Supplement recommendations for fatigue?

I got my Covid vaccine (Astra Zeneca) over a week ago now, I can only assume a side effect of that has been fatigue as I had been fine previously. It is going away gradually but I am sick of just dragging my *kitten* through the day with little to no energy. I phoned my Doctor who told me yes uncommon but this does happen. Someone recommended Magnesium which I've tried and did nothing. Also tried a good dose of caffeine but that just made me anxious and fatigued. I don't even have the energy to workout at the moment so I have been sticking to going for 5k walks.

Hi! I had my first AZ in January and I was the same for a couple of days. Me & my colleagues all had it that same week & like you, two of them felt wiped out for days... though did not hear that it went on for a week though.... We are all different, I have the annual flu jab & that makes me feel rubbish for a few days after.
Only advice I have is to try to go with it .... not easy I know, work & life take no account of it do they? ....keep hydrated paracetamol if you need it ...and rest up....nice gentle walks, as opposed to 5K? Unless that is your easy walk 🤣
Take care & I hope you feel better soon... apparently second AZ symptoms of low grade fever & fatigue can be worse than the first! Booked my second for April 7th .... got my paracetamol stocked up already! 🥴😊

Vitamin D deficiency is really common in some areas, so you could take a look at that too. Otherwise you might just try to get extra sleep (hard, I know), or up caffeine (though I hear you on the jitters - I can't do more than one cup a day or I get really weird.) I hope it doesn't last too long and you're feeling better soon!

May I suggest you put your dietary emphasis on nutrition for the next little while. I've no idea if you indulge in carbs or not but cutting those back for a while will leave you calories to increase, if you are not vegetarian or vegan, include some fish, eggs are nutritious as well as other healthy proteins, not forgetting vit C in fruits and green leafy veg rather than roots. I agree with the vit d suggestion, see the sun as much as you can, it helps with so many of our bodies functions not only keeping our bone healthy. true as we age and in winter we do not have the ability to make it as we did.

I'm boring, tend to listen to science based health information in the UK. One Doctor explained, once we have had the vaccination our bodies think they are under attack, which they have been. This then, sets up a reaction which lasts a few days more or less while the body decides what to do. I can't think of the phrase the dr used for this period. Then the body moves into the "make the antibody" phase. Some of us take a little longer to go through this transition. Which is why I feel emphasising nutrition will help rather than fill your medicine cabinet with supplements at this stage.

I second the vitamin D supplement--which, frankly, a lot of us whole live in temperate climates should pay attention to during cold-weather months (especially If we don't get outside a lot). My 11-year old son actually was just diagnosed with low vitamin D and my husband had it as well.

I thought Magnesium generally has a calming effect, so I'm surprised that was recommended.
