Predictions?? I have a feeling - a very bad feeling - that we will be seeing a thruster/burpee combo in the next couple weeks...

Body fat % test options
I want to get my body fat % tested and was just wondering what everyone's recommendations are for accuracy... Obviously things like BODPOD and Dexa scans are going to be most accurate, but I'm not super keen on spending that kind of money at the moment. I know digital scales are rubbish... How accurate are callipers or…

Macros on target but calories under???
I'm sure there's a very simple explanation, but I don't understand how I can hit my macros and still have my calorie under target?? Actually, my protein is over by 13g, fat and carbs are bang on track and my calories are still under by 35. How does that work? I've also had days where my macros are almost exactly on target…

Progression to T2B
Toes to bar is something I've been trying to master for a while but can't seem to get it right. This morning I was walking my dog through a park with a playground which had both monkey bars and a set of swinging ring things (think of just rings hanging straight from a bar, so there is some movement but not as much as…

Mobility work for SQUATS
I'm trying to put a lot more emphasis on mobility work at the moment and was looking through the mobility wod website when I came across this video. My squats have been a little crappy for a while (couldn't sink as low as I used to and tend to rock forwards a little in front squats) and I couldn't work out why. They used…

Took a logging break - not a great idea
After my metabolism reset I spent 4 weeks logging my daily calories according to heybales spreadsheet, which put my daily requirements at 2194 calories (this puts me in a 15% deficit). In the first 2 weeks I didn't lose anything, but the second 2 weeks (actually, it was more like 10 days..) I lost 800g. At that point I…

Post workout - simple vs complex carbs
This is where I really get confused. I've read arguments for both sides but surely they can't both be equally correct. Post workout, is it better to have simple or complex carbs? FYI - I do crossfit 8-10 times per week. I know the basics that during training, particularly an intense session like crossfit, our bodies…

This is where I really get confused. I've read arguments for both sides but surely they can't both be equally correct. Post workout, is it better to have simple or complex carbs? I know the basics that during training, particularly an intense session like crossfit, our bodies deplete their glycogen stores and these need to…

Training aside, what do you all eat??
Hi everyone. I know this isn't 100% related to crossfit but I'm curious as to what you all eat, if you follow particular diets, etc? I know this would all depend on our individual goals of weight loss, weight gain, muscle gain, bulking, BF loss, etc etc but given the hype in the crossfit community of following the paleo…

Tired of logging
I have been casually logging on MFP for about 8 months now but for the most part I wasn't very strict and used it more as a guideline than anything, however for the last 3-4 months (including the last 8 weeks which has been my reset) I've been logging religiously and I'm just getting tired of it. Some days I just can't be…

Importance of protein shakes
Just wondering what everyone's views are on protein shakes? I've been doing crossfit for over 2 years and have been using protein shakes for most of that time. I have tried a couple different ones but being lactose intolerant and adamant on not consuming artificial sweeteners, flavours, etc, I have found an all-natural…

Nutrient timing & supplements
Just curious as to what everyone's views are on these two things - nutrient timing, and supplements. By nutrient timing I mean the importance of having some simple carbs (banana, muesli bar, etc) before a workout and then protein and carbs afterwards, or if everyone just focuses on getting the right amounts across the…

Increasing exercise but nowhere near 21 hours!!
I've just been having a look at the scooby calculator and I can't quite understand why the next level up from 5-6 hours of exercise is 7-21 hours... There is SUCH a big gap there - how does it work out?! A little info: I started my reset 8-9 weeks ago and plan on going until the end of the month and then starting 10% cut.…

When weighing fruit...
I apologise if this is an incredibly silly and/or obvious question, but when weighing fruit do you only weigh the 'edible' part? ie; do you peel a banana or take out the core of an apple or pip from a peach before weighing?? Peeling a banana before weighing seems reasonable given that there is a lot of peel, but then it…

Full fat vs low fat
Just curious what everyone's views are on full fat vs low fat products? I'm vegetarian so get no saturated fats from meats etc and am lactose intolerant so I eat very little dairy other than greek yoghurt, plus I'm not a big fan of yellow cheese anyway, but am thinking more specifically about soy milk. I probably have…

Logging when eating out
Just curious as to what everyone does when eating out, whether it's at a restaurant or someone else's house... Do you guess at the quantities etc, knowing it won't be exact coz you can't weight/measure and also don't know what exactly is in the food (if they used oil in cooking, sugar in sauces, etc etc) or do you just…

Cardio HIIT vs combination HIIT
I am a month into my reset and plan on continuing for another 4-6 weeks but I am already REALLY not looking forward to cutting calories - eating this much is awesome!! - so I'm planning on adding in more exercise so that my TDEE is higher, and therefore my cut will be about the same as my current TDEE. My question is this…

How accurate do food measurements need to be?
I'm currently doing my reset and measure MOST of my food and liquids, but just wondering if it will really make a difference to my progress if I don't measure EVERYTHING?? For example, if I'm making breakfast I will measure out my oats, milk, seeds (although usually with seeds/nuts I have measured them in the past and…

Have I underestimated TDEE??
I am about 2 weeks into my metabolism reset. I was unknowingly eating 1200-1300 calories for a few months or so (filling up on veggies etc so was never really hungry and didn't know I was under eating) and when I realized I upped my intake but was still eating too low and floated between 1500-1800 for about 6 months,…

Vegetarian protein
I am in the middle of my reset, eating around 2400 calories per day with my macros set to 40/30/30 of carbs, protein and fat. This leaves me with around 180g of protein required each day. Some days I hit this and some days it seems impossible. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations of things I can add in to a…
