I try to not buy it, but my girlfriend loves chocolate and crisps, so there's always…
