Running - Traveling to a Race
what did you forget? Anyone care to share their packing list? I'm off to my first road-trip race and my first half marathon! I am so afraid that I will forget to bring something. I am driving so I don't have to pack light but I will be too far from home to go back to get anything that I forgot.

Half Marathon Training
I am currently 15 weeks away from my first half marathon (well, the first that I'm scheduled to run....I'm actually considering doing another one 3 weeks earlier but that is a local, small one that would be more of a training run). I am at the end of Hal Higdon's Novice 2 Half Marathon Training Program but I altered it…

Runners and Shoes
How many pairs of running shoes do you use? Do you use different shoes depending on where you are running that day (track, road, trail)? Do you use different shoes in light snow?

C25K Apps for iPhone
I am re-doing C25K, looking to increase my pace. When I did it the first time, I used a droid app. Now, I have an iPhone. The app that I used today does not tell me my pace or distance. I am looking for an app that tells me: when to run and when to walk, gives me pace and distance for each interval and allows me to play…

Running Accessories
Can anyone recommend some good running gloves? I have seen some for men, but none for women. Also, I had seen a post here on MFP about a month or so ago, about a running pouch. It was very simple. I think that it was made of neoprene and had an opening all the way around. You could just stuff whatever into it....no…

Need an iPhone App for Running
I just switched from a Droid phone to an iPhone. I've been using RunDouble as my primary running app and they don't have an iPhone version. The main features that I am looking for are: audio pace updates at varying intervals (I'm working hard on pace and as a new runner, I cannot determine my pace on my own at all! With…

Running Advice Please!
I am looking to run my first 13K in 4 weeks, 6 days. This is a significant challenge for me. I am 47 years old and ran 1 mile ONCE in my life before I began running this past May with C25K. I completed that program and am now working on Hal Higdon's 15K training program which has the longest run at week 9 with an 8 mile…

Hip Pain - Running
I occasionally get some odd hip pain after I run. It is only on my right side. The pain greatly intensifies when I slow to a walk and will largely subside if I start running again. I'm thinking that it is in the ball and socket (where the femur meets the pelvis). It hurts mostly on my backside with some tingling going all…

Running Log
For those of you who log your runs, what type of log do you use? Do you use paper logs, website, app, spreadsheet....what? I want to start logging and want the best system!

Need Help with my Numbers Please!!!
According to Fat2FitRadio, my BMR is 1391. I workout 5-6x a week. My daily calories should be 1956-2127 according to their BMR calculator. It does say that "It is OK to eat a few hundred calories less per day (200-300) to speed up your weight loss at this point." Taking an average of the 1956 (moderate activity) and 2127…

When do you Graduate?
Do you consider yourself graduated when you complete Week 9, Day 3? Or when you run for 30 minutes straight? Or when you run 3.1 miles straight? Or when you run 3.1 miles in 30 minutes?

Road Run
I did my first road run today. Up until now, I have been running on the track or on the treadmill. It was definitely more challenging in some ways and easier in others. I found that I had a hard time keeping to a slow enough pace and even the small hills on my route were hard for me. I had to walk more than ever so I…

What do you do when you are not feeling well?
I find that when I am under the weather, my appetite just goes away. I've been working very hard to keep my calories up but the past few days, I've really been struggling with it. I am nauseous and do not want to eat much at all. Is this ok to do for a few days while one is sick or should I force myself to eat more?

Motivation thoughout workout
What do you do to keep yourself motivated (or entertained) during your workout? When I'm doing a DVD or something with a lot of different movements, I'm fine. When I am on the elliptical or running, my mind isn't have to think about what I need to do with my body next and it starts wandering off to "how much longer", "how…

W5D3 DONE!!!!
I felt like quitting within the 1st quarter mile (it was so windy that it was hard to run in and my nose is SUPER stuffy today making it hard to breathe.....so I guess that DOES mean that I breathe through my nose....hmmm.....) but I persevered and completed it! You guys were my inspiration. I kept telling myself that I…

Looking to Buy a Treadmill
Hubby and I have been looking at treadmills and I'm getting overwhelmed. Right now, we are leaning towards the Sole F80 but are not sure. What would you recommend and what features are most important to you? We do not want to make a mistake with our purchase and end up wishing that we had bought something different.…

Open Diaries
I am new to this group. I am currently taking in 1600 calories a day, but I should up it to at least 1850 which would be TDEE - 20%. Some days, I am having a hard time even getting in 1600 calories. I want my diet to consist of whole, real foods and am also very slowly embarking on an plant-based diet (my initial goal is…

Trying to Make Minimum Calories but...
I'm not feeling well. I have been able to do some moderate exercise but I just DO NOT WANT TO EAT!!! My calorie level is set to 1600. Is it ok if I only take in 1200-1400 calories occasionally? I really feel like I'm going to vomit and I just have no desire to eat.

Started C25K - Anyone Want to Join Me?
I just finished Day 1 of Week 1 of C25K (Couch to 5K). I got the android app free trial and am very impressed with it. I will definitely spend the $1.60 on the full version of it when the trial runs out in 2 weeks! I read some complaints about not being able to hear the instructional prompts while listening to music but I…

Pizza
What do you log in for a slice of cheese pizza from your local mom & pop pizzeria? I see calorie ranges of 140-300 calories per slice! That's a big difference!

Newbie
Hi all. I just joined MFP yesterday and just started following the diet plan from the Biggest Loser 30-day Jump Start. I recently picked up this book at my local discounters and really like it. It emphasizes fresh, whole foods with visually appealing, colorful dishes. The average day's calories in this book is 1,500. After…
