Can't rely on labels all the time

I've started weighing various foods that I hadn't before... Like my favourite turkey deli meat. The label says 2 slices are 30g but when I weighed two slices it's more like 40, sometimes even 50! So we really can't even rely on those. Blah. Just thought I'd put that out there.

Yeah, I just started weighing all my food rather than relying on measuring and labels and I was surprised by how off it can be.

It really can be. I weigh everything now because of that!

It's basically just an estimate, like everything else. Nothing is 100% correct. :)

Weighing things like deli meat makes sense because the person cutting it may be cutting a different thickness each time for the meat.

I have tried eyeballing salad dressings ( for example) at work because I do not have a tablespoon with me and I believe I am using too much because when I actually measure it out at home with a tablespoon there is less dressing sitting in the bottom of the bowl when I am finished.

Yep when I started using an actual tablespoon to measure out my olive oil I was shocked by how little it actually is. :(

True for the actual deli, but this was for prepackaged deli mean, no? I would expect it to be much closer. The stuff I've measured has been pretty close.

After years of measuring, I can eyeball stuff pretty good. I still consistently measure to keep my eyeball calibrated for when I am out and cannot measure.

Yes it was prepackaged I should have specified that.
