Taste buds changing
Has anyone else noticed that food tastes differently to them after changing to an unprocessed vegan foods diet. I notice I am wanting raw food, and that I just do not get cravings. Its wild. Its freedom. Wow!

Back again
Hello, Just a note to my fellow OAs, that life is good as I start this journey - embracing a new life, new ways of being, all though the love of my higher power, Christ. I think anything good is possible through Christ. You know weight lose is not that hard, but maintaining weight lose and and life that supports weight…

starting again
I'm beginning again. This time with far more modest goals. To lose 10 lbs, maintain that for a short while and then go on to the next 10 lbs. I have to work in modest increments - the long haul is too long. Also to embrace exercise and physical labor, and to LOVE myself. That's all

Introducing myself
Hi, My name is Mara, and I had a bad food day. Eating out of anger, anxiety, sorrow, regret, and just generally tiredness. A lot of it is rooted in my thinking. Expecting bad outcomes leads to over eating. Fear and worry about things that have not happened and may never happen. Also, emotional pouting about my weaknesses…

The Eternal Question??
What is it about exercise that makes me not like it? Why do I find such comfort in contemplating my navel, but not in shaking my booty.? I wonder about this, and I don't know that there is anything to be gained by wondering about this - but I still wonder. What make idleness so appealing? Once I am exercising I enjoy…

Ok - here I go again.
I have not been as active as I was this summer. But I am going to start tonight working out on my machines in the basement. I have developed a sore left calf - and for no particular reason. Also a sore right foot - also, for no particular reason. I have been walking the dogs most days, but with the cold weather coming in I…

Less blending & juicing, more chewing
Well, I did not find the the blending and juicing had any great effect on my weight. In fact, I think it may have increased my calorie count. It also grossed out the people I work with - apparently green and orangy-green are not considered a yummy colors. Also, I never felt that I had eaten - and I missed the bulk of food…

Getting back to sweating.
I have not been doing my workout this past day, and I think it is because I have not be tracking what I do the way I should. IN ONE LOUSY WEEK, I can feel that my pants are slightly tighter. So I have to get back on the bike and out walking again. I am trying to workout with greater intensity, if not so long. The problem…

Fuel for thought
I have not been doing my workout this past day, and I think it is because I have not be tracking what I do the way I should. IN ONE LOUSY WEEK, I can feel that my pants are slightly tighter. Hello, No one has entered a note here in 6 months? Did everyone give up sweating? Hello?

Matzah Pizza
Just made vegan Matzah Pizza with a bit of tomato sauce and some Teese (cheese). Very easy, very nice.. The teese tasted strange right out of the package, but I rinsed it and crumble in on top - popped it in the micro wave for 30 second and sprinkled Braggs yeast flakes at the end. Not bad - oregano would have helped.

One size smaller
Today, I am wearing a pair of pants one size smaller. I brought them out of storage 2 weeks ago and they were tooooo tight. But today they are, while not baggy, comfortable. They look sleek, but not too tight on the behind and thighs. My torso is also noticeably smaller.

Condensed cooking
Well, I have combined vegan cooking, blending and juicing. I blend the leafy greens and soft fruits in the juice I have juiced from the hard vegetables. It works out quite well. I add protein powder and sometimes tofu and sometimes Almond milk. I make a big quantity the night before and then drink it throughout the day…

Too much food!
Terrible day food wise. Party at work. Ate food I did not need. However, I have decided to go on a juice fast. But I need an easier juicer to use. Something that spits out the waste so you don't have to stop all the time to clean out the juicer. What a pain.

Blended meals
I have just started making a blender meal for breakfast, lunch and evening snack. I saw a movie called something like, Fat, Sick, and almost Dead. This man juiced for 2 months and lost a lot of weight and cured his chronic ailment. Basically it is a fruits and veges diet. But I add brown rice protein powder to my drinks,…

Neighborhood rider
I know this is not earth-shattering but I increase my ride from 45 minutes to 70 minutes last evening. Boy oh boy, my knee joints felt loose today and by rump muscles felt like they could crack walnuts.

Hello old pants!
Well, I am happy to report that after 1 month on the vegan diet (with moderate exercise) I am wearing my old pants - one size smaller!

Eating more raw
I have come to the conclusion that vegan raw food diet is the way to go. Stop the cooking, just blend, or chop or mildly cook with steaming or a quick boil. Enough with the cooking-cooking. It takes up my whole Saturday. And the raw food diet is so easy. Buy the healthy green, yellow, orange, red veges and fruits, wash…

Roasted vegetable combos
This is the easiest way to have a lot of vegetables on hand, and the roasting gives them a lovely flavor. NOTE: I use a pizza tray covered in aluminum foil for easy clean-up CABBAGE,CARROT, ONION & CELERY 1 tbs oil 1 med head chopped cabbage 1/1/2 med. diced onion 5 grated carrots 2 stalks chopped celery 1 tbs chopped…

Day 3 - Vegan
I ave been doing this for 3 days. I noticed this morning that my knee joints felt looser, as if some inflammation/retention of water had been removed. I do notice that I get hungry, and perhaps I will need to eat a bit more. But, as long as I keep it lean and healthy I think I should be ok. I am certainly relieved of the…

VEGAN CHANGES
I have been a vegan for approximately 4 weeks. This week, I noticed that my pants are really getting lose,. Today, I put on a shirt which has always been too tight in the arms. Today it was lose in the arms, fitting normally. I can't argue with that. Furthermore, I have not been on a seriously reduced calorie vegan diet. I…

Vegan at Last
Hello, My name is Mara I have been a vegetarian from time to time, but this is the first time I have embraced the vegan diet. As I have mentioned on some other posts, I recently saw a terrific documentary on Hulu.com called Forks Over Knives. Wow! The medical information is overwhelming concerning animal protein and…

caffeine and breast pain
Has anyone else noticed that caffeinated drinks make their breast ache? I have had to lay off all of it, which can be kind of hard when you are tired and need a pick-me-up for work or what-ever.

Fruit sugar
I bought a water melon last week from a stand. And, as it was $6, I bought the biggest one I could find. So, I have had watermelon every day. I notice that it is really too sweet for me. It seems to activate hunger and makes the bottom of my feet tickle. I think this is due to the high concentration of sugar. I have also…

Feeling Fantasic!
Just wanted to let everyone know a few of interesting points. 1. I have found out that brown rice nori roll gives me long lasting high energy. 2. 35 calorie Almond milk is really satisfying 3. Although wheat berries are vegan, I am really tired after eating them - perhaps I have an allergy I was not aware of. So, though my…

Once again - starting over.
Sorry if this is a repeat. I wrote it once and it disappeared - don't know what I hit, but it seems to be gone. I lost 60 pounds 3 or 4 years ago, and with one thing and another, I've gained it back. So here I go again - a repeat offender. Biggest challenges: 1. Not eating all the time 2. Staying faithful to my regiment 3.…
