Anyone have a great online Recipe Conversion Calculator?

I've been trying to find one where I can take recipes for 6 and change them for a recipe for 2 people instead. I can never eat the huge portions that are in cookbooks. Does anyone have a great calculator that they use which is easy? Thanks.

Well... you could look at this from two different ways:

1.) Cook a recipe as-is, and freeze the other portions for future meals (bulk cooking)

    or

2.) Consider using Google or Ask.com - they can help with breaking down measurements...

To be honest I look at the things you can't divide, like 1 egg, and go by that. So a 2 egg recipe can be halved, a 3 egg divided by 3.

But usually I just make half and freeze back the single portion for work lunches or nights when OH isn't home - he works away a lot!

    Might that help for now?

    Yup! I agree !

Taking a recipe for 6 and making it into 2 would mean a 66% change. Decrease it by 2/3rds...

    I love math!!!!

I just realized I can probably just enter the recipe here for portion control. It just drives me bonkers that I can't see my instructions. I like to enter personal recipes for myself and modify them on occasion. Also, I kinda miss the ability to see the ingredients drop in quantity so I know how much to actually use without thinking. I can do math but it was so much easier to modify the recipe inside of my Master Cookbook. I did just find an online link for software called Living Cookbook 2012. Has anyone here tried that one? My old one isn't getting rave reviews but this one did so I'm curious.

    www.allrecipes.com

It will convert to any number of servings. There is a box at the beginning of the recipe for you to make the adjustments

Honestly speaking Im a glutton for punishment, I do Advanced Medical billing for a living and I absolutely LOVE numbers. I can eyeball when the insurance companies charge the patient the wrong balance without using a calculator... lol!!!! So, the numbers-way of thinking comes home with me when I get my kitchen skills going! LOL!

I'm decent with numbers. I'd just rather cheat and make my life easier. I have to many other things to worry about so simple is great.
