Running Vs walking for calories burned?
I'm not much of a runner, I do enjoy a good walk though. I assumed running burned more calories but no the same route walking burned more. Is this correct or my Garmin dodgy?

Any ditched the fitness trackers? Any regrets?
I've been through the majority of them over the past 5-6 years, everything from Fitbit to Garmin to Apple. Made the decision last week that I really don't need to track everything and I don't need notifications for everything. Went back to my G-Shock and it feels so freeing to be honest. Accuracy of them is somewhat…

Supplement recommendations for fatigue?
I got my Covid vaccine (Astra Zeneca) over a week ago now, I can only assume a side effect of that has been fatigue as I had been fine previously. It is going away gradually but I am sick of just dragging my *kitten* through the day with little to no energy. I phoned my Doctor who told me yes uncommon but this does happen.…

After a big weight loss do you ever get used to the cold?
It was 4 years ago now since I dropped 60lbs which makes me 6ft at 170lbs, I don't have much padding now lol and this is the issue. Come Autumn / Winter I am constantly freezing even when its not overly cold. My nose is always running and I always seem to have a head cold from being constantly cold. I'm a tradesman so…

Any broken the cycle of early morning waking?
This is something I have suffered from for the past 2-3 years now which is around the time I started lifting, and if anything it is getting worse. I am a natural earlier riser anyway, I have never even as a child slept later than 7am, (40) now, so I have no expectations of sleeping any later than this but if I could sleep…

Any of you guys have a low resting heart rate and use a fitness tracker?
I'm 40, 6ft 170lbs, my resting heart rate is 49. One annoying thing about this is I am finding fitness trackers useless. Some will warn me my heart rate is too low, but most give totally wrong calorie burns because of this. Okay fitness tracker results are to be taken with a pinch of salt but I found them useful when I…

Can dieting cause things like sleep issues and mood problems?
I started my healthy regime shall we call it about 4 years ago now, I've lost 80lbs which is great however it seems to have come at a cost. For the first year or so all was great, but since then my sleep has went to crap and no matter whats been tried nothing has worked, then there is things like anxiety and low mood which…

Sleep advice help?
I've had problems with sleep ever since my teens (40 now) I can not remember the last time I slept all night. My sleep is light, broken, tossing and turning, waking 3-4 times per night. I be grateful when it gets to a reasonable time where I can just get up. The result of all this is fatigue, lower energy in the gym, lower…

Magnesium wonder supplement or not?
After some thoughts on Magnesium. Its made out to be a wonder mineral, helping with everything from Anxiety, to sleep to testosterone level to muscle soreness. Last year I had a rough time with anxiety and panic attacks which in turn lead to sleep issues. I didn't want to take medication so Magnesium was recommended. For…

The lockdown hasn't been good to me?
Lost 60lbs 4 years ago, kept it off until now. I knew I was gaining in lockdown but didn't want to admit it. I stepped on the scales this morning, up 10lbs in 2 weeks. I need to nip that in the bud before it gets out of hand. Okay I am not working, however, as those in the UK will know we are allowed out to exercise and I…

Question about isolating muscles and hypertrophy?
Here's a question, strictly in terms of hypertrophy. Take any exercise, we'll say bench press for this example. We put 50kg on the bar, nice slow and controlled eccentrics, perfect form, say we get 90% chest activation doing this. We then put on 60kg, on this we only get 60% chest. 20 shoulders and 20 triceps, we add…

Does anyone else's body seem to hold onto weight for grim death when starting to cut?
This really annoys me, I go through the same struggle every time I try to cut down. Through myself straight into the deep end this week in order to try and get things moving a bit quicker, strict 1300 calorie limit per day. Last Thursday I weighed 78.9kg, this morning I weight 78.9kg exactly. I actually thought my scales…

Not making any progress with body fat?
This has been a real struggle, probably much more than it should be. I am coming up to 4 years now I've been at this and I've not managed to improve body fat. I've been on here a long time and asked for help a few times, I've tried everything that's been suggested including 2 trips to get hormones and thyroid checked. Long…

Vacation binge advice?
So was off and leave last week. I never went anywhere which was actually worse as I was bored and all I had to do was eat and I really went to town. I’m talking takeaway every night, chocolate crisps all the junk I could eat basically. I fell of the wagon big time. Have you ever done this? I just feel so guilty and fat…
-
Do you have any binge trigger foods?
For me I have caught on I can’t have chocolate or french fries. I simply can not moderate these foods, for me they trigger a binge usually consisting of 2-3 days eating all in sight. I’ve caught on that if I simply avoid these foods I can stick to my diet fine.

