DVD Exchange
Just a thought, exercise DVDs are a great, cost effective and convenient way to work out but doing the same one over and over can get boring and isn't as effective. Rather than spending lots of money to build up a varied collection does anyone fancy doing a DVD exchange??? i.e. members can post on here what DVD(s) they…

Does the type of exercise matter - or does it all come down
I know that you need to change things up every couple of weeks otherwise your body gets used to the routine. My question though is does it matter what types of exercise you do or does it ultimately come down to calories burnt anyway? My exercise of choice is swimming. I enjoy it, about as much as you can enjoy something…

Hopefully there are no stupid questions...
May sound like a silly question but do colds make you dehydrated??? Is that why people say drink plenty of fluids and also why I might have lost weight if I weigh in tomorrow? I'm on day 3 of a stinker...
-
Not a pleasant question, but necessary
Question. If you're sick (as in vomiting) approx 2 hours after eating do you disregard what you ate before that and start your calories afresh, do you assume you must have digested at least part of what you ate and account for that in your diary?

For anyone wanting to learn about Zumba
For those of you that don't know, the woman I work for also owns a dance school. Zumba is her specialist area and she runs classes of 200+ 15 times a week in North London. I'm not trying to promote her just sharing the background on why I'm posting this. I've seen quite a few people start to ask questions about Zumba in…

Breakthrough
Tonight I have had a breakthrough and broken the habit of a lifetime! I've always been an emotional eater, well I used to be an emotional eater - not any more!!! I was feeling sorry for myself and so having a cheat day, which involved ordering chinese for the first time in 2 months. Chinese is my fave food and it's been 2…

Whats the most effective diet you've been on?
Firstly please let me preface this by saying that I know there are no real quick fixes and that I should be looking to lose 1-2lbs a week through a combination of healthy eating and exercise. I am also aware that I need to view my weight loss as a lifestyle change rather than 'diet'. That said: I am 29 yrs old, 5"5, and…

18 in 4
Has anyone ever heard of or tried this diet? I'm not stupid enough to think that it's possible, healthy or safe to lose that amount of weight in 4 days, but I've been plateaued for almost a month and thought it could be a way to kick start things. I'd be happy if I just lost a lb on it and unlike a lot of these 'wonder…

TOM
How much weight do you normally gain during TOM? After a 3 week plateau I thought I was finally going to see some progress this week, until TOM hit that is. My weigh in this morning showed the same figure once again, but I'm hoping that the fact that its that time and I haven't gained actually means that I have actually…

Advice please... exercise related
I'm in mega pain today, have done an hours gym session every night this week (last night and tues night were with a trainer) and think I overdid it last night, my arms are screaming at me every time I move! Plus I have a banging headache :( So...advice please. I need to do another 45 min workout tonight because Fri and…

What do you eat before and after the gym?
I'm getting myself into the habit of visiting the gym straight from work at least 4 nights a week. That way if I have a hectic weekend any extra exercise I manage to squeeze in is a bonus! The thing is I'm going striaght from work at 9pm, after a 12 hour day so am not exactly getting the chance to eat a full evening meal…

Please help me structure my workouts
My main drive is weightloss, although toning is necessary too obviously. I am aiming to go to the gym 4 nights a week for approx 45 minutes a time. (This is because of my schedule, the gym closes at 10pm and I can't physically get there till 9.15). Now I've never really been one to work out - my comfort zone is on the…

Why chocolate is better for you than blueberries and low-fat

RMR
I know I've seen tons of people ask this question, and I've seen plenty of answers but nothing that seems concrete - so I'm asking again. Someone posted yesterday (and I'm sorry I can't remember who it was) but someone posted an article that stated that you had to consume at least your RMR calories each day to avoid your…

PowerPlates
Ok guys, I'm not making excuses, but I'm having a really hard time trying to get a work out in at the moment. I work two jobs right now and so work in excess of 60 hours a week (12 hour days 5 days a week) plus I occasionally work overtime at weekends. I'm out of the house between 8.30am and 9.15/9.30pm every day. My local…

30 Day shred - questions
Hey guys - just a few quick questions for y'all. My 30 day shred DVD arrived today, along with me new work out trainers woop woop. I've heard lots about it but don't really know anything about it, if that makes any sense. I'm working 12 hour days every day this week which doesn't leave a lot of time for working out, but I…

Shred day 2 or C25K?
I tried to start both 30 day Shred and the C25K today, but have concluded that going from virtually nothing to both in 1 day is too much. I still plan to do 4 days of shred and 3 days of C25K a week but for tomorrow I'd rather do one really well rather than 1 ok and the 2nd a bit half @rsed. So.... the questions is which…

How do you log C25K on the exercise counter?
Im starting week 1 today and am not sure how to log it. Would I be correct in thinking that if you walk for 5 mins as a warm up, and then run 60 secs, walk 90 secs alternately for week one then I should be logging it as 17 mins walking (moderate speed 3mph) and 8 mins jogging? Is that it? Doesn't sound like much!!! lol

cooking oil
I'm at work entering the ingredients for my planned dinner this evening and am shocked by the calorie content of extra virgin olive oil. 120 cals per tblspn!!! Does anyone know if any other oil is better to cook with in terms of nutritional value? I always thought that extra virgin olive oil was supposed to be the best for…

Water
I don't want to sound like a complete airhead, but can someone please explain to my the benefit of drinking 8 glasses of water a day (or more). I really don't like water at all but for Lent I decided that I would only be allowed soda and alcohol (the liquids I do like ;) after I've drank at least my daily recommended…

I'm not giving up anything Lent but I am starting 2 new habi
Hey guys, I'm not a big fan of water it has to be said. It doesn't fill me up but rather seems to sit on my stomach and make me feel a little nauseous. At the same time I don't drink tea, coffee or any other hot drinks which seem to help everyone else up their intake. That said I have decided that from tomorrow onwards…

Spacing calorie allowance throughout the day
Hi there- just a quick question, although I think I already know the answer. Does it really matter if you spread your calories out throughout the day or concentrate them in one or two meals as long as you stay within your goals? The reason I'm asking is that myself and another MFP-er are having dinner with a group of girls…

Help!!! Surgery + TOM + Moving House = :( Kate
How much do you guys find you put on around TOM? I've had a nightmare 10 days which have included surgery, moving house and now the dreaded P. I have an implanon (and have had for 6 years now) so don't get regular TOM's and have kind of forgotten the side effects. I can go a year without and it only tends to happen when…

Late night munchies...
I don't know if anyone else has a problem with this - I don't beat myself up about going out once a week, having a few too many drinks, and dancing off a couple of lbs. I always make sure I have enough calories saved to cover the alcohol and stick to the low cal low carb option of vodka/sugar free redbull. After 4/5 hours…

Hangover
Am soooo tempted to have a cheat day today. Great night last night, drank loads, danced for hours, and managed to stay under my targets, but this morning I've already had a maccy d's brekkie and am craving junk. Would it be so wrong to give in and order a *****y or make a trip to KFC?!

Portion Control
When the MFP Food log list something as 1 cup, roughly what size cup are you using? I find it quite ambiguous, I've been using a regular tea cup but I think the sizing is off - one cup of cereal for example isn't that much, but one cup of rice (measured before cooking) - woah thats a huge amount for one person!!! Just…
