I just bought a spaghetti squash. Ideas? Recipes?
Hi everyone! I picked one up today and so far, I've figured out how to cook it in the microwave but other than putting spaghetti sauce on it, I don't really know what to do with it. Does anyone have a good recipe or idea?

Ugh. Giving up Wheat, Corn AND Milk....alternatives?
So, I knew I had a wheat allergy, then discovered the corn issue, upped my milk and started getting worse so now it appears I have an allergy to milk (though cream doesn't affect me that much - weird). So here's what I need, what alternatives have you guys developed to get around this stuff? Are there any brands you've…

Ya! Arrowhead Mills Gluten Cooking Mix Rocks!
I modified them a little by using coconut sugar, adding chocolate chips and walnuts but it turned out so good! I feel so happy after all the pancake disasters. I did use little paper cups to make sure they didn't stick. Yum.

Wheat, dairy, and corn free pancake mix that actually works?
I'm experimenting like mad and so far - flat hard pancakes seem to be all I can create. Ick. I miss my dairy. Does anyone have a fluffy pancake mix that you've gotten to work without corn, wheat or dairy? Monica

Anyone have a great online Recipe Conversion Calculator?
I've been trying to find one where I can take recipes for 6 and change them for a recipe for 2 people instead. I can never eat the huge portions that are in cookbooks. Does anyone have a great calculator that they use which is easy? Thanks.

Beetroot Juice? 8 Ounces a day....hmmm
http://www.foxnews.com/health/2013/04/16/beetroot-juice-lettuce-can-lower-blood-pressure-about-10-points-study-suggests/ This is interesting. Apparently, it may lower blood pressure by about 10 points and they are claiming it lasts for about 24 hours. I'm not sure what it tastes like though. Is it good? Bad? Does anyone…

Goodbye Gluten Tortilla wraps - found at Publix
I bought these today and they were really good. If you're allergic to corn, you won't be able to eat them but they are a mix of non-gluten flours. I made my first burrito wrap today. Yum!

Interesting - Imported rice with high lead levels
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-22099990 I'm gluten free because of an allergy. I now have been buying my rice for several months from Lundberg which is a California company. This article totally surprised me. They did a study and discovered really high levels of lead in most imported rice and particularly…

peroneal tendonitis - Good ankle braces?
I'm looking for a good ankle support that I can wear in my hiking boots to help support my ankle. I suspect this tendon is the one that keeps acting up and I've found many braces that stop rollover but don't know how comfortable they really are so I'm hoping some here have tested certain braces. Basically, I've seen air…

Brown Rice and Arsenic?
Yipes. I just found an article about brown rice and how it usually has really high levels of arsenic. Anyone ever hear about this? I've always preferred white but I didn't know brown might actually have some dangers to them. I thought it was interesting that rinsing the rice might lower the arsenic levels. I suspect this…

One more reason to eat an orange and not drink it....
http://abcnews.go.com/Health/california-woman-sues-pepsicos-tropicana-alleging-deceptive-advertising/story?id=15394357 This was an interesting news article. I've always thought Orange juice tasted odd and wrong. It's been a pet peeve of mine for years. Now I know why I dislike Orange juice. I'm curious, how many others…

Veggies! Which ones do you love and how do you prepare them?
I thought this might be sorta fun. Basically, the idea is to tell about your favorite veggie and how you go about preparing it. I'm addicted to grilled Green Beans sauteed with olive oil and then tossed with a light spattering of lemon, crunched up walnuts and a light amount of walnut oil. I also love cooking broccoli in…

Why Four Workouts a Week May Be Better Than Six
This is an interesting article (that's the header/title - not my opinion on the topic by the way). It's about a new study that explored whether it was better to work out 2, 4 or 6 times a week. What do you guys think? It says 4 is the ideal number (something about what your body burns at resting rate). Here's the article:…

Great Gluten Free Pizza
Well, I tested the Against the Grain Pesto Nut Free pizza and it was good! I even gave it to the regular members of the household (my parents who are NOT gluten free) and they both liked it and said they would definitely eat it again with no problem. :) I thought I'd mention it if anyone is looking for a decent pizza…

EMERGENCY: Filet Mignon Grilling - Time?
I'm about to cook several filet mignon's on the grill. I've got ones that are 1 inch in width and others that are 1 1/2 in width. Basically, I need a cooking time based on flip time. Do I cook 3 minutes then flip? Cook an additional 3 minutes? How long? I need one of them to be medium well and the others will be a little…

Hamburger helper? Not gluten free!
http://www.celiac.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=140&Itemid=245 Apparently, Hamburger helper has three box mixes that USED to be gluten free. I don't buy the stuff but thought if anyone out there does, it might be a good idea to alert you folks that they changed their facilities and posted on the…

GF Angel Food Cake - It even works modified
http://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Gluten-Free-Angel-Food-Cake I've made this as a sort of Hawaiian style sweet bread for deserts (or even sandwiches) and it works really nicely. Cool! One of my students....
from last year noticed my weight loss. She stopped by and looked confused and said "Ms. Prieto?" I said "Yes?" It was like she almost didn't recognize me. She was so happy for me. She told she I was looking so good and asked if I was dieting. I explained I was doing a life style change and she said to keep doing it and…
