I thought this was a pretty interesting article so worthwhile sharing. "Why chocolate is better for you than blueberries and low-fat food won't help you slim: The diet myths that could be ruining your health" By Jenny Stocks

I actually just checked out a book from the library yesterday called "Diet Myths That Keep Us Fat (and the 101 Truths That Will Save your waistline and maybe even your life)" by Dr. Nancy L Snyderman. It is a great book. I just started it last night and I am already 75 pages (3 myths down) into it. One the the truths was Dark chocolate is a dieter's friend.0

Dark chocolate IS my friend. I keep a bag of Dove dark chocolates in my desk and when I need a little bit, I'll have one. Here's how it's my friend... I don't really like dark chocolate so I only eat one. Just one cures my sweet craving but I don't like it enough to have any more! :laugh:0

It is interesting, although I disagree many of her findings.
The part about not needing to drink 8 glasses of water. Your bowels don't work properly, you retain more water when you are dehydrated and by the time you are thirsty you are already dehydrated. I disagree that she said chocolate is healthier than fruit. Yes, Dark chocolate is high in antioxidants but the person who wants to use that as an excuse to eat more chocolate will because he/she will believe it is better and healthier than fruit. This article would give my mom the go ahead (in her mind) to sit down with a bag of dark chocolate and eat the entire thing. I also disagree with the part that says you should eat 6 smalls meals a day. Most people who don't eat 6 times a day and only eat 3 large meals are already starving by the time they eat. That is not good for you.
Like I said, this is interesting but should be taken with a grain of salt. People who don't understand how the body works will not understand that all the facts aren't given. But, I will feel less guilty now when I crave chocolate and eat a piece of dark chocolate. LOL Thanks for posting. I did enjoy reading it.0