Does the "Fatty" mindset ever go away.
This is something that bothers me to be honest. Sure I'm thin now, I have been for over 3 years but for most of my life I was obese. I still think the way I did when I was fat, I still use food for comfort, when I take a notion of a binge boy can I eat, food is my reward, food is my comfort, food is still my obsession. And…

When you add calories at what point do your lifts start going up?
I'm a former fat guy so I'm very cautious when it comes to adding more food. I've always sort of lived around maintenance but the problem with that is you get to a point where you're just going through the motions getting nowhere. I've only tried bulking a couple of times, I last about a month then get scared and go back…

What to do on a recomp when all your lifts stall?
So long story short went on a big cut 3 years ago, lost 60 lbs which took me to 170lbs at 6ft tall. Body fat was still fairly high at 20% so recomp seemed perfect. I have ate at maintenance and lifted, progress was slow, gaining maybe a rep every other week, then after a year all stopped and I wasn’t gaining anything, I…

Is this kind of transformation really possible in 6 weeks?
Fair play to the guy if it is but I don’t think so As someone who also lost weight when I quit drinking I certainly didn’t end up like that, he’s lost what 20-30 lbs and gone from about 25% bf to sub 15 all in 6 weeks?

Does gaining muscle have this negative effect I had with fat?
I used to be 60lbs heavier, One of the hardest things for me, when I was fat, was in the summer I'd be standing with a beetroot red face and sweating just doing nothing let alone trying to do manual work in non air-conditioned buildings. I lost 60lbs and it went the opposite road, in winter constantly freezing presumably…

Fitness trackers / smart watch that actually work?
OK I know these things aren't gonna be 100% reliable but I find them great for motivating me. I had a Charge 2, It was OK but I found the GPS to be hit and miss, I then upgraded to a Versa, GPS wouldn't work at all, just constantly connecting, seems to be an ongoing issue with the Versa as there is a large thread about it…

Why does Basmati rice have so many calories?
I generally eat brown rice, never been a lover but its supposedly better for you so just have always ate it. Came across a post on Instagram saying about white and brown rice and there wasn't much difference bar fibre content and I do like white rice so went out and bought some at the weekend. Just had a shock when I go to…

Why would I be burning less calories during workouts now?
I know these fitness trackers aren't overly accurate, but like skin fold calipers if you start of using them you can sort of measure progress. Anyway always used a fitbit, From working out 3+ years I know a typical 30-35 min workout I burn 170-210 cals roughly. Anyway the Mrs got me a Huawei fitness tracker for Xmas and I…

BMR/TDEE Calculators?
Can someone explain this to me. I know these calculators are a rough idea but they don't even seem close. My BMR is roughly 1800, TDEE 2800, this ties in with my fitbit which says I burn roughly 3000 calories per day. Now I've been tracking for years, I know I maintain my weight around 2000 calories, if I go above 2200 I…

My motivation is starting to go?
I've been at this 3 years now, logging food, tracking macros, working out. I lost 60lbs initially which I am happy with, it took me from being obese to a normal BMI for the first time in my adult life. I've maintained that for 2.5 years. Where my motivation is starting to go is in the gym. I've been going for 3 years a…

I seem to be constantly injuring myself lately.
I'm no spring chicken anymore, I am 38. It seems like recently I am constantly injuring myself lifting weights. If its not my neck overhead pressing, its my arm doing hammer curls. Yesterday just got back to lifting after being on holiday for 5 days, I was warming up doing dumbbell bench press, using 22.5kg dumbbells had…

Went mad on vacation
So just back from a few days vacation. I am ashamed to say I ate all the puddings, ate all the burgers and fries, cleared out the buffet and at the time not a single *kitten* was given. Different story now though. I feel really guilty lol. I am too scared to even go near the scales and I don't think I will for a couple of…

Struggling to get back on track?
So up until a month ago everything was going good. I was tracking daily, lifting weights 5 days per weeks and looking forward to it. Cut more or bulk in my position?
After some advice, I posted this on Reddit but would like opinions from people more knowledgeable, I can't get past my belly fat, left over from a being a former fat boy. Others have said go on a slow bulk and add some muscle but as I say can't get past the stomach fat. I think I have built a bit of muscle. In my position…
