hi MFP- i'm starting to think that i might be lactose intolerant, but i'm not sure what it feels like. on a typical day i have a cup or so of greek yogurt and about 1/2 cup ff milk in my tea. i don't eat much cheese, but i do eat some (usually low fat/fat free), and i will often have a pudding cup for dessert. i feel like…

determining calories in juices
hey MFP world- how do you determine the calories in a juice? if i use the recipe calculator on here, i think it assumes i'm eating the whole thing. maybe that's ok, but i just wanted to check if there is another way to do it. specifically, i'm making 'green juices' with kale, mint, ginger, an apple, and a cucumber...…

Raw Diet?
For a number of health reasons, I'm considering a (primarily) Raw diet. I'm curious to hear what benefits people have seen from going Raw- even a week or so at a time and what resources people have found to be useful. Also- if you have a blender and/ or dehydrator, what brands work and are crap?? thx for any advice!

Forks over Knives
http://www.forksoverknives.com/ Did anyone see this movie? What did you think about it? I'm a scientist, so I'm naturally a bit skeptical about the research, but I was wondering if anyone went veggie after seeing this? I eat tons of fat free yogurt and egg whites...not sure I could give it up.... Thoughts? Comments?

Help w/ side plank
I think I'm pretty strong, at least with respect to my upper body, but whenever I'm trying to do side plank, I have a lot of problems. Either my arm starts to wobble, or if I'm doing a DVD where I have to balance on one foot, I feel completely unstable b/c of the edge of my tennis shoe on the floor. Trying to balance on…

Killer Buns& Thighs
Just thought I'd give some feedback on the most recent JM DVD. Just did Level 1 and found it challenging but with a lot of room to increase intensity through adding weights or speed. She recycles some moves from other DVDs (ie., 30D shred), but those are mostly in the warm up and cardio. Not quite as difficult at Level2 of…

What kind of scale do you recommend?
Right now I have an old scale I bought from Ikea that still weighs in stone. So, I'm doing the conversions. Having said that, it is pretty darned close to what the scale in my doctor's office said this morning! I guess I'm wondering if it's time to upgrade to digital. Do those of you who have digital prefer them and if so,…

Suggestions for eating at night
So, I'd say that over half my calories are consumed after I get home from work at night. I'm really good during the day about watching what I eat, but when I get home, it all goes downhill. I know I'm eating b/c I'm bored- only half the time am I really even hungry. I know that there are many issues that I need to deal…

Anyone else struggle quitting?
I'm looking for some suggestions on how to stop drinking to get this weight loss thing jump-started. For better for worse, I have a reputation for being a wine connoisseur, wine lover, and lover of good times all around. Most of the situations where I'm "expected" or order the wine, drink, etc. is for work, and I'm…

When do you stop your HRM?
Do you stop it as soon as you 'stop' your exercise? After your cool down? Once your HR gets below the 'fat burn' level? I'm new to HRM usage, but I love it. Just want to know what the done thing is! Thanks!!

Craving carbs in the AM
Hi MFP peeps- I'm trying to figure out is why I want to eat carbs in the morning when I get to work. When I say "carbs", I specifically mean a bran muffin or some kind of cereal (Kashi go lean), although greek yogurt with honey will also do (obviously it's the honey I want). In any case, I think that the most logical…

What's on your playlist??
If you're like me, a good play list can make all the difference to getting me out of bed and really moving during my work out:happy: I'm constantly looking for new tunes to incorporate, and I'd like to know what everyone's listening to. A new MFP/Facebook friend has been hooking me up lately, but I want to know what…

hola MFP friends!! i'm new here and already seeing what a positive, supportive, motivating group this is. soooo excited to be a part of it: ) i have a question, though. many websites say that you shouldn't eat less that 1200 cal, but that is provided you're getting 30' of exercise a day. right now, i can't exercise b/c i'm…
