Any new moms here?
My daughter is 4 weeks old and I'm looking for other new moms on here. Pre baby I was between 150-155 and I'm 5'9" (although I'd like to go down to 140). I got up to 198lbs and now am at 173. I'm exclusively breastfeeding and will start workouts soon, after my checkup. Guess I'm just looking for motivation and new friends…

For those on synthroid - food interactions?
Hi everyone, I'm on synthroid for hypothyroidism. My doctor told me that if I take it in the morning, not to eat anything for four hours afterwards which means I skip breakfast. I've been following this advice, but now I am wondering if it's too strict? I have heard of others being told they can wait just half an hour.…

Your fave stupid food myth you've heard

Trainer's goal for me - ok?
I had an orientation at my new gym. Unfortunately they used a scale to measure body composition (I was hoping for callipers) and their scale, a Tanita brand, said I have 32.5% bf. this was after 2 cups of fluids. The next morning I used my home scale and it says 25%. I don't know what to think. Anyways, the trainer made my…

How true is this? Water needed for fat metabolism?
I saw this in an article on another site and am wondering how true it is. Is there science behind it? "Water is not only a natural appetite suppressant, but it actually helps the body metabolize stored fat. When the body does not have a good supply of water to draw from to perform required physiological tasks, it will draw…

Loose skin and lifting
There are often posts from people with a lot to lose asking about loose skin.. And inevitably there'll be advice to lift weights and that this should help. Really? Why? I imagine the advice comes from the idea that muscle will take the space of the lost fat and thus fill in the space so skin will be taut again. However I…

Fozelek
Do you make the roux separately with oil and flour or do you put the flour + sour cream directly into the vegetables? I've seen different ways of doing this. Yesterday I made Spinach fozelek - I made the roux and added milk and sour cream and then added the spinach to this.

Linea Nigra - when will it go away?
Hi ladies! I think my title is pretty self-explanatory. When can I expect the dark line to go away? I'm almost 5 months pp now. Thanks!

Can't rely on labels all the time
I've started weighing various foods that I hadn't before... Like my favourite turkey deli meat. The label says 2 slices are 30g but when I weighed two slices it's more like 40, sometimes even 50! So we really can't even rely on those. Blah. Just thought I'd put that out there.

Fitbit? Worth it and which one?
Those of you who got a fitbit, do you feel it's worth it? Is one model better than the other? Thanks!

Antibiotics - breastfeeding - digestion issues
Ugh this is TMI but I should ask. I'm exclusively breastfeeding my 12 week old and 2 days ago my dentist prescribed amoxicillin for an infection. This has resulted in me having diarrhea. So I'm wondering if I need to drink extra water to make up for the water loss in order to keep my supply up. This sucks so bad :(

WTF thread
My sister in law helps out with clean up when we have parties at my place. Bless her heart. But she puts sharp knives BLADE UP in the dishwasher! WTF! What's your WTF rant?

Anyone want the cans? The recycling box is overflowing. You pay shipping and handling so make sure you order enough to make it worth your while.

Sauna and supply?
I want to make a trip to my favourite spa and they have a sauna which I love but I don't know whether extreme heat can affect my supply? I'm probably just overly worried but I'm wondering what your experiences are? Thanks!

Simple Ground Chicken recipe?
Something possessed my husband to buy two packages of ground chicken so now I must cook it lol Anyone have a relatively simple recipe? I'm at the beck and call of a 1 month old so a complicated one might be hard to pull off.

Guy MFP friends
Is it just my imagination, or do male MFP buddies go AWOL on us pregnant girls? I swear I've had like THREE of my guy friends drop by my page since I announced my pregnancy. Not taking it personally, but it seems they get weirded out. Ok I don't expect them to discuss dilation but even non-pregnancy stuff they ignore. LOL!

BTDT moms - realistic post-baby weight loss?
I wanted to ask second, third time etc moms about realistic goals for getting back into shape post-baby? Is it THAT hard, even if you make the time and put in the effort? I'm 31.5 weeks and have gained 37lbs so far. I'm pretty tall so I think I carry it well but there is definitely some extra padding everywhere lol Of…

What's your cal intake?
Hi. I'm concerned about my weight gain so far. I started at 5'9" and 140lbs and I've already gained 29lbs at only 24.5 weeks! I just wanted to compare my cal intake to some others. My daily goal is 1950 but most days I'm over by 100-200 and some days I don't even bother to log because I'm afraid of what it will add up to…

Fat
hi guys This isn't workout related - but I thought you're the best non Broscience bunch to get advice from. From a body composition perspective, is it hurting my efforts if I'm consistently over on my fat intake? I like cheese and nuts and take a fish oil supplement and several times a week I'm pushing 60-80 grams of fat.…

Vanilla Kiflis :)
I made these yesterday and they turned out great! I ended up accidentally putting twice as much sugar as the recipe said because I didn't read the directions until the end, where they said use the vanilla sugar as a topping. It still turned out wonderful :) http://allrecipes.com/recipe/vanilla-kifli/detail.aspx

Suggestion for those who hate texture of cottage cheese
I've seen a few posts by people who want to enjoy the nutritional benefits of cottage cheese but hate the texture of the common wet and creamy cottage cheese. You can get cottage cheese that has been dry pressed. It's usually in plastic wrapping and has "Dry Pressed Cottage Cheese" on the label. It's dry and crumbly and oh…

Vanilla sugar?
This recipe I wanna make calls for 1/2 cup regular sugar and 1/2 cup vanilla sugar.. I don't have any van sugar - but I do have vanilla extract.. can I just use 1 cup or regular sugar and a teaspoon of the extract rather than go out and buy van sugar?

hi Intro
hi everyone! Just wanted to post an intro before I jump in. I'm 5'9" and was at my highest weight in July at 162. Still healthy I think but I wasn't comfortable so I came back to MFP and decided to get serious about things. I've lost 27 lbs since, and got to my first goal of 135. I just reset my goal to lose another 5 lbs…

Not sore!
Yesterday I did my pushup/situp/squats challenge AND did weighted deadlifts (I think 30lbs - the bar + 10lbs on each side). My arms/chest and midsection are nice and sore (I like it!) and my quads and hams are sore, but NOT my glutes. I did 197 squats in total and 4 sets of weighted deadlifts (reps: 10, 8, 8, 8). But my…
